  1. Love him as a target
  2. I'm not even excited about FA yet because I'm assuming we won't do anything until the CBA is in place, and that probably wont be until like February It's the perfect excuse not to do anything. I expect they'll sign two #3 or 4 type starting pitchers and call it an offseason. No way they do that. They may be greedy and cheap assholes but they aren’t dumb and not gonna run an As, Brewers, Rays, etc type payroll. They know they need to try and compete and I expect them to be plenty active and spend decently and add talent. But yeah, it may take until like March with the CBA.

  4. Give us the NL DH and bring my beautiful Georgie back
  5. I’m surprised this new Saudi League vs the PGA thing isn’t getting a little more attention. Sounds like there’s a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes now and some significant PGA players are looking at jumping. The PGA has threatened to ban any player for life if they join this new league. They’re going to be getting so much more money, allegedly, by the rumors $30-50 mil guaranteed salary per year plus huge tournament purses. And only a 12 event season.
  6. They’ve also tried to get an interview with Sterns twice now and I think he said no the first time (when he just GM and then Brewers promoted him to Pres of Baseball Ops). This time the Brewers blocked it since he has the president of Baseball Ops title now and you can block interviews since that’s the highest position/no promotion anymore.
  7. 98 wRC+ away for his career is pretty bad. I get the adjustment thing but that still scares me. He also was pretty horrible this year for getting half his games in Coors, he turns 29 by opening day and a lot of his value is tied to defense which at 29 he probably doesn’t have a lot of premium SS years ahead of him on his next deal. Just would rather use the money on someone else, especially because he likely has a QO attached to him. I’d rather just sign a Jose Iglesias type on a cheap/short deal and let Nico get some reps at SS if we aren’t adding Correa or Seager. But again 98 wRC+ is not bad for a Rockies player. In fact, Story has the 9th best away wRC+ in Rockies history (min 400 PA). I'm not saying Story is my first choice, but he should be a quality hitter and provide strong defense for at least the first couple of years of the deal (and may retain some of that defensive value if moved off SS in the back half). I think he's worth going after if we don't go after/get Correa or Seager over in house options unless his market is ridiculous. Just not a fan, if we’re willing to spend what it takes to sign him I’d rather use that money in other ways or even wait 1-2 FA periods from now.

    NFL Week 7

Miami either has assurances that Watson will be reinstated/allowed to play (or they're just dumb, which is just as likely) Or they could just put contingencies on the deal that they give up more if he’s cleared to by x, y and/or z, etc dates.
  9. Yeah this seems like a great hire. Degree in statistics and a PHD in quant psychology and was a visiting professor.
  10. Very much am interested in him.
  11. What about Story's road splits are different than any other good Rockies hitter that moves teams? Most Rockies hitters struggle on the road, not because they are actually bad hitters that Coors makes good but because of the adjustment of playing a Coors and then playing at sea level. There are reasons to not love Story but I don't think his road splits are one of them. There might be a slight depression in stats but you can't look at his road numbers and assume that's the hitter he is on another team.
  12. Absolutely no interest in Story, don’t trust the road splits and having the QO attached.
  13. Hope he gets paid but glad it isn’t us. I think any sort of big deal for him will end up being bad, I don’t see him aging well. He gave us a ton of fun moments but fine being doing with it.
  14. I’ve been a proponent of getting a competent backup C for years now, Vic was okay but never was a big fan. Maddon and Ross have ridden Willy in to the ground multiple seasons because of no viable backup. You should be able to get a good backup for ~$5 mil and keep Willy more rested/DH him if we get that.
  15. Chris Taylor would be a nice offseason addition. He’s basically a backup for every spot and can start him almost every day somewhere. Hell I wouldn’t mind moving Happ and just making him the CF’er full time with some sort of LHH defensive caddy so he can also be Nico/Madrigal/Wisdom insurance.
  16. As someone who doesn’t have NBA fandom I may adopt this Bulls team this year. They’re gonna be fun and think they should be plenty good. I think they’re firmly in that second tier of teams in the east that include Philly (they might be in their own tier 2 if Simmons comes back and plays normal/he’s flipped for some talent), Miami, Atlanta, Boston behind the Nets and Bucks in tier 1 in the east
  17. Make Yadi player, manager cowards
  18. lol Brewers and Hader. Yelich is broken and the Brewers horsefeathering suck. Spend money and resources this offseason Jed because this division sucks.
  19. The Red Sox have been under .500 3 of the last 7 years. Far more likely the White Sox are just kind of good and not some juggernaut, sustainable success team since they don’t really have a super star and seemingly are tapped out on spending. Their division gives them a little handicap but they really aren’t all that good or set up all that well. This core hasn’t won a playoff series yet, they might just be perfectly mediocre without the ability to really add.
  20. horsefeathers the White Sox and their petty little brother fans who have to relate everything to the Cubs for no reason on top of the local media mostly fawning over them. I was told rebuilds were easy and they’re a dynasty. Lol
  21. The Ravens games all year have been roller coasters. They could easily be 1-4 right now.
  22. To get this back on track Over 20: Highest upside - Davis Best player - Davis (I’m all in) 20 and under: Highest upside - Hernandez or Alcantara Best player - Caissie
  23. Lorenzo Cain appearing to have a catastrophic injury and then staying in the game, I’m shocked
  24. Yeah that’s such a [expletive] call/ruling. Grandal clearly was out of the line and intentionally went there knowing where the throw was going. Gets back to they should just add the double bag like in little league and softball. Runner can and has to stay on the foul side the whole time to hit the bag in foul territory. Would make first base collisions basically go away and get rid of a lot of these interference issues.
