  1. Man in most other parks Rammy and Lee both have HR's this inning...
  2. Nice AB Milton, 2 AB's and he has seen 12 pitches.
  3. Dusty will find a way to get him at least 7 innings today.
  4. I have literally never heard of Darnell McDonald. Why isn't Tavares, Hopper or even Dickerson (I get the lefty/lefty thing but he has probably just a good a chance of hitting Johan than McDonald does) out there?
  5. Lineups: Johnson 2B Escobar SS Jones 3B McCann C Anderson LF Francoeur RF Kotchman 1B Schafer CF Lowe P Rollins SS Werth RF Utley 2B Howard 1B Ibanez LF Victorino CF Feliz 3B Ruiz C Myers P Braves are -120, I thought that was a rather odd line for the game I thought for sure the Phillies would be favored.
  6. How about the Cubs agree to a deal with the Nationals that the Cubs will play in Washington, while Wrigley is being renovated, for the 2010 and 2011 seasons (since the Cubs can actually get fans into games) in exchange for the rights to draft Strasburg this year? I think it's a pretty fair trade off.
  7. It's clear something needs to be done, either renovations or build a new stadium. I think it's going to be renovations as long as there aren't too many issues with getting permits and what not since Wrigley is a historic site or whatever. The Cubs could either play home games at Miller Park, The Cell or Soldier Field.
  8. No because 4 out of every 5 games they will have someone pitching who isn't Yovanni Gallarado and instead one of Suppan/Looper/Parra/Bush none of which will post a era lower than 4.2 and all will have .500 records.
  9. i thought he was getting skipped...? I thought the idea was that he was getting skipped in Houston and with the off day Thursday he will get an extra days rest to go Friday. I wouldn't be opposed to him getting a sim game or side session in on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and bumping him back to start Saturday or Sunday in Milwaukee.
  10. I don't think he has ever had arm injuries, I think the injuries that he has always had have been leg related. He had a minor knee procedure done in the offseason I believe.
  11. So is Harden going to get a sim game/side session in before he starts Friday in Milwaukee?
  12. he doesn't want to think about it right now but when the team is out of contention it's possible. FIXED
  13. Nope http://cubs.mlb.com/news/wrap.jsp?ymd=20050618&content_id=1094574&vkey=wrapup2004&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Lee's amazing numbers in 2005 were the only part of that team that was watchable. I remember attending a Cubs' loss in Milwaukee in June of that year. At the time Lee was batting .395. Patterson led off and struck out 4 times. I think I was at that game, and come on lets not forget the greatness that is Jeremy Burnitz :D
  14. I think unless Nicks or Heyward-Bey is still out there the Bears will go elsewhere with the 2nd round pick and take a WR later. Unless they got some guy ranked real high that isn't high on other boards.
  15. The thing that really makes me mad/I don't understand is that the team as it currently sits has no flexibility with the Infield (double switches, pinch runners/hitters, injuries, no real SS, etc.). Situations that come to mind are. - Lee/Ramirez/Soto get on base late in a close game, you really can't pinch run Gathright for any of them because once you use up Gathright to pinch run you then have to use someone to go replace him on defense and then have virtually no bench for injuries/extra innings/etc. Gathright's speed is a great asset to have, but when you can't use him to pinch run/sub for half the guys on your roster how useful does he become? - 2 of Theriot/Fontenot/Miles start a game between 2B/SS and for some reason 1 comes out of the game injury/pinch hit/defense/whatever we now have nobody on the team who can play 2B or SS. Should the game be extended, one of them gets hurt, Theriot/Miles/Fontenot comes up with RISP at the end of a game when a better bat is on the bench Hoffpauir/Ramirez/Lee/Johnson is a better option, you can't use any of those guys because you now have nobody to use on defense in the MI. I don't think it will be too long until a MI is brought up/traded for/signed.
  16. When is the last time our bullpen didn't give up a bunch of runs? Has to be like 2 weeks ago... It has been a while, but the key guys have all been doing fine Gregg/Marmol/Heilman and even Cotts have all pitched well and those will be the guys that see the bulk of the time pitching late in games with leads. It's not like Gaudin will be seeing a lot of hold or save situations if he even makes the team. The guys that have been sucking Gaudin/Wells/Hart/Guzman/Ascanio/Samardzija will either be pitching in mop up roles, in the minors or will be cut/traded so I am not to worried. At this point I think Lou will go to Patton in a close game late before Gaudin or Guzman, if Gregg/Heilman/Marmol/Cotts are unavailable..
  17. And looking at the two contracts, DeRosa is owed $5.5 mil. this year and Miles will get $4.9 over the two years here. I pretty sure $600,000 wasn't going to hold Hendry up in signing Bradley. I guess you could make a argument it saves us money this year and makes us a little more flexible, but big picture we are going to end up paying close to what DeRosa was owed this year. Like I also said it's not like we got a great prospect or two from the Indians they are all likely career minor leaguers and maybe 1 will turn into a league average MR. I would have taken our chances next year getting a supplemental pick in the draft and drafting someone over the 3 guys we got. To me it comes down to two things either Hendry was expecting/preparing for a Peavy deal that never happened or Hendry/Piniella wanted to get Fontenot more ab's.
  18. I think, if I remember correctly, that Bruce Miles basically insinuated as much around this board. I always kind of thought that it was a trade to either replenish the farm after a Peavy trade or to get prospects that the Padres specifically wanted. Found Bruce's insinuation: Exactly. I have a hard time believing that, if we were really trying to pinch pennies we wouldn't have given Miles a 2 year $5 mil. deal. We probably would have just signed a guy like Grudzielanek to a deal under $1 mil.
  19. Has it been confirmed by someone with the Cubs Hendry/Kenny that trading DeRosa was just for monetary reasons? Is it possible it could have been done for a expected Peavy deal? I mean it's not like we got a a guy in the deal that will help us out this year or ever even get to the majors. It's not like we owed DeRosa a big deal he only had 7ish left and was a FA after the year, likely type-a. After showing we were willing to spend money giving Demspter and Bradley big deals and signing Miles to a decent sized contract I find it hard to believe we traded DeRosa to save 2-3 mil (taking in Miles contract) for the year. Maybe is was just Hendry/Piniella wanted to get Fontenot in there more and see what he can do with 400-500 ab's.
  20. Braun is going to get an X-Ray. They did an interview with Macha after it happened and he didn't seem optimistic about the injury.
  21. Yeah well I'll probably watch most of the game so if they say anything more I will post it. It was on his right hand and even if it's just a bruise that could hold him out for a week or so as it's nearly impossible to grip/swing/hold a bat without you thumb.
  22. I live in Wisconsin and get Brewers games on FSN here and they are playing tonight against the Padres. In the first inning a fly ball was hit to Braun and somehow he missed it and it hit him in the hand/wrist area on the fly. The camera kept showing him during the inning and he kept trying to flex it and he looked real angry and now he was just taken out after the inning. Could be something to keep an eye on. As I am typing this the announcers say it is a thumb injury.
  23. QB is such the wrong position for the Lions to be looking at, unless there is a QB out there that is once in a generation good (which Stafford isn't) you don't take him. The lions need so much and taking QB #1 overall is just going to keep them set back. You build teams from the lines out and the lions need both o-line and d-line help and help at just about every other position except RB/WR. In other news apparently the Broncos are going to trade Cutler, I think he ends up with the Jets in a 3-way. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4031893
  24. Fuku with a triple and Lee doubles him in
