  1. Please start, football. I rather watch a 7-9 Bears than this [expletive] [expletive].
  2. I hope we shell the [expletive] out of him tonight.
  3. Christ... Who's uglier, Tom Gorzelanny or Lackey?
  4. They're 5-6 since they swept the White Sox. And now on the brink of sweeping Detroit on the road. 27-11 since May 22. And the Cubs are on the brink of sweeping the Mets on the road; they're are 6-5 in the same span the Pirates went 5-6. It was a pretty lazy complaint. Their 21-5 run is still plenty fresh in my mind. I should have made the comment two weeks ago but they're still very likely better than us.

  6. Meanwhile, the Pirates will never lose another game. Ever.
  7. As a fan you have the right to feel any you want. BUT, I'd say it's unfair to put this on the front office. Everyone was waiting for them to sign a big ticket free agent, and I really don't remember anyone bashing the move when it happened. Jon Lester appeared to be pretty safe to not be a bust and be a quality pitcher for four or five seasons (still hope he will be). I'm not yet freaking out that this is Barry Zitoish. I remember a decent amount of detractors at the time, not really on the player signed, but on the contract for a player of his age. Relatively speaking, he struggled a fair amount the two years before 2014 (contract year, makes sense), and while you would like to think he just found a new level last year, they had to know a regression to the mean was possible, if not likely. I guess giving that much money to someone over 30 who plays once every 5 games isn't worth it to me, especially when you have guys like Arrieta and Hammel currently giving us more for much less. We have a stud pitching coach, which to me should let us be a little more picky about who we dish out huge contracts to. I agree that we needed that #1 guy (even though Arrieta is pretty much that) but I'm just not sure they picked the right one. Just makes me a little nervous that we're counting on years of high-level play from a guy already half-way to his 32nd birthday.
  8. I officially hate the Lester signing. Rare mistake by Theo giving that much to a player over 30. I much rather have stuck to signing/trading for talented but struggling arms who Bosio could work his magic on. It was hard to face that truth in the wake of signing such a good player, but it's worn off and I'm pretty pissed.
  9. Vasilevskiy in goal tonight. Smart move on the Lightning's part. It's a game they probably won't win anyway, so rest Bishop for Saturday and hope the Hawks can't solve a new goalie.
  10. Yeah, Vasy is an elite talent and a future Top 5 goalie in the league. And I feel that even as a rookie he's as good (or better) than a less than 100% Bishop, so really no worries from this end.
  11. No problem with Lake against LHP, but would feel much better with Russell at cleanup.
  12. Remember when you'd walk to the back of a K-Mart and there would randomly be a Little Caesars counter? That was the most bizarre [expletive] I've ever seen.
  13. Posting a Little Caesars pizza didn't help your case.
  14. Listen, I like bacon as much as the next guy, but I'm pretty sure in the last 5 years it has overtaken pizza as the most overrated food of all-time. I'm afraid that if we keep posting it the Cubs will also become overrated.
  15. This offense would have destroyed Dubnyk. Of course to be fair, after making Price and Lundqvist look average I'd probably say that about a lot of goalies right now.
  16. Apparently Joey Votto walked (and scored) on 3 balls yesterday. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2482233-reds-first-baseman-joey-votto-walks-on-a-3-ball-count-vs-nats-no-one-notices
  17. I'll do the right thing and stay away during the games. I think Hawks in 6 or 7, but more than anything I'm just glad we're going to be good for a lonnng time. In fact, I'd make the claim that the Lightning's long-term prospects for success are even higher than the Cubs right now. I literally have no worries about their ability to contend for Cups for the next 5+ years, especially if Stamkos re-signs, which I'm pretty sure he will. Experience is going to be the deciding factor in this one, unfortunately for the Lightning. Because of that, part of me was rooting for the Ducks, but realized that home-ice was a nice consolation with the Blackhawks winning. Then I remembered home-ice doesn't matter. Whoops.
  18. Good luck tomorrow, gents. We'll be waiting. We'll probably lose in 6 regardless of who comes out of the West, but the Hawks would be much more exciting IMO.
  19. Nothing worse than when your park becomes overrun with opposing team bandwagoners. I seem to remember a home game against the Giants in 2013-ish where 80-90% of the seats in view behind home plate were occupied with Giants fans.
  20. Beat the Royales http://www.redrobin.com/img/menu_page/thumbs/53fd6497-c4b5-42f8-9bf6-4a16441e8719_sm.jpg
