  1. If they manage to lose today and tomorrow, the Cubs are responsible for 15% of the Nats wins this year.
  2. I went to feed my dog in a commercial with the Cubs about to come up and I come back and it's in commercial again. Did I miss like a 90 second half inning?
  3. By all means, please keep giving Mancini as many at bats as possible.
  4. I'm getting real close to saying just burn it down entirely. Deal Steele, Stroman, Bellinger, etc. Clean the FO and start things fresh.
  5. It's going to take a miracle for this to be a competitive team in 2024
  6. 4k through 2 innings for Corbin. This team absolutely sucks.
  7. Well this was over nice and quick. Taillon needs to hit the 60 day IL and try to come back in 2024 being slightly less terrible.
  8. Pitcher with one of the worst K rates in baseball strikes out 2 in the first
  9. Taillon managed to get through 1 whole batter before putting the Cubs behind
  10. I'm going to set the over/under at 3 runs scored by the Cubs tonight
  11. While Swanson has been the best of the big 4 this year, he was definitely viewed as the worst of them in free agency. So the point remains, they haven't gone after the top guys at their respective positions. Grabbing Taillon instead of Kodai Senga was a huge difference maker this season. If Senga is on this team, the Cubs likely aren't selling right now.
  12. Adding one of those pitchers and Bellinger/Candelario/Capman just gets us right back to where we are now and likely worse because it's unlikely any of those 4 pitchers match what Stroman has done so far. I'm not even going to consider Ohtani an option as Jed has shown that he isn't willing to swim in the deep end of the FA pool. He's more content going after the guys in the 2nd tier.
  13. It's not that they're mediocre, I myself had them ad a a 77-78 win squad before the season so, it's that it's very hard to see this team as considerably better in the future. They're going to lose both Bellinger and Stroman, so 2 of their 3 most valuable players, and will have to fill 2 rotation spots assuming they don't pick up Hendrick's option. 3B is a black hole, 1B is a black hole, the DH is a black hole, the corner OF spots are average at best. How can they possibly address all of this next offseason? Realistically at this time you're going into 2024 with this roster C- Amaya/Barnhart 1b- Mervis/Mancini 2b- Nico/Morel SS- Dansby/Nico 3B- Wisdom/Morel/Madrigal LF- Happ CF- Tauchmann RF- Seiya DH- Wisdom/Mancini/Morel SP: Steele/Smyly/Taillon and maybe Hendricks How do you fix this?
  14. I've thought this a few times, but Jed really needs to come out and say that it is and actually was a rebuild. If he's going to stick to that he truly thought this was a competitive team then he has proven himself to be entirely to incompetent to remain with the organization.
  15. Magnetic draw? I haven't stepped into Wrigley in almost 5 years at this point. Why would I give those ghouls my money for a piss poor on field product?
  16. Didn't notice Nico with his third game in a row with 2 strikeouts. It's like Javy with 1/10 the power.
  17. Getting torched by the Nationals, this is quite the club Jed has put together
  18. Stroman shouldn't make another start for this team.
  19. I know we're busy hating Madrigal, but in the time since his return from AAA he put up a .328/.409/.466 SLG good for a 144 wRC+. Obviously I do not expect him to suddenly be a slugger, but it's very possible he figured something out. The quality of contact certainly improved. Before he was sent to AAA 23.8 SOFT%, 56.0 MED%, 20.2 HARD%, 18.1 LD%, 66.3 GB%, 15.7 FB%, 85.3 EV After return from AAA 11.1 SOFT%, 66.7 MED%, 22.2 HARD%, 17.6 LD%, 51 GB%, 31.4 FB%, 87.6 EV
  20. Passivity is the biggest thing I see. He almost never goes after the first pitch and, though I don't have the numbers in front of me to support it, he seems to take an abnormal amount of called strike 3s. He feels like he's almost always working from behind in the count.
  21. I may be wrong, but I thought I had read that Stroman can't be given a qualifying offer because he has a player option. I know you can make a qualifying offer if it's a declined team option.
  22. The Astros are certainly not the team to employ this strategy with, but if we're talking the like the Orioles and the Cubs have to throw in like Nelson Velazquez to bump up the package to include Coby Mayo, then yeah go for it.
  23. They need to do a lot of consolidating since the overwhelming strength of the farm is the depth and that is going to bring a lot of 40 man issues over the next few years
