    Yeah but what kind of ceiling does that give him? That .423 OBP is surrounded by a .355 SLG and .242 BA just on the surface, does that really really scream star hitter to anyone? He's also not an inexperienced guy for his age, this is his 7th full year in a pro org which is *way* more than most guys can say His skill set kinda sounds like Grandal to me.

    Eh, I'm not looking to buy high on anyone but a star or somehow available superstar but also have no idea who is available, even if there's some tweaking to do. For example I much, much, much prefer German Marquez to Gray. Gray's rocking a 10% K-BB and hasn't really gained back the velocity he lost. Marquez hasn't lost anything in the way of stuff and even while struggling has better all around numbers balancing just slightly fewer GBs with way more pop ups and Ks. Definitely want a SP, a good and established one preferably under contract for next season (Marquez, Berrios, Ryu, someone like that so g'luck there) I want a bat wherever Bryant isn't playing but :dontknow: Oh Marquez would be awesome or a similar guy. I just don’t know if they’ll buy to that level and give up real prospects. Because he probably takes 1 of the top 5-7 or so guys in the system plus other stuff. Just try to keep my expectations lower than hoping for a major add.

    My ideal deadline/adds would be Jon Gray, Adam Frazier and potentially some sort of RH bat that hits lefties (position shouldn’t overly matter with KB and others abilities to move between IF/OF).

    Probably shouldn’t be walking Max horsefeathering Schrock on a day the wind is howling in.

    Nick and Winker are both due for some serious regression, they aren’t that good of hitters. Hopefully it starts this weekend.

    If they have room to add I’d really like to see us do it soon and jump the market/division. Even if they’re just smaller adds. That gives them enough time they could even re-flip anyone acquired if they fall out of it. But there’s a real chance to win this horsefeathers division. I like Asdrubal or Eduardo Escobar as smaller infield adds, especially if Nico is gonna be down for a long time and they won’t cost much. Probably could use another pitcher too, get Jon Gray you cowards.

    The division sucks, their roster wasn’t that bad going in to the year, it’s a high variance sport and roster and over ~45 games I don’t think this is a “blown away” spot to be in for us. They probably have like a 6-10 stretch coming, which may not even knock them too far down in the division.

    Javy has 11 errors already, that seems like a lot. Easily could have 12 with that play last inning by throwing that ball he should’ve ate.

    0.53 ERA (including today) 3.45 xERA (not including today) 4.32 xFIP (including today) I actually somehow expected it to look even worse FIPs in the 5s the last two years and he’s just way too wild. He’s nowhere near this good. I get guys are down/hurt so get having to use him today, just hope the smoke and mirrors performance doesn’t give him a ton of leverage moving forward once we get a little more healthy. He’s fine as one of your last 1-2 relievers and treated as such.

    Dan Winkler horsefeathering sucks. His results so far are not indicative of any actual skill or underlying things that say he’s a good pitcher. He’s a Duensing, Justin Wilson, etc type.

    Don’t mind the move. Ortega hit well in spring and has done the contact thing as a major leaguer (think he also made a swing adjustment or something iirc, his power numbers jumped in 2019). Also this means KB back to infield more and only 1 of Bote/Sogard playing every day over Nico while he’s out, also (optimistically) could mean maybe Nico’s injury isn’t as severe as it looked since they didn’t go with Alcantara.

    We have the best RD in the division and probably 1 more Cardinals loss away from having the only positive RD in the division

    Look forward to them horsefeathering around with Rizzo, keeping him on the roster making it short handed and him putting up like a .500 OPS until mid June as a pinch hitter/part time starter until he’s finally IL’d and him back to normal by the 4th instead of just giving him the ~10 days off here. Also just give Javy off for a few days now that Nico and Happ are back and Duffy/Sogard/Bote are fine to play for 3-5 days. They’re so bad at this “day to day” horsefeathers.

    The runner on second rule remains the dumbest thing and doesn’t make games more exciting or get done sooner

    Feel like I’d Javy doesn’t hear someone yelling “tag” there the default should be to know to throw back to 1B to try and turn that. But regardless terrible communication/knowing what’s going on. Not tagging 1B was the right move, Javy needs to know to throw back to 1B somehow.
