  1. The problem is that he's not very good. 2022 was a complete mirage thanks to a 91.9 LOB%. 2023 was very mediocre, 2021 was solid and 2020 was a disaster.
  2. Probably more speculation than any thing based on any evidence, but I've seen the mention of the Bears targeting Chase Young several times recently. He finally stayed healthy this year, playing in 16 games, he had 7.5 sacks between Washington and SF and while he wouldn't be cheap, he shouldn't require a monster contract and would still be a significant upgrade. With the vast majority of the talent in the 2024 draft coming on the offensive side of the ball, I could get behind a move like this.
  3. What are the realistic impact bat options at this point? Bellinger, JDM and who? Belt is a platoon guy and even JDM doesn't really make sense on this roster with Morel as DH>
  4. There's a difference between expecting them to be the best team in the NL and having expectations that they'll try and do more than sneak into the playoffs via one of the worst divisions in baseball.
  5. Some scars, a partially numb toe and some gray hair appearing in the facial fuzz, but nothing besides that. I got about as lucky as is medically possible.
  6. Because if you're going to claim you're competing for a division championship you don't go into the season needing rookies to immediately perform. I also think we saw what Seiya is cumulatively. He's clearly far better than the guy he was the first half, but I really doubt he's the guy he was in the 2nd half. I mean if he's actually the guy who after July 1st put up a .311/.372/.556 line good for a 147 wRC+ then he's an MVP candidate which would be awesome, but unlikely. While it's possible Taillon gets better, it's even more likely that Assad doesn't put up an ERA more than 1.5 runs below his xERA again.
  7. I was busy being dead, relearning to sit up, stand, walk, etc. during the Harper offseason so this one is pretty easily the slowest offseason for me, especially based on expectations going in.
  8. I'm not sure that team is even better than the 2023 Cubs. 2024 Bellinger is likely worse than 2023 Bellinger. There's a pretty significant chance that Imanaga is worse than Stroman. Belt/Busch would be hard pressed not to be an upgrade over the 2023 1B, but does it exceed the previous 2 subtractions? I'm not sure that it does. Side note, I have almost no interest in Neris for the money he is probably going to get. You could probably get Robertson+Brasier for a few extra million a year and be far better off.
  9. I know this, you cannot seriously claim you're trying to compete for a division title when 1/3 of your daily line up consists of PCA, Busch and madrigal. You have 2 guys who have no history of MLB performance and 1 guy who has a history of being, at best, a slightly below average hitter.
  10. I hate to say it, but Jed would have to pull off a minor miracle to get this team up to where it needs to be if he misses on Bellinger at this point.
  11. Not looking good. The margin for error is almost non existent now.
  12. The HoF continues to fail. Helton(54.9 fWAR) and Mauer(53.0) get in, meanwhile Andruw Jones(67.0), Chase Utley(61.6) and Gary Sheffield(62.1) fail to get in. Just another of many reasons I have no intention of ever visiting that place.
  13. Not Cub related, but MLB needs to take the Orioles from Angelos. It's an absolute embarrassment that they have a historically strong farm, while having several all-star to MVP quality players who haven't even hit arbitration yet and they just refuse to spend. I feel bad for the fans, when the owner just refuses to put any financial backing into a team that is on the verge of not only being a world series contender, but a favorite with a couple moves.
  14. All I know is that if they trade the #1, it had better be for the '23 haul+at least another 1st and they stay in the top 10.
  15. I absolutely believe that's true, the problem is that he's just maddeningly inconsistent.
  16. I was reading an article that had suggested a Bears/Falcons swap with Fields headed out and Kyle Pitts coming to Chicago. If a third is the only thing on the table for Fields, I think I take that deal. Draft Williams and he has a ton of weapons with Moore, Kmet, Pitts and perhaps Odunze at #9.
  17. Doubling their franchise value every 10 years is apparently not enough.
  18. Where meatheads go to have their nonsensical opinions validated by other meatheads.
  19. I wonder if Kubiak is the guy if SF hadn't won? He seemed like the obvious choice.
  20. We're really going to hit February with half the top 10 fa unsigned aren't we? This offseason is just about guaranteeing a strike before the next CBA.
  21. I don't think Love is by any means bad and is probably still pretty good, but it's not like he's hitting a lot of tight windows on these throws. His WR separation is absolutely crazy. Whatever the scheme is that they're running up there will make a lot of QBs look very good.
  22. It's just laughable how some teams fan bases just have a huge horse shoe up their ass.
  23. SI no longer exists, they fired their entire staff a day or two ago.
  24. If they're chasing a reliever with a bit of control, I want Hunter Harvey. He's under contract for 2 years, posted a 2.52 and 2.82 ERA the last 2 years and had a sub 2 BB/9 last year. Having him and Adbert would alleviate a lot of those BB concerns the pen had in 2022.
