  1. lou has a classy outburst it was pretty close
  2. man, it would be really nice to see him come back in the second half...maybe a line of... .285 .385 .450 18 HR
  3. Literally 10 minutes ago when bradley was going on contact to be "aggressive" i thought the issue was with kosuke not advancing
  4. he noticed bad baserunning? what a key managerial eye. wait, you noticed it, too? forget brenly, sign up this diamondmind guy. you're a web bot aren't you?
  5. i like em better already candy coated chocolate baseball team
  6. Going the other way is not a bad philosophy, but you have to take what the pitcher gives you. You shouldn't slap a pitch weakly somewhere just to go the other way. Hitting a pitch with authority will generally get you better results, if the pitch is in a spot where you can go the other way - all the better. right, and i feel like many of players don't take what the pitchers give them...hence sometimes going the other way...it is just good fundamentals that seem to be lacking I don't think that's the fault of Lou though. The players went the other way plenty of times last year. When players get into big time slumps (like many are in now) fundamentals sometimes go out the window. That's not good, but it doesn't mean they can't play fundamental baseball. oh, i am not blaming lou...just saying that it is a smart way to play the game in certain situations

  8. but you would think that a manager would understand the strengths and weaknesses of his ballclub...if he doesn't have a bunch of fleas on his roster, he probably isn't going to want them to run wild on the base paths oh wait...going the other way? you think this is bad philosophy? really?
  9. As of a few days ago they still had no idea when he'd return. Now all of a sudden it's definitely Monday against Atlanta, a week before the All Star break. Why not give him another week and a half of recovery time and start after the ASB? We know it was going to be a time thing, and that he had to work on getting it as strong as possible. I have to think another week and a half would help. does it matter, he is going to be thrown in the fire sooner or later...he is ready...i am sure if he wasn't he would say so... all we have to do now is sit back and watch as our season either takes a turn for the better or drops us off at the deep end of a urine filled pool
  10. Why? because he is talented and most likely needs a change of scenery
  11. i wish the cubs would take him off of the pirates hands
  12. i am getting a bad feeling that he is going to be awesome for a couple of weeks and then need surgery
  13. Yes. I will admit I don't know what Wells' value would be around the league. He wasn't in the top 30 prospects for the Cubs before the year - no value at all there - but has been pretty dominant in the majors this year. He was basically Kevin Hart or Mitch Atkins before the season, but has definitely improved the stock significantly. It really doesn't matter what someone's perceived value was prior to the start of the season. It's what someone's value is currently that matters, and Randy Wells' value is currently worth more than a bullpen arm on a last place team in the NL. ERA WHIP BAA 2007 2.02 0.96 .185 2008 3.58 1.21 .229 2009 1.34 1.01 .171 Randy Wells is a nothing and you sell high...Wells for Bell...those are bells numbers the past two seasons and the first half of this season fair trade
  14. i guess i could see a trade for bell and then a one for teahan that is my guess for the deadline i believe kansas city mark is coming our way and i believe a bullpen arm is as well...i just don't know which one
  15. lol yeah, the outfield is pathetic right now, but worst in the league? you sure you really mean that!?
  16. So you're complaining that we're not vomiting praise for a random and completely unfunny thread? no, not complaining i just found the reactions and similarities interesting considering this site takes itself extremely seriously and the other doesn't
  17. it is thread reactions like these that make this place no different than a place like ateaseweb.com except over there you can cuss and be rude to your hearts delight without the fear of a timeout
  18. He just turned 24. I'd gamble that there might be something there with Milledge all day long over what you know you're going to get with Nyjer Morgan. I suppose so. I still think Milledge ends up being nothing more than a 4th OF maybe so, but i am in agreement with BigbadB...i would do this all day long...high reward, very low risk
  19. pretty awesome that the nats are selling him off great deal for the pirates if it goes through
  20. Most of the time PTBNL's have nothing to do with how the major league player performs after the trade. Sometimes the PTBNL is already known at time of trade but simply can't be traded yet for some reason or another, and at other times the PTBNL is chosen from a list that was decided on at the time of trade. It's rare to have a situation like the Cubs have with Rich Hill where the player received is tied to how well he pitches. It's usually only done with players like Hill who are talented but have fallen on very hard times. I don't think DeRosa's AB's or his performance with the Cardinals will have anything to do with what quality of PTBNL the Indians get back. oh...we are still missing a player in the hill trade? Yes. We haven't received anybody in that deal yet. The deal will have to be finished with either a player or cash in the next little over a month (August 2nd). Since Hill has already made 8 starts for the Orioles, my guess is that the Cubs will get their pick of the better of the two lists of players. i knew there was a reason i was rooting on OPR this season...hopefully it is a helpful player in more than one avenue
