  1. Watch the Cobs get no hit to put a cherry on this dumpster fire of a season
  2. Checking the box score from work and it appears it's the Brewers vs the Bellinger and some other guys.
  3. I am almost never ok with taking a 1B in the 1st unless he absolutely rakes and even then it doesn't usually turn out very well. I'd be pretty intensely disappointed by this.
  4. I still hate that Mervis was sent down with all the underlying stats trending in the right direction even if the results weren't there yet.
  5. I don't know that I've ever seen this and perhaps it's a one season statistical anomaly, but Jordan Walker is putting up a .287/.350/.439 line at the moment good for a 120 wRC+ and yet the defensive value is so terrible he's still at a -.4 fWAR through 180 PA, so roughly on pace for -1.2 fWAR over a 162 game span. That puts him right around as valuable as Trey Mancini on a game per game basis based solely on fWAR.
  6. I'd like to go with Stroman to Baltimore. The dream of getting Westburg is probably dead now that he's in the majors, but there's other nice options. If they're looking for the best prospect they can get regardless of proximity to the majors that is probably Samuel Basallo who is putting up a .294/.365/.486 line in A ball as an 18 year old. He's 1B/C right now, but probably more likely 1B in the future. If you're looking a bit closer to the majors then Heston Kjersted is probably the guy. He's a former 1st round pick putting up a .291/.386/.558 line in AAA, and before that a .310/.383/.576 line in AA.
  7. Since they have apparently no interest in extending Stroman, he needs to be gone and should fetch a pretty good return, maybe a back end of the top 100 guy. Bellinger, Merryweather and Hendricks probably wont bring a particularly interesting piece individually, but packaged, they might bring a nice piece or two to slot into the top 15 of the farm.
  8. Nearly half a foot outside, but called strike 3. Inept umpires as usual.
  9. Unfortunately true. Jed has done about as terrible a job as possible spending and I see no reason he should be part of the organization next year
  10. If they lose today, they're 8.5 games out of the division and 8 out of the wildcard , doing anything but selling should be a fireable offense.
  11. They're sellers, I don't care that the division sucks. This is a terrible team that actively finds ways to lose.
  12. Apparently we're going to see 30 Strikeouts between these two teams
  13. So after the draft night trade, the Bulls will not have another 2nd round pick until 2028. That absolutely blows my mind.
  14. Cubs since the Mancini error are 0-3 and have been outscored 20-7.
  15. 1.5 years of a 1B for PCA, absolutely not. If we're talking 1.5 years of a 28 year old Paul Goldschmidt maybe, but Alonso, no thanks. I'm not even putting Horton out there. I could probably be convinced to include Brown, but I wouldn't feel good about it.
  16. DRose is 100% happening. It's the exact same thing the Cubs did when they brought Arrieta back. Milk all that nostalgic good will, while providing an inferior on court product.
  17. So more of the same thing that doesn't work, cool.
  18. I hate Ricketts with every fiber of my being if the day FA opens he's not throwing like 8/400 at Shohei. He fills the need for an impact bat and for a top of the rotation pitcher. Filling those roles for 25M each is a damn steal.
  19. Based on hype alone I'd say it would be slightly disappointing. Not that it's reasonable to expect him to be Gretzky, Crosby etc., but the way he's talked up is that he's a tier above Kane as far as a prospect goes.
  20. They need to send him to the IL with a phantom injury because he isn't even giving them a chance
  21. Can we please please fire Mancini into the sun? It doesn't have to be Mervis replacing him if you're going for it this year, but please someone. You can't keep giving a 1B/DH at bats when they're putting up an 87 wRC+ with horrifically bad defense. He completely tanked that game yesterday and hopefully he didn't completely tank the momentum over the last dozen or so.
  22. Mancini gave life to a dead team and this is the result.
  23. His last game at 1B he did the same damn thing. Stop letting him play the field.
