  1. The way he made that turn at 3rd, he was ready to head home. He was going full boar.
  2. Awesome job Jon. Now let the bullpen finish it for you. Edit: Rondon is up and warming. :clapping:
  3. Wouldn't mind seeing Rondon in the 9th. See if he looks as good as he did against the Astros the other day.
  4. Zobrist was hit by the pitch. I assume it stung for a minute. DIdn't delay long. MLB At Bat's vague injury delay can be disconcerting. The pitch hit him on the top of his left foot. Looked like it hit his toe pretty good, but he seems ok.
  5. I mean, Hendricks pitched well two days ago. He did? Must have missed that... :D Hendricks is pulling an "Arrieta" second half for sure, but Lester is the seasoned vet you want with the season on the line in a game 5 situation.
  6. Is anyone still doubting Lester should start game 1? I think the discussion is over.
  7. I'm flying in from Tempe, AZ tomorrow morning and headed to the Thurs.night game and the games all weekend. I picked this weekend back in April based more on the Bears game on Monday because I wanted a weekend when both the Cubs and Bears were in town. Got lucky it seems.
  8. Marinez is so mentally weak. Good pitcher, great upside, but he has a little Zambrano in him.
  9. All better now? Sorry, I wasn't very clear. When Ross threw out Diaz trying to steal, I was saying to Diaz to grab some pine. Diaz has a face only a mother could love. One more reason Addi is superior.
  10. Damn. Bryant just missed that one. Got under it a little bit too much.
  11. Like I said. Ross is a handsome man.
  12. I didn't know what was going on in the game and was confused why you were calling Ross a rodent. Diaz. Ross is quite a handsome man.
  13. Nice one Ross. Grab some pine you rodent.
  14. Season hasn't started yet Amen Ryan. Amen.
  15. Gonna be at Wrigley Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Hate to see them lose any to the Cardinals so I can selfishly see a home clincher, but it won't hurt my feelings to see Hammel become the sacrificial lamb on Tuesday. Hendricks and Lester I want god-mode and keep it rolling.
  16. On a good note, the bullpen has been lights out the last few weeks. I believe the Cubs lead the majors in relief ERA since the AS break. Very encouraging in that regard. The offense has been a little sluggish recently, but we know what they are capable of once they get it going.
  17. Lost in all that is Jon Lester last night was Hector looked really freakin' good, I'd hazard to say the best he's looked all year for what an inning of work is worth. Hopefully Pedro can get back soon and pick up where he left off too. Getting Pedro, Hector, and Aroldis pitching lights out come post season and owning the 7th, 8th, and 9th will go a long way to ending this whatever you want to call it...
  18. contreras and ross would be a good name for a pizza joint Or a jazz combo.
  19. Sorry to change the subject back to baseball, but put Contreras in the line up instead of Ross and that would be the maximum damage line up if the Cubs are lucky enough to make it to the WS.
  20. Not to second guess Joe, but it's about time he rested Bryant. I wouldn't mind seeing him out of the line up tomorrow as well, then the off day on Thursday, that would give him a nice 3 day rest.
  21. We all knew the Cubs were struggling going into the break, but we also knew the Cubs had a favorable schedule coming out of the break with a nice homestand and short trips to the south side and Milwaukee. But 20 games over post-break entering September? That's what I call takin' care of business! Len always mentions the most pivotal game of the year thus far was the win in Pittsburgh right before the break. It didn't seem like a huge win at the time, although it halted a 5 game losing streak, somehow it righted the ship heading into the second half. I tend to agree with Len on this one.
  22. I had Rizzo at 14 to 1 to win the MVP before the season started, only 20 bucks at the Golden Nugget, but if Bryant wins it's a nice consolation prize. Bryant was 10 to 1 at the time I made my bet, guess I should have taken him too obviously. I remember being surprized that Bryant was favored over RIzzo at the time. My 4 to 1 @ $100 for the Cubs to win the penant is still alive and well however, fingers crossed.
