  1. I think it was just Northern California/Giants, due to the potentially cool weather at night which he didn't think would be good for his knees/joints.
  2. Those are pretty aggressive ETA's on Baez and Almora, I'd probably bump them back a year each before they are full time guys and that's still close to best case scenario. Unless a cup of coffee in September counts in ETA (but then I'd expect Soler/Vizcaino to be moved up a year each for their ETA's).
  3. Yes, 75 or 80. Lake's arm is probably better than most pitchers in the system, granted it would be much more raw than any of them if he were to take the mound tomorrow.
  4. Hoyer seems like a really cool guy
  5. I'd probably guess they are close. Difference being, Hamilton (Reds guy) appears to have moderate on base skills and him stealing bases and using his speed doesn't mean having to have someone else get on base and take their place.
  6. Obligatory Rich Harden coming back from injury ST piece http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/minnesota-twins-rich-harden-trying-to-come-back-from-shoulder-surgery-021913
  7. Honeybadger has just taken his operations to a different campus
  8. Generally speaking, the choice is between 13/12 and 14/11. 12/13 has been done, but it's pretty rare. Which way? That's what I'm asking. I always thought you tend to carry an extra pitcher than a position player.
  9. Because they are telegraphing the move pretty hard. He's Sveum's buddy, he's pretty much the only guy in camp who vaguely resembles a utility man besides Valbuena, and they aren't going to use prospects in that role. Is it set that we are carrying 13 position players and 12 pitchers? Don't most teams usually do it the other way around? Is the schedule light to start the year that carrying 12 pitchers would be enough? I have 12 locks on offense. Castillo/Navarro Rizzo Barney Castro Stewart Valbuena Soriano Dejesus Sappelt Scheirholtz Hairston
  10. None of the dumb [expletive] reporters that cover the Cubs will even think of that. Instead they are probably busy tracking down the 7th inning stretch guy/girl who got fired to do an expose on him/her. Which brings up another question, how was that even a full time job? That seems to be something that can be covered by a few different people in marketing/PR/communications coming together once or twice a week to schedule the "singers" for the next week/homestand?
  11. I agree, I see us picking somewhere in the top 12 next year but probably not top 4. I'd probably throw the D'backs and Indians in that group of the last teams that are close to us as well.
  12. Yeah, that is a weird one. If you asked me I would have said Ewing only played on the Knicks in his career. On another note, apparently the Hawks are telling teams they are going to trade Josh Smith before the deadline Thurdsay. Nets, Bucks, Suns, Wizards, Celtics are all in on him, apparently.
  13. I would imagine just like the regular season, using reverse standings (based on 2012 finish) with the worst team getting first choice to claim that's in the same league with the team that DFA'd the player then moving over to the other league if/when every other team in the same league passes and starting over from reverse standings there.
  14. White Sox had Dye/Griffey/and Wise in like 2008. Dodgers had Kemp/Gynn/Hairston Jr. on the team last year (guessing they started at the same time at least once in the OF) and had Kemp/Pierre/A. Jones a few years ago as well. Phillies had Mayberry Jr./Brown/Pierre last year. Andruw Jones isn't African-American. I did not know that. Pirates had McCutchen/N. Morgan/ L. Milledge/C. Monroe on their roster in 2009, I'm guessing they all were in the OF at the same time for a few games.
  16. The Big East and Big 12 are the only major conferences that schedule games on Monday's, it's better than showing [expletive] Horizon League, CAA, SWAC, Southern League, MACC, and MEAC games.
  17. Sandoval showed up in Giants camp weighing 262 lbs, but says he's in shape. Okay, Pablo :good:
  18. Castro looks about the same size as last year to me, but it could be the angles of the only 2 pictures that were out today. And Soler looks like a stud
  19. I don't think the D'backs are any closer to playoff aspirations this year than the Cubs are. Just another dumb acquisition by Towers
  20. Remind Towers of a tree a young Jeter once owned
  21. I'd probably go (for teams that are locks/in contention to be in the tournament) 1. Michigan- Final Four/NC ceiling 2. Indiana- Final Four/NC ceiling 3. Wisconsin- Elite 8 Ceiling 4. MSU- Final Four Ceiling 5. OSU- Elite 8 Ceiling 6. Illinois- Sweet 16 Ceiling 7. Iowa- 1 win ceiling 8. Minnesota- Sweet 16 Ceiling Then I don't care about the rest
