  1. I hope Javy is someone else’s problem next year
  2. Ross is a complete horsefeathering moron with his bullpen management
  3. All but 1 NL East team, the Yankees, Padres, Jays, Rays, Astros, White Sox, Cardinals and Twins all have as many or more losses as the Cubs (who suck and we have the right to hate) at this point. If you told us that going in to the year ~20 games in you’d think we’d be like 15-5 or something.
  4. If he went through Arb he probably gets close to that. At most it’s like a $2-3 mil overpay over the 5 years. It’s $3 mil a year, it’s nothing and he’s fine.
  5. We do have him for $10 mil cheaper than the price you quoted! frankly my dear, i don't really give a horsefeathers He’s been worth ~3 WAR in ~750 career PAs. The two years he’s gotten over 200 PAs he has over 1 WAR in each year. It’s almost literally no money and he’s plenty worth the contract. By $ per WAR he could pass the value this year or next year alone (I think the contract kicked in last year, if it kicked in, in 2019 he very likely exceeds the $/WAR value this year). Like I said earlier, he’s plenty worth the contract. It isn’t bad or too much. It’s just that his flaws and strengths are the flaws and strengths of most of the rest of the team so what he brings is a little redundant in terms of making a complete offense but he still brings value.
  6. Bote is perfectly fine at the money he makes it's a waste, we should have him for cheaper We do have him for $10 mil cheaper than the price you quoted!
  7. We need to just start taking out games vs the VBs when evaluating the offense
  8. You’d think at least 1-2 of Happ, Pederson and Heyward get straightened out soon enough that they become + on the WAR side and hopefully Nico brings something once he’s up (hopefully soon).
  9. KB is locked the horsefeathers in. Holy hell those were MVP KB level walks he’s worked tonight.
  10. Lol at a standing ovation for Almora. Also, not all Heroes wear capes.
  11. Bote is one of many Theo signings that didn’t meet expectations. Theo was consistent. What were the expectations? Other than he’s an over qualified backup/second division starter? The only real issue with Bote is that his flaws are the flaws of most of the other players on the team, not that he isn’t worth the money.
  12. Okay Gilmore
  13. Yeah Woodruff hasn’t thrown more than ~120 innings in a season ever and he’s already 28 too, Peralta has only gone over 130 once in a season and that was back in 2018 and he barely passed 100 innings in 2019 and 20 combined. Woodruff and Peralta both have had some injuries in recent years too. Burnes, Woodruff and Peralta are all very talented, Burnes and Woodrufd especially, but they’re probably going to have to manage innings at some point this year and they’re still pitchers and could blow out at any time.
  14. Burnes is in God Mode Jake/2020 Yu mode right now. Good thing we miss him this weekend (not that we will hit VB pitching anyways).
  15. Get Maybin and Nico up here to start taking some playing time away from Javy and Joc
  16. I seem to remember an instance of Dusty with Cincy leaving a pitcher in to throw a ton of pitches in the first two innings and the guy either got hurt within a couple starts or his performance just plummeted immediately after. That was Harang, right? His career was basically over after that.
  17. I mean we are like 15 games in to the year, how is that given? It literally would take a few games of little contact to drop him outside the top 5-10 probably.
  18. Yeah it’s not a coincidence. They have to believe they have an edge in identifying and developing catchers, which the track record is there (Contreras, Vic, Amaya, others in the system that get praise). I’d also guess it’s part of their roster building philosophy that having home grown and cheap/young catching is valuable and efficient and spending on catching is risky/inefficient. Plus the IQ thing you mentioned and often good enough bats they could move off the position.
  19. Lot of 91-92s out of Flaherty in the Cards-Nats game so far. I see his velo is down 1-2 MPH across the board on all his pitches so far this year.
  20. I mean there’s a reason you don’t often see guys throw more than ~30 pitches in an inning. It’s taxing on an arm to do that. This 47 pitch inning comes after a 30+ pitch inning vs Cleveland last week in his last start. If this treatment continues I’d be shocked if he doesn’t get hurt or at least sees a performance/velo/stuff drop off.
  21. I definitely think they matter but think they largely matter more with adversely/negatively affecting you by doing stupid horsefeathers like pitching guys too much, being an ass in the clubhouse, playing the wrong guys, etc. I think it’s hard for a manager to positively affect a team and add a ton of wins but think it’s not hard for managers to add to losses for you.
  22. He hasn’t pitched since Monday and there’s an off day tomorrow (possibly Wednesday with the weather) and 4 off days in the next 20 days. Also the Braves are probably one of the teams who will be in on a trade for him, may as well make it a pseudo showcase.
