  1. but now Zambrano is back P/H so it's not necessary. 8-[
  2. Yeah, makes no sense, especially since the Bears have done pretty well vs. GB in Lovie's tenure. If anything, he could say he was brought in to beat Minnesota, who is a better team than GB and has a defense that is almost impossible to run on. But I'm pretty sure the Bears brought in Cutler with the hopes of him helping them beat whoever represents the AFC in the Superbowl. In the quotes provided, Dungy doesn't even mention Green Bay. He just says "one team" and the writer apparantly assumes it's Green Bay. It would make more sense as Minnesota, but it's still a rather ridiculous sentiment. He was brought in to be the quarterback for 19 games this year and the next 10 years after. :D
  3. Fontenot has gone .344/.353/.469 in the last 14 days. Hopefully this continues and they can get something out of 2B until Ramirez gets back.
  4. hopefully it will be more along the lines of a Hoffpauir/Johnson platoon (with Fukudome playing pretty much everyday), but I won't hold my breathe.
  5. i don't think it's that bad just because when wells has a bad start or two, knee-jerk lou will put marshall back in. as long as wells pitches well he'll stay in the rotation. agreed. as much as i hate having Patton waste space on the roster, i think the Marshall to the pen thing is temporary and may even possibly pay dividends by saving his arm a bit (not that Lou is doing it for that reason).
  6. seems like a strange time to bump this thread considering Soto was actually pretty good in May, even with the very poor SLG.
  7. all of our guys? who's sitting...soto and bradley? it's pretty reasonable to give your catcher a game off on a day game after night game. everybody has been wanting to get Hoff more at bats, and Bradley probably needs to be handled carefully. i don't see the big problem. edit: and Theriot. i knew i was forgetting someone. Why not let hoff play today at first since we got a tough righty on the mound and we have to be more lefthanded this year when possible? I would have been fine with that as well. But the team is not being careful with Lee like they are with Bradley. And Bradley is needed the next couple of days against the left-handers. Yeah, i thought about that, but Lee has been hot and hit Billingsley well last year. I don't know Bradley's history against Billingsley.

Actually a third of our normal starters are sitting. Theriot, Soto, and Bradley. yeah, i missed Theriot the first time.

  10. it's bad, but i wouldn't call it a forfeit lineup. Fontenot has been warming up (vs. RHP). Scales and Hill have been hot against RHP. Meh...it could be worse.
  11. yeah. as terrified as i am of Fox at 3B, Fontenot has been pretty horrible there anyway.
  12. well putting Fox at 3B in the 9th inning of a one run game seems like a horrible idea, not that he had much choice.
  13. everyone knew it was about getting more left-handed. i don't know what else there is for Hendry to say. it's not like he's going to say, "Well, we wanted to sell high before Mark tanked this season." Or, "We brought in those guys to trade for Peavy but, damnit, it didn't happen." it's really not his style. the stuff about fan reaction to the original signing is pretty pointless though.
  14. that's gotta be it for Z. 108 pitches
  15. Did it look serious? i'm listening to the radio broadcast, not watching.
  16. Bruce on this as well: http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/2051 Miles to the DL and/or Cotts to Iowa.
  17. i really hope wrigley rat got some bad info. that would be a horrible decision. just end the patton experiment and lets move on.
  18. So DeRosa will adjust to hitting in a "new" league but Bradley won't? I don't really buy your logic on adjusting too much to begin with, but if you're going to run with it, at least apply it across the board.
  19. Give Wainwright credit for knocking that one down. That guys got a family to think about!
  20. To get Hoff in the lineup, or what? i guess. according to Lou (via Len), Soriano to 2B, Hoff to LF. WOOT, a run!
  21. What do they have to lose? a lot, defensively. i'm not sure i'd do something that drastic because of three bad games offensively. seems like an over-reaction at this point.
  22. wait, Lou actually mentioned possibly moving Soriano to 2B? oh my...
