I'm still legit blown away, like I just don't have words for it. How do you not address your biggest weakness and it's your biggest weakness by a ton.

I really wonder if acquiring Rogers was a last second pivot because they now need to throw Soroka back into the rotation rather than the bp. What an absolute piss down your leg moment if this is how it ends up.

Well I kind of hate that for a reliever they didn't even need.

There has got to be a SP, I simply refuse to believe Jed finds this rotation acceptable for a team with world series aspirations.

Yup that's a bit of an ouch. I liked Gallagher a good bit, but it's still reasonable to me in this market.

Damn the cost on Kelly was kind of the Cub equivalent of Gallagher+Birdsell, maybe even a touch more.

Solid against righties, mashes lefties, lots of positional versatility. Exactly what we needed in a bat. I wanted him over Suarez.

Then he's not near the acceptable GM some people in here like to consider him. Shota, Boyd(on way more inning than he's thrown at that point), Taillon is not an acceptable playoff rotation.

There really are still a lot of good names out there that I can't imagine aren't being dealt.

That's fine, then pivot to Kelly and Castro and be done with it.

I'm saying that while it's still possible he walks away with the middle ground, which would be like Kelly+Castro, I think something like that is increasingly unlikely and it's turned toward hitting a homerun on the major targets or pivoted to guys most of us are going to see as very minimal upgrades if at all. I might be wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting from how things are going.

This is basically where I'm at. Either we're all going to be going crazy for happy reasons in about an hour or we're going to be crazy for very unhappy reasons in an hour, I think the middle ground is probably gone.
