  1. If the package is anything close to that, Jed should be fired on the spot and banned from ever working in another FO Why pay Soto 760M when you can give Tucker 500M, your best hitter who is under control for 3 more seasons, a top 10 3B under control for 3 more seasons and an MLB ready top 50 prospect.
  2. As I said before, if you trade Seiya and Paredes, whatever you gain in RF you're now losing almost all of it at 3B. Let alone throwing a top prospect on top of that for one damn year of Tucker.
  3. They don't need more depth though. They need someone to slot in front of Taillon.
  4. My guess is, if Paredes is gone, he's some insurance incase Shaw flops.
  5. Some pretty severe swing and miss issues, good glove, decent walks, too old for for his 140 wRC+ in AA to mean a lot. If they think they can alleviate some of those swing and miss issues, I don't hate it.
  6. Because the thing I quoted said "and" implying both not Paredes or Seiya
  7. Please for the love of god do not trade Paredes and Seiya for Tucker, that's amazingly counter productive.
  8. Yeah Houston you can get F'd, thanks.
  9. Yeah the Suzuki talk seems to be more like, hey he's available if you blow us away, otherwise he's on this roster opening day.
  10. Jed has been pretty enthralled with Alonso for 2 years now. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he tries to make it happen.
  11. In the modern MLB where 3B is a wasteland and just 6 months ago we were complaining about how bad 3B options were, I'm not looking to move on from a top 10 3B unless I'm getting full value. The Astros getting 3 years of a top 10 3B for 1 year of an admittedly much better player sounds reasonable. I'm not throwing a guy who could be a top 20 prospect in baseball 6 months from now on top of it.
  12. If it's like Cam Smith and Triantos, sure go for it. If it's Cam Smith on top of a guy who has been a top 10 3B over the last 3 years, then yeah no thanks.
  13. I'm almost dreading a Tucker trade if these asks are accurate. He's crazy good, but it's 1 year and then you have to lock him up for 400-500M, assuming he'll even be open to an extension.
  14. They are aware Tucker is only under contract for 1 year, right? Asking for a 3-3.5 fWAR 3B, whom the Cubs have no backup for, and who is under control for 3 more years and a first round pick who has rocketed up prospect boards is a bit absurd.
  15. Someone's going to make him a starter. I don't see a fit here if you're bringing back a starter from Seattle, let alone adding Sasaki.
  16. Not really. He's been remarkably afraid to do anything big.
  17. A lot of ifs, but if the Cubs attain Tucker, while keeping Seiya, and manage to move Cody+ for Castillo, they're 1 back end bp arm away from actually a pretty scary team.
  18. Still find it weird nothing official with Carson Kelly. Is it being held up by a separate move?
  19. Who are these two players who are going to give you a cumulative 180 wRC+, please do share.
  20. Then they failed, very simple. For 1 million more they could have had a guy with a much more reliable history and he didn't even require a 2nd year.
  21. Yeah the guy who drastically overpitched his peripherals when he again could have paid like 1M for David Robertson whose performance was backed by better peripherals
  22. Coming off the only time he has struggled. It's like Jed just can't take talent, he has to find guys who are coming off injury, coming with major question marks, coming off down years. He just refuses to take the talent in front of him.
  23. So here's what I don't get. Why would Jed even make this comment? Now fans hate you more because you didn't even try to get a generational hitter. If you weren't interested in a generational hitter you probably shouldn't be a GM. All I can think is that he's covering for PTR and if he's going to that extent to cover for him, his job is in absolutely no jeopardy.
  24. Who cares? He's a historically great hitter, who at age 26 is extremely likely to be a first ballot HoF player as long as he doesn't start to fall apart physically.
  25. This is going to be another year where they buy a guy with significant questions marks for like 8M when if they had just paid 10 or 11M they could have had Robertson who is solid basically every year isn't it?
