  1. I figured they wouldn’t really make any real progress through the Holiday’s/New Year. Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks now that we’re past that and they get a sense of a deadline with ST/season approaching. I still would lean they hammer something out and don’t miss any part of the season, maybe they lose a week or two of ST.
  2. I saw the NBA is considering in-season tournaments styled after European soccer - precisely to make the long regular season more interesting. Don't know if that applies to baseball in some format but I think the regular season is too long and agree making it less meaningful but really dull things out. At least in the NBA, the better teams generally win in the playoffs. A mid season tournament would hold no meaning to me in the NBA or MLB.
  3. I liked what I saw out of Arizona the few times I’ve watched them play this year. Seems like a typical Arizona type/style team except they don’t have the gutless choking dog, scumbag, Sean Miller coaching it anymore.
  4. Tennessee deserved to lose with the horsefeathers play calling to end regulation and in OT. Also, that call at the end wasn’t a bad call. His forward progress was stopped. People can argue that they should've let them play longer due to the situation, but frankly he was being held up at the 2 and was stopped. Pretending that this was somehow a terrible call is horsefeathers, it wasn't even a wrong call. Also, the whole "whistle came after" idiocy completely ignores how the rules work. It's the same as when they say there was a strip but called as no fumble because of forward progress being stopped. Disagree x2, other than yes Tenn did some dumb stuff with clock management and play calling. They let guys fight all the time for extra yards, especially around the goal line and he was pushing forward most of the time and never down. Hell a Tenn RB, earlier in the game, had a run around midfield where he was effectively stopped but was allowed to fight for ~3 more yards. And the whistle rule is just completely stupid, even if it was technically right by the rule book. Purdue also should’ve gotten flagged for delay of game at some point on defense with dudes faking/hyping injuries to slow down the pace/flow they couldn’t keep up with.
  5. The refs in the Tennessee game should be put in jail. What a screw job to Tennessee on that touchdown no call.
  6. Correa, Conforto, Seager and some sort of RHH OF capable of playing CF (Davis up by mid season) while trading Happ for some pitching (Merrill Kelly or something maybe) and bring Chafin back and call it an offseason.
  7. Yeah front load it and give an opt out in his age 30 year makes sense
  8. Levine seems to be one of the more connected guys so I take this as mostly a good, and true, thing we seem to be pretty serious about Correa. The difference between 8 and 10 years seems pretty nominal when talking about a contract of this scale, if we’re that serious and he wants to be here I’d think they can figure something out. Also with the SP profile it makes so much sense to sign one of the best defensive SS in baseball.
  9. Kiermaier sucks and is especially sucky for the roster and his profile unless they’re getting a decent prospect(s) back.
  10. Why is he allowed to practice but not play in Brooklyn? What’s the rules/restrictions there that one is allowed but the other isn’t?
  11. Going for it on 4th inside the 5 going in to halftime I felt was kinda stupid. Could’ve gone up 7, didn’t get the benefit of field position if you don’t get it and then can stop the Chiefs where you at least can get the ball back around the 50. The other 4th down attempts all seemed reasonable to me though.
  12. The scouting and lab guys would have to think they could tweak something. But Vince Velasquez has a profile of the velo add if they think there’s a tweak to be made. He has one of best FBs of SPs in MLB and uses it a ton, he’s had some okay years. He throws a cutter/slider, change/sinker and curve. Maybe there’s one he needs to scrap/mix up the usage more.
  13. Zion's weight has been a big discussion here for awhile now. The Pels organization under Griffin has lost a lot of credibility with how they've handled the whole Zion saga since he was drafted, which is reinforcing the idea that the foot is not really what's keeping him out now. With how Twitter world is piling on him lately, the chances that Zion is in New Orleans next year has basically gone from small to nil. He's in year three, which means he's at the point where others are getting rookie extensions on big contracts. Who the hell would give him a big deal right now? Unless he’s completely losing it off the court/not following conditioning stuff/the org is just inept and they feel he’s a lost cause I’d be pretty surprised if he doesn’t sign the rookie extension. Seems like it’s in everyone’s best interest. He locks in generational money, the team isn’t stuck with that bad of a deal or big deal and they can always move him after. And maybe he gets in better shape and things turn out fine.
  14. It’s not an overly serious event (he self admitted he’s not really able to compete against the big dogs anymore) but still is crazy he’s able to golf to some level after the accident.
  15. I think Michigan and whoever the 4 seed is gets absolutely throttled in the playoffs vs Georgia and Bama. The BIG sucks this year and Iowa really sucks. We’re getting a Bama-Georgia championship. I’d be pretty shocked if Bama and Georgia aren’t 2 point favorites in their first round games.
  16. I don’t think they’re really that far off from a deal/middle ground in reality. There’s no huge asks by either side it seems they can’t sort through. Everyone can have a few weeks here to get their sound bytes and tweets and what not out to sound mad or whatever, but I think end of the day they’ll get something done sooner than later (in terms of losing games/affecting the season). The Covid season negotiations may have helped a bit too since they had to sort some similar things out for that. The owners are dug in. This will take forever They’re dug in until they aren’t. They’ll come to some sort of agreement (good or not) before losing a season or part of a season.
  17. I’d be shocked if this thing lasts in to the season and they start losing games. I’d bet they have something done in February at the latest. This is so optimistic but how can you feel this way? They've had months to negotiate and walked away after 7 minutes yesterday. What will create the incentive between now and February that wasn't already there? I don’t think they’re really that far off from a deal/middle ground in reality. There’s no huge asks by either side it seems they can’t sort through. 18. He’s an over the top homer, loser, who just constantly posts and retweets obnoxious Cubs stuff. He’s also close with Happ and his stupid coffee nonsense. I muted him a long time ago because he would defend the ricketts a lot and just seemed like a big shill I never got the sense he’s a Rickett’s shill. He’s just insanely over the top optimistic idiot at all times. Like even when the cubs are out of the playoffs he’d still say they can win the World Series
  19. Nothing will get done until players start losing checks and owners start losing ticket revenue I’d be shocked if this thing lasts in to the season and they start losing games. I’d bet they have something done in February at the latest.
