  1. Exactly right about Fox, he's looked solid in the field. I'm actually kind of pissed they didn't put him out there earlier. That would have meant a lot less of Miles/Freel/slumping Fontenot/Scales (even though Scales wasn't that bad). The way some people were talking about Fox's defense, I half expected him to simultaneously crap and piss his pants whenever the ball was hit in his general direction but he's handled everything just fine so far.
  2. He looked like Brooks Robinson the two times I saw him field the position. I'd keep running him out there until he proves he can't do it.
  3. That called shot by Brenly was awesome. the HOFF was all over Okha's weak stuff. And suddenly Kosuke looks like he did early in the season, not bailing out on every swing. Another biscuit for breakfast and he would have had a walkoff homerun yesterday. Keep this guy from bailing out and he's a totally different (read: good) player. Hopefully the coaching staff stays on him about that.
  4. I don't get this, these guys could be speaking in tongues for all I care. I just want them to be good at hitting a little white ball with a big wooden stick.
  5. I almost want him to "get over it" so to say because it pains me to keep reading those comments. I'm not one of the biggest "trading DeRo was the biggest mistake ever" guys, but I am a Mark DeRosa fan, and would have had absolutely no problem being on this team. I think DeRosa will be back some day. Unfortunately it will probably be as a washed up free agent. I love DeRo though and wish he was still on the team. I think Neuby said the other day when I was talking with him after the Sox/Cubs rainout, but it might have been someone else, DeRosa has become our Aaron Rowand. It makes perfect sense. Both were given a ton of credit for the team's success and the success was said to be beyond the box score, and both teams blamed their departures for the team's struggles the following season. Fans of both teams will continue to hold out hope that DeRo/Rowand will be reacquired by the team. The big difference is that the Sox actually got major league talent for trading Rowand (Thome), while the Cubs got some minor league arms. My guess is DeRosa will never be a Cub again. I can't see him fitting into the team's plans again in the future after trading him. Exactly, and that's a big difference, imo. If the Cubs got an awesome return for DeRosa, I'd be ok with it. However, you basically took one of the Cubs most valuable players and, in effect, received nothing in return for him. The White Sox got Jim freaking Thome, a better player. DeRosa played a huge role in last year's success and wasn't replaced, not even close. And it wasn't so we could get Bradley, based on the subsequent moves (Gathright, Miles, Gaudin) we clearly could have afforded both.
  6. I hope Blanco isn't sent down at the expense of Freel. Dude can flash the leather and he isn't completely lost at the plate against big league pitching. I'd also take Scales over Miles or Freel, even before you factor in their respective paychecks.
  7. This is why I generally don't put my stock in the fielding stats, especially for infielders. I'm willing to trust my eyes when it comes to defense and my eyes tell me Lee is an extremely good defender. However, there are few things I like more than pouring over offensive statistics.
  8. Here, the stickied highlights thread and the game thread. Standard procedure. http://home.comcast.net/~bcvm22/cubs/6182009.mp3 Thanks Audio King!
  9. Great pictures! So will the audio be posted in this thread or elsewhere? I went outside for a run when it was 5-1 (I know, bad fan) and missed all the gloriousness of the comeback. I may watch it again tonight.
  10. Do they even try to fix his approach? Is he just afraid of the ball? Why do they let him go up there every day with the same approach and fail?
  11. I agree with all of this, except I'd have Lee ahead of Fox.
  12. I'm trying to not complain so much but I just don't see it out of this year's team. There just seems to be a hangover from last year's dissapointment (and the questionable offseason) and it seems impossible to shake. I'm actually of the feeling that this organization needs a complete overhaul to be successfull. Hopefully I am wrong.
  13. I bet DeRosa, blind-folded, hitting with only his left hand, could out-hit what Bradley and Miles have done so far. :facedesk
  14. Um... change for the sake of change isn't good. Hurdle wasn't a good manager. Neither is Lou.
  15. Boy I really thought kfuk was going to come through there. He'll have a negative batting average by August.
  16. Kosuke Fukudome. Because he has been bad and also because his bad-ness necessitated the Milton Bradley acquisition.
  17. I'm pretty certain Kosuke will never get a hit in the major leagues again. What a joke he is. In fact, this organization is just massive, massive pile of FAIL. It's simply impossible to watch this team without wanting to throw a brick right thru the t.v or slash your wrists open. I'm serious.
  18. [expletive] you, Jim Hendry, for making tons of terrible offseason moves. [expletive] you, Lou Pineilla, for making tons of terrible decisions. [expletive] this team.
  19. After his next out, his batting average will be below .200. He deserves it, it's like a big 'FAIL' on the scoreboard for everybody to see.
