  1. Hot take, what about Luis Robert as a lefty masher off the bench? He's completely and totally useless against righties, but he still hard mashes lefties to a 144 wRC+ this year. He does nothing to address 3B, but he'd address 2 of the benches biggest weaknesses(LHP/power). That he should cost just about nothing and could be dumped after the season is pretty enticing.
  2. There is no recent world in which a rental hitter has cost a top 50 prospect, let alone a top 50, with helium and they're MLB ready.
  3. This would be the limit of where I'd go. If he'll basically waive that 2027 mutual option and make it a guaranteed 20M, then it's a worthwhile risk. If he's looking for more then one year and I'm absolutely out.
  4. My guess would be no. He's 34 and they already have him under contract next year.
  5. Basically this. He should have earned everyone's trust at this point. edit: To be fair, I don't see it at all with Kepley either, but he's had multiple picks that I didn't see it working and yet they did.
  6. Griffin Jax is pretty insane. I wouldn't at all surprised if the ask for him alone was something like 1 of Caissie/Ballesteros/Wiggins/Rojas. 14.17K/9 with a 2.18 BB/9 is just absurd levels of good and he'd be a Cub for the next two years as well. There's also a number of people out there who feel he's a guy who could be converted to a starter.
  7. 2 weeks left until the deadline; don't drag this out Jed.
  8. I'm where I was a few weeks ago. An at least mid rotation starter who you can actually have make a playoff start is a must. Behind that I have a 3B bat, not necessarily a full time 3B but a bat who can play 3B if need be. 3rd on the list I'm split between a nice solid back of the rotation inning eating SP like Charlie Morton or a true closer/elite set up man. I'm not entirely convinced the pen is a major need, especially with Horton and Brown probably headed there in the not to distant future, but if you can get a really elite arm then by all means. At this point with Ryan seemingly off the table and Cabrera being hurt, I'd be all in on either Kelly or Lugo. Snag Charlie Morton and Willi Castro and call it a deadline.
  9. Man the 11th round and after used to be more exciting than this, we're getting like what maybe 2 players in the top 250 taken per round at this point? This is incredibly boring.
  10. I'm hoping I come around on that pick like I did a few of the ones I didn't like last year, but it's real hard for me to come to terms with using your full 2nd round slot on a guy who maybe is a 4th OFer.
  11. I have him 6th behind Ballesteros, Rojas, Caissie, Wiggins and Alcantara.
  12. We're at the point where there had better be a major overslot coming up here, because neither of the two first draftees should be seeing slot.
  13. I could be convinced on Conrad pretty easily, but I just don't see it on Kepley. Excellent defense but a poor arm, excellent speed but little to no power. I mean this is like a Nick Madrigal type ceiling unless there's something that's missing.
  14. This is why I was in on Gage Wood. There's tons of reliever risk sure, but he might end up being the best pitcher in the class if he stays healthy.
  15. I'm not even sure there's much if any savings here so I don't really get it. Like he's not bad but he's very bland unless he can stick in CF.
  16. Ike Irish sliding a bit. I'm not super infatuated with him, but he's probably the biggest surprise to be there at 17 if he's still around.
