let's not get too excited. sure, derosa hasn't proven himself over a full season, but neither has theriot. yeah, he's been productive over 130 at bats, but so was neifi perez late in 2004 and 2005. if theriot was our starting 2nd baseman for a whole season, i'd bet he'd give us numbers similiar to his career minor league numbers (.692 OPS) rather than the major league production he's given.
I don't think you're going to get anywhere near that at this point. Well, that's no good. I sold mine for about 70 a ticket on eBay. 80 might be too much, I had a hell of a time selling my Sox tickets for 80.
Sounds good to me! According to my BP book "Baseball Between the Numbers" bunting for one run is actually more valuable when you have a lead, so, not really a bad decision there. The idea that he's going to be aggressive on the basepaths worries me though. Stealing in general isn't really a positive play to make. If I remember correctly, in that book they had a list of how efficient a manager is, and Lou was close to the top of the list.
Group A: Albert Pujols Group B: Adam Dunn, Carlos Beltran Group C: Vladimir Guerrero, Prince Fielder, Richie Sexson Group D: JD Drew, Miguel Tejada, Carl Crawford, Chad Tracy, Brad Hawpe wild card pm'd to serena - Edwin Encarnacion -> JJ Hardy
sosa was basically written off by everyone in the baseball world, except one guy gave him a chance. sosa used that chance and produced tremendously. now he's asked about it by the media and he's obviously proud of himself, so what happens? people point out that he's talking about himself and they look at how many times he uses the word "i". can't he be proud of an individual accomplishment? and how come people don't understand that to be the ultimate team player, your personal stats should be at their best. sammy hitting homeruns for himself helps the team tremendously. it's almost impossible to be a selfish player in baseball.
Outside the Lines will have an Adam Greenberg story on Sunday at 9:30 ET. ESPN.com also has a nice article about him. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2799439
I'm in, haha, great minds think alike whoever's name is honey nut ichiros, i picked honey not theriots. i'll have to come up with something else later.
Fine, that's your opinion. Just out of curiosity, what was his ERA+ those years? Also at a level that would be very good for a fifth starter? 113 and 103. Thanks. Where do you guys get that info? I couldn't find it on ESPN or mlb.com. http://www.baseball-reference.com
