  1. Come the [expletive] on. They've hit the third most home runs on all of baseball this season; it's not [expletive] "pixie dust." They just dong a lot. Of course they have been donging a lot. That's my point, they are making up for their deficeincies in other areas by being on pace to hit the 4th most team HR's in Cardinal history. From essentially the same team from last year that ranked 24th in runs scored to 4th this year. You should read Jason Stark's article.
  2. Just from an eye test perspective of the 2016 Cardinals, it once again baffles me how this team is above .500 and in contention for the Wild Card play-in game. Their defense is absolutly horrible, their starting pitching has been middle of the pack, their bullpen however has been pretty good overall, and it boggles my mind that the line-up Matheny trots out there every day is 4th in runs scored, and to top it off they've had a ton of injuries. The Cardinal's "pixie dust" is in overdrive this year. We all know they will find a way to get past the 1 game play-in, probably beat Bumgarner of all people in the process, and face the Cubbies in a 5 game series to open the post season. We should be able to handle them, no question, but when that "pixie mojo" gets working in St. Louie, it can give me pause. It would be glorious once again to be the one's who send them home for the winter though. All things being equal, bring on the Giants/Pirates/ or Marlins.
  3. Hey Guys. Registered a long time ago but never post much. A long time lurker, but decided to enter the fray. Good to see Joe get Jorgie some more at bats against a righties. Argubly our best hitter last post season, so keep him fresh and ready to dong the opposition to death in October.
  4. That got me thinking. Who has come to play this year? I can only come up with a few. Theriot, Lilly, Lee, Guzman, Fuld, Fukudome, and Wells. Guys who have mailed it in? BRADLEY! SORIANO!, SOTO!, are the three worst offenders. You can include Dempster, Gregg, Heilman, Miles, Hoffpauir, Samardzija, and Fontenot. Marginal guys... Marmol, Marshall, Harden, Ramirez, Zambrano, Hill So if they did well this year, they came to play...if they did bad they mailed it in, and if they were mediocre or had a lot of injuries, they are considered marginal? How else would you classify it?

  6. And after that Alou's wife gives Bartman a lap dance as the credits roll...
  7. I was thinking the same thing. I think Saturday's game got into his head a bit and carried over to Sunday. Come to think of it, everytime the Cubs play the Marlins, weird things seem to happen. Lou might have been prudent to put Marmol out there yesterday, but then that would have started a controversy, so I understand where his thinking was. Oh well, terrible loss, but Gregg has been better overall than I thought he would be going into the year. The only other option I see is Marmol, but with his command issues at times, we would be right back to square one. Lou should never pitch Gregg against the Marlins ever again.
  8. I can't see the game. Anyone know who is warming up for the bottom half?
  9. 23 pitches in the 1st for Harden. Not good, but better than giving up any runs. Hopefully he can cut that down and go 5 or 6 tonight.
  10. Still a 10 pitch at bat by Fukie. Now that ladies and gentlemen is how you bat lead off.
  11. Ok boys just pretend you are still at Wrigley. ;)
  12. Wells or Marmol for emergency catcherl? Hmm... Personally, if it got to that point I would hope Lou would just look down the bench and find the least important player still availible rather than risk injury to Wells or Marmol. Or call Bob down from the booth.
  13. I heard Jose Hernandez is our emergency catcher Seriously though, who is the emergency catcher? I remember hearing it was Theriot at one point. Not that it matters but just curious.
  14. This list has got to be BS. Every revelant Cub player since the mid 90's is on the list. A Cub hater wrote this drivel for sure. Feel free to LOCK up this thread at any time Admin...
  15. The good news is training camp starts July 31st...
  16. Form of a whiffle ball bat... Form of a 6 year old Little Leaguer! Ok, that's better...Form of a 6 year old little leaguer...Shape of a whiffle ball bat...I like it.
  17. Ok funny guy. You turned my little mini-rant about how the players are acting, when all I was asking for them is to act like the give a crap. Their body language is terrible, and yes, I do expect a little more energy from somebody making 13 million. Call me crazy. Quit being a jack ass.
  18. As opposed to the teams that look pumped and excited during a losing streak? As opposed to guys who aren't making millions of dollars to play a game...thanks for playing though.
  19. I'm usually the biggest defender of Cub's players, but they look like they have given up to me. No energy, no hustle, just up there hacking away with no kind of clue what they are doing. This week reminds me of the Dodger's playoff series last year, decent enough pitching with no offense and shoddy defense. It has officially become a chore to watch this team. Pathetic. The good news is Bear's Training Camp is just around the corner. Bear Down!!!
  20. Anyone know if Wells is going to start on Friday in place of Big Z? I haven't heard the confirmation.
  21. That was the best looking strike out I've seen in a long time. Hoffpauir was fighting hard against the lefty.
  22. This is too frustrating to watch. This latest string of games remind me of last year's playoffs. Maybe the Cubs will still come back, but I won't be watching so...
  23. I'm glad he's such a man of his principles, but he's only giving up about $62,000 if he drops his suspension (probably about $40K after taxes). If you make 100K, it would be paying a $617 fine. Whoopity doo. Bite your tongue. Where I come from that's 61 lap dances.
  24. Milton is a proven professional hitter who is off to a slow start...Enough said.
