  1. I really don't have a problem with Soto hitting 7th. It will allow him to probably get more ab's with runners on and makes our lineup deeper, it also will provide Fontenot with some protection behind him. Which is important as he will benefit more from Soto behind him than Theriot.
  2. I don't think there is really anyway to know that, until he shows up in ST and starts playing with the Cubs, seeing as he has been playing and training in Japan/practicing with them for the WBC and nobody in Japan seems to know how to throw a fastball with movement (2-seamer/sinker/splitter/cutter/etc).
  3. and taking Lilly deep Looks like Lilly hung either a change or his slurve type pitch. Watching the game on the new MLBTV player and it looks really good, well worth the investment can't wait to see the Cubbies on it.
  4. When the Cubs were on WGN on saturday Len & Bob were talking to Rothschild and he was saying that him and Marmol were working on stuff before he left for the WBC and that they didn't everything done that they wanted to before he left, sounded like mechanical stuff. So I will just, hopefully, attribute that to Marmol not quite being "right" yet. I want Gregg to win the closer job anyways as Marmol in the 6/7/8>Marmol in the 9th/closing, so maybe this will push Lou in favor of giving Gregg the, overrated, Closer role. Has Gregg even pitched in ST? I haven't heard much about him.
  5. It shouldn't, but if Heilman was going out there and not being able to pitch out of an inning and had like a 10+ ERA you know people would be going crazy about the trade and all over Hendry for it.
  6. He's really the only guy giving Marshall any sort of competition for the #5 spot. Should be interesting to see how both start doing when they get to go 5-6 innings.
  7. That's Harden's final line. Hope to hear good news after the game and also tomorrow. Dempster now in. He threw a scoreless 3rd but had to work around 2 hits. I was hoping to see a pitch count, but it's not in the box score. He faced 8 batters. I guess we'll have to wait for an article from Carrie for a pitch count. I would guess he was somewhere between 20-35 just looking at the line. I doubt he went/was allowed to go over 40 his first time out.
  8. Looking at the box score I saw Patton (Rule 5 guy) had 2 scoreless innings with 3 K's. I only watched the game until the 3rd inning, anybody see him pitch? What does his stuff look like? Lou really seemed to like him during the interview at the game in Vegas.
  9. Pudge putting on a show, wouldn't be surprised if he signs with a team after this showing. Geo with a sharp single up the middle that's a double, single, BB and RBI for him today.
  10. So I have a Mac and I just subscribed for the year on MLBTV Premium, what do I all need to download to be able to get the new player/see the games in the highest quality?
  11. Yeah the most likely defensive replacement for us this year will be in late innings when we have a lead Gathright will go play CF and Kosuke will get bumped to RF and Bradley will go to the bench.
  12. I could see TO going to the Vikings, Browns, Ravens, Raiders, or Jaguars. With the dark horse being the Broncos.
  13. Yeah, that might work out to be a decent move picking him up. He probably will never be a everyday guy, but he could possibly be part of a platoon or 4/5 OF.
  14. So I would assume Hoff, Aram, Johnson, Theriot, Soriano and Fontenot will all be in the lineup tonight?
  15. Unless he gets hurt I don't see how he won't make the team out of ST. If Kosuke struggles early on I could see Gathright stealing ab's away from him, especially because Kosuke will be gone for all but about 1 week of ST.
  16. I think his conditioning is certainly an issue, but it can't be the only thing. He has to have some sort of mechanical flaw going on in his swing, whether it's hands, feet, arms, hitches, too much crouching, etc. I find it pretty crazy that since it's clear that he has lost something/needs fixing he is unwilling to try and change something in his swing. I mean he put up a .158/.256/.249 in 209 ab's and had 76 K's and only 3 HR. Assuming there are no injuries those are numbers that warrant some type of change in swing or approach, what's he scared of changing? It's not like if he changed something in his swing and batted .100 it would be a drastic fall off from last season.
  17. Can Crosby even play 3B, 2B, 1B, LF or RF? I know obviously he can't/won' play all of those positions, but if Crosby would get a spot on our roster he would at least have to be able to play half of those positions. Unless we get the A's to take $4+ mil. I don't have much interest and I'd rather we fill out our bench spot(s) with Hinske, Fox, Rivas, or Hoffpauir. The only thing Crosby brings is the fact he can at least be a real backup SS while Miles and Fontenot are both below average there, along with Theriot being average/below average out there almost everyday.
  18. 3-Run HR for Aram, Cubs up 6-0. Offense is showing some nice patience today only 2-3 BB's, but they are making the pitchers go deep into counts.
  19. Offensively he has done all he can do, but he is going to have to show he can play multiple positions (3B, 1B, LF, RF) with at least average D to make the team.
  20. 3 Scoreless, and hitless, innings for Marshall. Sounded like a real solid outing. 1 K and didn't seem like he gave up any hard hits, the A's announcer sounded very impressed.
  21. Sooo.... Z made his first start but there hasn't been much info on Harden in last few days any idea where he is at or when he is planning on starting a game?
  22. So based off of that lineup our OD lineup will likely look like Soriano LF Theriot SS Lee 1B Bradley RF Ramirez 3B Fontenot 2B Soto C Kosuke CF Z P Maybe swap Soto and Fontenot or Fontenot and Theriot and move Soto to 6 and Kosuke/Theriot 7/8
  23. Do you think we might show some interest? If the A's would take on some of his contract he wouldn't be a bad option if he could also play 3B and 2B along with SS.
