  1. The defensive metrics suck, especially at 1B. Pete Alonso is a disaster there. They sub him out of games for defense late.
  2. Hell yeah, horsefeathers these mother [expletive]. They’ve been throwing at us for 2 years now.
  3. DONG, there’s goes Schwarber being technically good again but not cool.
  4. Didn’t Rizzo do the same thing last year? That one actually led to a couple runs because the catcher was throwing the ball. Yeah he did it last year or the year before to a Pirates catcher (not Cervelli) iirc. The throw to 1B ended up in RF and the catcher might have gotten hurt
  5. I can’t remember a time, with largely this same group, that this team has ever won a road playoff series. You’re right.
  6. You mean the Cubs record will tank. This team is probably the 2nd best in the NL but for some odd reason I have no faith. Maybe I've been spoiled with the last 4 years Weirdly, this team will almost certainly finish with fewer wins than last years team but I much much much prefer this team. Maybe its because the way the 2018 team played down the stretch was so bad. This team has furious hot and cold streaks, more than the average MLB team (no dont show me numbers I know I'm right) but when Kimbrel comes through and if the starting pitching stays strong, they'll be more than fine. The division playoff and WC game sucked but they finished 34-22 from August-Sept, 18-10 Aug, 16-12 Sep. that’s not “bad.” It took a team playing at like 140 win pace for ~40 games to make it “bad.”
  7. Just for reference.... I know we all wanted Bryce and a lot wanted Machado (I didn't really care for him, given the contract it took and thinking he had red flags to being elite) and of course they make us better but just for reference where their current seasons would rank with the Cubs. Machado: WAR: 6TH with 2 guys (Almora and Heyward within .2 of him and Schwarber within .3) wOBA: 9TH of the position players, 12th if you include Cargo and Russell wRC+: Same as wOBA, 9TH of the position players, 12th if you include Cargo and Russell Bryce: WAR: 4th but only .2 away from Willy for 5th wOBA: 6TH wRC+: 7TH I feel like there would be a lot of complaining about either of these guys right now and thinking the offense still wasn't that good.
  8. Javy last 14 games - .670 OPS Willy last 17 games - .564 OPS KB last 12 games - .609 OPS Rizzo last 10 games - .674 OPS conveniently picking my sample sizes of course. Every baseball player slumps, but its rough when the 4 best hitters on the team sort of slump at the same time. 7-7 over last 14, 7-10 over last 17, 6-6 over last 12, 6-4 over last 10. So even though they’re struggling we’re mostly surviving. Good thing the SP has been so good, the ebbs and flows happen and we knew this was likely our toughest stretch of the year with all these games in a row. Salvage the remaining part of the trip and get to the off day Monday to recharge.
  9. We just had a 6-1 home stand, but yes two games on the moon in this video game park is reason to think the sky is falling.
  10. Frighteningly so. Only when he doesn’t play the Brewers
  11. Just win 2-3 games the rest of this trip, off day Monday and schedule softens up and then we’ll catch a heater around then.
  12. Brach is horsefeathering miserable, I’d rather Maples take his spot for ~10 days until Kimbrel is up.
  13. It’s noise and probably evens out over time. I’d assume we’re already over .500 on the road since our 2-8 start or whatever on the road.
  14. We gotta vote Almora in over Yelich
