This is exactly why Nagy should be gone today. He saw his Oline getting torched and did absolutely nothing to help them. If I wasn't so sure he was merely incompetent, I would think it was an intentional sabotage job.

I know Fields was not good, that's pretty much undeniable, but as a coach Nagy is supposed to give him the greatest chance to succeed and that is where he completely failed. He didn't play to his strengths by getting him out of the pocket, running rpos, running play actions. He didn't bring in extra blockers or have his RB help chip for an oline that was severely out talented. He didn't continue to try and run the ball to take the heat off Fields. Instead of putting him in a place to succeed, he made Justin's job as hard as he possibly could have and it resulted in the dumpster fire we saw yesterday.

All of my interest in Chicago sports pretty much relies on the Bulls at this point.

That play on 3rd and 2 was absolutely awful.

#7 is looking like the most likely scenario at this point. That 8 game win streak is going to loom pretty large unless the Cubs somehow sneak into #5.

was gonna say i'd be hoping for better than that, but then i looked him up and see that he had nearly 50 WAR in his career, so yeah i'd take that no problem. My thought was Curtis Granderson. -
I'm expecting this one to be realistically over early in the 3rd quarter. I'll be watching to see if Fields shows any flashes, assuming Dalton isn't going.

That 3rd down to Mooney was his first bad throw. His offense isn't helping him at all.

I don't get running a super fast QB up the gut on 4th and 1. Let him use his assets.

Among players with at least 100 PAs, Schwindel's 169 wRC+ puts him 4th in baseball behind only Trout, Harper and Vlad.

Huge fan of Triantos. My favorite prospects are the guys with the plus to plus plus hit tools like Corbin Carroll. The fact that he's already flashing this kind of pop is really exciting. -
The plan continues to be, tank the season and then give Fields the Job instead of giving Fields a chance to actually do something with this season. I'd expect nothing less from Nagy.

Yeah. The idiot, sanctimonious pricks who run it ruined keeping it purely stats/performances a long time ago. Treat it as a museum/narrative/history of the game thing at this point, it being some benchmark of career performance has long passed. The moment the HoF committee decided to wait until Santo died before voting him in, was when it became was entirely dead to me. It was nothing more than proof that they continually denied him, while he was alive, out of nothing but vengeful spite. It absolutely crushes me that Santo never got to receive that call when he was still around, especially when it obviously meant so much to him.

Fangraphs thinks 2022 is going to be another lost year for the Cubs. I expect a couple middling FAs and severe regression for Wisdom, Schwindel and Ortega. My guess is 70ish wins.
