  1. Brewers don't have to make deals since they apparently acquired Miguel Cabrera in his prime for a guy who got dropped from their rotation.
  2. it's O'hearn and Laureano, that's going to bring back a good prospect.
  3. Like there is legit no reason not to land Castro outside of the scouts just really hating something about his game.
  4. Edward Cabrera and frankly I'm getting pretty close to putting Sandy Alcantara back on that list.
  5. See, I kind of find it exciting if Kelly, Cease, Gallen, etc. are off the board because that means Jed has a big fish and it's close enough to done that he sat out the rentals.
  6. Not sure I'd classify Mullins as going for it. Hot start to 2025 but been bad for a while now.
  7. I think this is exactly it. They're trying to get the Marlins, Nationals or Twins to blink and if they don't, the Cubs pivot to a rental. There's a still a ton of big rental names out there.
  8. Technically yes, but this is nothing like reddit, twitter, Facebook, etc. where people who know nothing of baseball let alone trade values come in here and spout hot takes. There's still plenty of hot takes here, but usually with a little something to back it up.
  9. If they see Flores as a legit MLB catcher, he's kind of a good get. The bat is quite exciting by catcher standards and that would make him quite valuable. If he's 1B or DH then yeah, this is very underwhelming.
  10. They must feel very confident in Flores sticking behind the plate
  11. No way in hell I could do sports on social media. The average fan is a moron and even those on mlbtraderumors are awful. I don't have time for a million hot takes that will ignore statistical evidence that they're wrong.
  12. @chibears55 has the shinning, I knew it.
  13. I'd be quite surprised with another pen arm. I think a SP is just about guaranteed and I'd put a bat that hit lefties at like an 80% likelihood.
  14. 6 eastern, but announcements still come out for like another 20 minutes for deals that were completed right before the deadline.
  15. I was actively pushing for him too. I am now off that ship.
  16. Guy has tons of power, but he also is over 31k% this year. I mean honestly right now I think of him as a Joey Gallo clone.
  17. I think that would signal very negative things regarding retaining any of our current Cubs anywhere near FA.
  18. I'll read the tea leaves here and say, if Kittredge is the best they get because Hoyer is desperately prospect hugging then you can kiss any realistic chances of retaining Tucker goodbye. There's no reason to hang onto all of Long/Alcantara/Caissie/Ballesteros if CF, 1B and RF are blocked for the better part of a decade. Each one of those guys would be blocked next year and for some of them even longer.
  19. They don't need to do a big thing. Go get Kelly and Castro, boom done and a deadline I'm very happy with.
  20. I mean they can trade Horton, but I don't want much going back with him. I surely don't want Horton+Caissie+ another notable prospect.
  21. Tigers grab Kyle Finnegan, he was mentioned with the Cubs a few times.
  22. I'm not trading Horton and the reason for that is simple. Look at his numbers even with this weird inability to get guys to swing and miss with 2 strikes when it's not an issue getting swing and miss for strike 1 or strike 2. Once he gets that ironed out, I think he's going to be real good.
  23. Well yeah, I'd put every cent I own on Shaw never touching 40HRs and a huge amount on never touching .900 OPS too, but he doesn't have to. He's vastly better defensively. He's vastly better on the bases. All Shaw has to do is be like a 115-120 wRC+ guy and he matches Suarez's career year. even as a league average bat he's probably a 3 fWAR player.
