  4. This isn't true. Fans didn't suddenly changed. Fans have ditched Wrigley everytime the team sustained crappiness. They come back in droves when the team succeeds. The Cubs have been spending more than 80% of the teams in the league for over a decade. The myth of a complacent team with no incentive to win has no basis in reality. Not during the Sammy years, they didn't. Especially when you look at years like 1999 & 2004. of course during those 2 years they were also coming off a season where they made the playoffs.
  5. You like Wright State? Or do you just not want a bubble team to get in? It 's over now-2 bids for the Horizon League apparently. i live in dayton ohio. and my girlfriend goes there.
  6. let's hope wright state can hold on to a 1 point lead with 11.6 seconds left
  7. If not for the fact that we already knew by that time that something was up with him, that pick would have made a lot of sense. After all, Prior's 03 had been ridiculous. i think the news that he was going to be hurt was announced like a week later. i remember being pissed because of the fantasy implications.
  8. in 2004 i had the second pick and it was my first time ever playing fantasy baseball. i picked mark prior.
  9. go wright state

  14. it's spring training
  15. they also get andy pettite and doug melealkmvklvalkveaicz.
  16. I'm in as Mark DeRosa Parks
  17. i knew he was my 2nd favorite cub for a reason
  18. He turns 32 this season, so age is definitely a concern. However, I think he would be fine at SS for another 2-3 years, and fairly productive with the bat for 5-6. His best years, with a 167 OPS+ probably won't return, but I could see him being a solid 135-140 OPS+ for quite a while. ARod's game is based on patience and power, two things that tend to last for quite a while. since he is that old, how long can he last at ss? aram already has 3B solidified, as does derrek lee at 1b if that's a possible position for arod. can arod play 2b?
  19. if football announcers can constantly mention qb rating, there's no reason for baseball announcers not to mention eqa and vorp.
  20. We assume Griffey was clean because he never showed a single one of the hallmark signs for steroid use -- extreme muscle increase, bigger head, acne , etc. Further, most "baseball people" tend to agree that Griffey has a textbook perfect swing for hitting HRs, meaning that he didn't rely on sheer muscle to hit the ball. Griffey's uses flexibility and quick reflexes to generate batspeed, not his triceps. One last thing, Griffey was injured all the time. Guys on the juice don't spend much time on the DL with injuries. Part of what steroids do is cause your body to heal at an extremely fast pace (keep in mind that your body healing itself after a workout is what actually builds muscle). Griffey just never fit the mold of a steroid user. i never saw any huge size difference in alex sanchez or rafael palmeiro.
  21. why should we assume that griffey was clean? if steroids are really as big a deal as the media makes it out to be, shouldn't we assume anyone with good stats used steroids or other performance enhancing drugs? or just the ones who threatened records?
  22. i don't know if everyone should do this, but here's my team if it will help kc out filling the rosters C: Bengie Molina 1B: Paul Konerko 2B: Ryan Freel SS: Bill Hall 3B: Alex Rodriguez OF: Bobby Abreu OF: Pat Burrell OF: Scott Podsednik UT: Travis Hafner BN: Freddy Sanchez, Kevin Youkilis SP: Rich Hill SP: Randy Johnson RP: Huston Street RP: Chris Ray P: Jonathan Papelbon P: Scott Olsen P: Javier Vazquez BN: Ted Lilly, Jose Contreras, Ian Snell, Jeff Francis
