    I was starting to think iowa might make it in at 9-9 until I realized they have the easiest conf schedule possible. the "we were .500 in the best conference in america" argument isn't as impressive once you realize 2/3 of those wins come from neb/penn st/nw/purdue. Yeah if they get to only 9-9 they will probably have to win 2 in the Big Ten tournament, imo. They don't have a whole lot of good wins. Their best wins are WIS, Northern Iowa, Iowa State, and now Minnesota (who is also on the bubble now and will probably finish 9-9 at best with IND and OSU 2 of their last 5 games).

    When are Stanek and Manea making their first starts, if you know? Today too. I was just listing matchups between top draft prospects. Gotcha, thanks. Is there a good gamecast type thing available anywhere to follow CBB live? Or do you pretty much have to wait for post-game box scores to see how guys did?

    Cubs are on MLBN "30 Clubs in 30 Days" thing tonight, airs at 5, 7 and 10 CT. They usually don't have any ground breaking insight but hopefully they have some good interviews with players/coaches/FO and we will at least get to see some video from spring.

    Old CBA rules I'd be fine with taking him in the 3-5 rounds and going over (possibly well over if he checks out medically) slot, under the new rules not so much given the spending/allocation limits. What was the offer the Red Sox gave him when they drafted him out of HS? He has to be second guessing that decision now. I know everyone has their reasons and I've never been in the situation to decide, but if I'm a HS pitcher and taken in the first couple of rounds I sign and take the guaranteed money.

    Why were the 2 walk rate good/bad lines different? I realize I'm probably missing something huge here... Yeah the red line was his bb% for both seasons 2011 (13.7%) 2012 (7.3%), so that moved. The good/poor rates stayed constant.

I think he meant "top 3" as Garza/Samardzija/Jackson are the "top 3" of the rotation. Feldman has a spot but he isn't guaranteed to be the "number 4" he could be the "number 5" and that there is one spot left, that one spot could be for the #4/5 spot. That's how I read it, that those guys are guaranteed the "top 3" spots and that Feldman has a spot but it isn't determined yet if he is 4/5.

    So it's between Wood and Villanueva for the 4/5 spot? Who else is even in consideration? I like giving Feldman a spot in the rotation, rather than the bullpen to start the year. Also I agree it's smart to have Baker start in AAA and/or EXST to build up strength and refine his stuff.

    That is interesting. I wonder if he makes it to the second round. Its also scary. Shoulder fatigue is a worse indicator than elbow stress isn't it? Yes and it isn't close. More often than not shoulder injuries kill pitchers career's, while elbow injuries (specifically recovering from TJS) are becoming more of an inconvenience that delay a pitcher's development by about a year and be able to come back to pre-injury form or better once recovered.

    Agreed, Cubs probably wanted to see if he would take a little less than what he'd cost right now if he were a FA to be secure for the next 5 years and he's made enough already in his career and knows if he can pitch like he did last year or improve for the next two he probably can get 5+ years and around $15-18 in aav after the next two years. He's signed for $2.64mm this year with a significant bump likely coming next year. I'm guessing they offered somewhere around 5/55 (guessing it was something like 3.5 in 13', 8 in 14', 12 in 15', 15 in 16' and 18 in 17').
