    Regardless if by some miracle the Cubs win today and tomorrow, there is no way you convince me to invest resources into this team at the deadline.

    The good old Starlin Castro and Jason Heyward treatment. Take two good hitters and completely destroy their mechanics.

    Cubs have the 9th highest team K% at 24%. They're 20th in HR(98) and 22nd in SLG at .390.

    How can a team with so little power strike out so often? Even Nico is striking out at a 14% clip over the last month.

    The Cardinals just gave 6.3M to their #21 pick Chase Davis. That's a 2.7M overslot and basically equivalent to the slot allotment for the #7 pick. I didn't see anyone who expected anything near this. Mlbtraderumors.com has now deleted the amounts, but the original tweet is still around

    I don't think there is a realistic trade with the Twins where I wouldn't be very disappointed for a guy who is likely the most valuable position player available at the deadline.

    My initial reaction to Horton was so incredibly wrong. Kudos to the front office on that.

    Yeah, I was talking about Sanders who has a very straight hittable fastball. I have about 100 times more faith in them getting to add some movement to that fastball than I do for them to reign in the control of Wiggins.

    I go with this as well. His biggest weakness is a strength for the Cub's pitch lab/development team. I fully expect him to become a guy in 2024. Wiggins, on the other hand, I get that he has the biggest upside of the pitchers that were drafted, but thus far his weakness is not one the Cubs have been very good at developing so I don't have particularly high hopes there.

    Ah, Kinsler is one I hadn't heard that I rather like. I expect a bit more BB% and K%, but it's quite close to what I feel his upside may be.

    If they're selling, and I'm still firmly in that camp, Mervis, Madrigal and Amaya need all the at bats they can get. Wisdom needs to be fired into the sun. Morel needs to be given reps at a few positions until he finds a defensive home. I'd also like to see Brown get a taste of the big leagues out of the pen. Thought not as important as the others, I wouldn't mind seeing Perlaza get some at bats

    I honestly haven't come up with a good comp yet. Uggla had far more power than I expect from Shaw but also likely had a considerably worse hit tool. I thought about Pedroia but Pedroia is likely a significantly better defender and, though I expect Shaw to have a higher BB%, he'll also probably have near double Pedroia's K%. Michael Young had a better hit tool, but I expect Shaw to have more pop and be a bigger threat on the bases. I come back to a guy like Rickie Weeks, but with less swing and miss and better defense. A guy who could possibly give you 20/20 in his best years and you're maybe looking at .270/.280 batting average and .350 obp. A guy, like you said, in the 3-4 WAR range most years with peak years a bit higher if things go right.

    Nationals a big market team, meanwhile in St. Louis they get a free annual pick and they have Goldschmidt, Arenado and Contreras under contract while they talk about bringing in a front of the rotation starter in the offseason. I truly hate competitive balance picks.

    Wrigley is pretty much perfect for the homerun derby. The stadium would be full, the streets outside the bleachers would be littered with people, the rooftops would be full. It would be absolutely electric.

    I mean I kind of get it before the renovation, but since the stadium and the entire neighborhood were renovated, there's no excuse left not to have an ASG at Wrigley.

    Did missing those 2 starts cost Steele an ASG start? His ERA is nearly half a run lower than Gallen.

    Gasparino is still there for the taking, but I don't think they money is there anymore.

    I'm actually kind of liking this draft. They went pretty safe on the 1st round pick, but they've chased upside on the rest of them.

    I know absolutely nothing other than he was #318 on prospects live list.
