Still a hard no thanks if the asking price is even in the same universe as some of the rumored ones. At some point the results have to actually show up. If the Marlins just want to cash in their chips and Alcantara+ someone in the 11-20 range get it done sure, but I have less than zero interest in movie the top guys let alone multiple top guys.

I didn't care about losing Paredes or Wesneski but man was I bummed when the prospect was Cam. He was one of very few, if any, Cub prospects who had franchise player upside. I remember really hoping it was like Alcantara/Caissie. Man is that deal probably going to look bad if they can't keep Tucker around.

I'll believe it when I see it from the franchise that is #3 in revenue but has had 20 teams give a larger contract than any Cub has ever signed. They were 2 million away from being 22nd including such high spending teams as the Rays, Brewers, Royals, Twins, Marlins, Reds and Rockies. edit: It's laughably pathetic that the White Sox have never given out a contract above 75M. That's the 2nd lowest in baseball behind only Oakland(67M).

I'm happy to see him finally utilizing more of that raw power, but I'm still going to refrain from getting too hyped up until I start seeing that K% approaching 25. Not very many bats can succeed at 30% k rate. Right now the the closest players you're going to find are Riley Greene, Kyle Stowers and Eugenio Suarez. -
There's not even bias involved in something that absurdly ridiculous. That's straight up something a homer on an espn message board 10 years ago would have posted.

I'd deal Caissie for Cabrera, just not Wiggins. They only have Taillon for one more year and there's a good deal of uncertainty surrounding Steele. I feel confident Horton will iron things, but he's not quite there yet too. Also, the thought of a Steele/Shota/Cabrera/Horton/WIggins rotation makes me feel immoral things.

It's not even about AAA, I just want a low pressure situation where he can really engrain the changes made. Maybe I'm wrong, but that has got to be so much harder in the majors with the pressure and the media, etc.

If the Cubs weren't so desperate for help at 3B, I firmly believe Shaw should be in the minors working out the kinks on all of these changes and get some muscle memory on them before he has to do it in the middle of a playoff race, but that's not going to happen so the ASB is probably the best chance he's going to get.

Fair enough, but there hasn't been a player reasonably mentioned to the Cubs yet that I'd part with Wiggins for. There's definitely guys out there, but none of the ones with any type of legitimate rumors attached to them.

True enough, but did anyone reasonably think he'd have a unicorn skill set? The guys I consider the boring ones were guys like Schnauel in 2023 who has admittedly been ok so far. Then in 2022 it was a guy like Jacob Berry who turned out not to be so safe after all. -
Why Ford? Yeah he's a really good prospect, but the Cubs have Kelly signed through '26 with a mutual option for '27 but mutual options are never picked up. They also have Amaya who seems like a legitimate above average starter behind the plate. Also insert generic comment about 3 team trade.

Looking back at 2023 and man that has the potential to be a really good draft. Although the bat is currently struggling, Shaw looks very promising. Wiggins is Chicago's top pitching prospect and might sneak into some top 50s. Jonathan Long has looked like he might be a legitimate first division starter. Zyhir hope is killing it for the Dodgers and Ty Johnson is rocketing up boards in Tampa. That's even ignoring lesser heralded guys like Will Sanders who likely see the majors in the near future. -
Really surprised there hasn't been a single move yet across the league that wasn't basically waiver wire fodder for organizational depth. I know we still have 23 days until the deadline, but I still can't believe not even a mid tier trade has happened yet.

First off, is that gun hot or is Wicks hitting 96 now? Also, outside of the first couple hitters he faced, he looked really good.

Wicks doing a lot of pitching up in the zone, don't think that's a recipe for success with him

Been there for weeks now. The supposed price tag is absurd for what is basically a reclamation project and the Cubs can't afford to do a reclamation project while they're chasing a division title.

Yes, but he didn't start like that with the Cubs. Even Busch can become even passable against lefties he's a super exciting player to have.

They're going to have to trade for a starting pitcher sooner rather than later. Waiting until the deadline is going to be folly unless no one out there is willing to go early.

One guy was having a 99 wRC+ season before being traded and was a season and a half off a 125 wRC+, Hayes is sitting at a 68 wRC+, had a 59 wRC+ in 2024, and had 86 and 85 wRC+s in 2 of the 3 seasons before that.
