  1. He has always been by far the highest on Alcantara and by far the lowest on Caissie.
  2. Alcantara is a good trade target in the offseason just like Taj Bradley. You do not have time to rework them while in the middle of a tight pennant race and attempting to do so is self sabotage.
  3. This Shemar Stewart saga is fascinating. Usually I'd say it's just posturing between both sides, but I think there's a genuine chance he applies with the NCAA to be able to return to school and if not that, forces a trade before he even steps on the practice field.
  4. Pirates lost almost 2M in draft capital, big ouch.
  5. Castillo getting absolutely torched, because sure why not. Not one person in the Brewer line up that has more than like 30 PAS and an .800 OPS, but by all means put up more runs.
  6. Even with Taillon back, that only gives them 3 starters without a trade. You can't expect Horton to keep making starts into September. 2024 Assad isn't much better than Rea so not sure that matters much.
  7. I mean, he kind of has to unless the Cubs pick up 2 starters. Your other options are Brown and Wicks.
  8. Kind of proof that Lugo is good, no? As soon as he leaves the game the HRs start happening.
  9. Well if nothing else we can get people to stop pretending that Lugo is bad now and wouldn't be a great option for the Cub rotation.
  10. This is what annoys me. The Royals offense is absolutely pathetic and Cub pitching is getting destroyed in 2 out of 3 games. Before this series started the Royals, as a team, had 77 HRs, 2nd to last in baseball. So far in this series they have 8 against the cubs bringing them up to 85 HRs. They're 1 HR away from more than 10% of their season HRs being against the Cubs. I can't even explain how awful that is.
  11. Seriously, a 2026 rotation of Steele, Shota, Boyd, Ryan/Gore, Taillon or even Horton if Taillon was traded would be stacked 1-5.
  12. 100% in agreement with this. They have been the two obvious big fish from the beginning. It's going to cost a lot but they're both under control through 2027 and both teams will likely be losing them before they're ready to compete again.
  13. 8 days until the trade deadline and the biggest name dealt so far has been Bryan Baker. That really just seems crazy to me and frankly it's really boring, but I have no idea how to fix it. If you push back the deadline a couple weeks you only get rentals for 6 weeks which seems like nothing. You move up the deadline then you have even more undecided teams and perhaps even less happening with trades. They're never going to get rid of the 100 WC slots now, so maybe this is just how it works now with the trade deadline being like NFL FA where all the action is in a 48 hour period. It just kind of ruins what was one of the most fun times of the year.
  14. Who hates Rea? He's a sufficient #5 who has had been forced to pitch at a level much higher than that. He shouldn't start a playoff game, but besides that he's been considerably better than expected.
  15. The problem is, thanks to Steele and Taillon being hurt, the rotation drops off a cliff after Shota and Boyd. Rea has been holding it together but the other 40% of the rotation is a dice roll at best.
  16. Going into tonight they were 2nd to last only ahead of Pittsburgh by 7 runs.
  17. Brown's peripherals are....... 10.26 K/9= That's good 2.92 BB/9= a bit high but pretty good 3.66 xFIP= that's solid to good 4.27 FIP= it's not awful 63.1% LOB= well that's 7-10% below where most pitcher sit 15.5 HR/FB%= That's quite high .363 babip= god damn that's high Hard hit%= 48.1% before tonight, god damn He's just giving up tons and tons of hard hit balls so you can't even call the babip or hr/fb% a fluke.
  18. Second fewest runs in MLB going into tonight, but have now put up a season high 12 runs on the Cubs.
  19. Not sure I'd agree. I think they're able to squeeze extra juice out of a lot of guys. The problem is that they're bringing in a lot of guys who aren't all that talented so getting extra out of them makes them serviceable rather than good.
  20. Brown had better not make another start this season and Jed had better be on the phones tonight finding a starter. I still think Brown can be a thing but the Cubs can't afford to deal with him right now.
  21. Kepley at #9, tf? Either BA thinks way way more about Kepley than I do, or they really dislike the Cub farm.
  22. A move I wish the Cubs had made.
  23. Suarez has hit 4 HRs in the last 1.5 games against the Cardinals, he's sitting at 35 now.
  24. With Jed it's almost always, whatever tier you're expecting, you need to realistically go down at least one tier and that's where Jed is shopping. Don't get me wrong, it's worked on a few occasions now especially with Shota and Boyd, but he almost never shops at the top of the market.
  25. I'm gonna keep doing it, It's absurd they've now held the Dodgers to 4 runs over 39 innings.
