  1. Just an absolute circus, this team. I've enjoyed absolutely nothing about the Cubs since the playoff FAIL. We have 2 or 3 minor league guys playing every single night........stomach-churningly awful.
  2. Hopefully Kevin Towers is paying attention. Wells for Adrian Gonzalez. Straight up.
  3. Feels like 2006. Many players who I just plain hate to watch at the plate. I don't recall feeling that way last year about anybody, with the possible of kfuk late in the season. It just feels like the Cubs are on the downslide. :(
  4. Gotta have balance in the lineup. Don't want to be too left-handed.
  5. yay kouske, plz to hit more home runs okthxbi.
  6. Man, I like Soriano but I'd almost want us to fall out of contention if we can deal some of these guys. Alfonso, specifically. Of the guys with big contracts, I really only like Ramirez as a guy to (re)-build around. But as many have noted, it's going to be really hard to move any of these guys, for various reasons.
  7. Hey, at least you can't lose those games. Unless these c00bs are so bad..............
  8. Lou didn't like Wuertz, Gaudin or Vizcaino. Surely, Lou's feelings should be put before wins and losses, right? He didn't like Eyre, either. I mean, he wasn't an all-star but compared to most of our current pen, he was. :boggle
  9. That was unbelievable. Would it kill someone on this team to show some fire? Z should start punching people in the dugout. I nominate Cotts, Patton, Miles, Heilman and Freel. Dempster did smash up the gatorade machine. Yes, I did see that. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing somebody punch him too. I expected a bit of a drop off after last year but he's been awful. That contract is already a massive albatross.

  11. Dempster wasn't even close on that one where he was arguing with the up. He's just been terrible this year. How did he manage to do so well last year?
  12. Right, but the teams from 04 and 05 were both better than the 06 team.
  13. The OP might want to read posts like this that show that his frustration is wildly misplaced. Fukudome has a .360 OBP in the last week. Yeah. he doesn't have an .800 ops for May (.779), but his .417 OBP is #9 in MLB and his May OBP is #19 in MLB. He's still getting a fair amount of walks but it's been a while since he really drove a ball. When I say Kouske in the beginning of the season, he had totally abandoned the fukucopter and looked like a totally different player. Driving the ball all over the park, hanging in there much better. However, lately I've been seeing the old approach and the results are declining. He got on base at a decent clip last year, too, and everybody still wanted his head by September. If he keeps it up, his numbers are going to continue to decline. This I am sure of.
  14. Exactly. If Hendry hadn't been able to spend gobs of money the past couple of offseasons, is there any doubt that the Cubs would have finished in the toilet? Imagine if he had to work with a $75-80 million payroll. The results would be epic, and not in a good way.
  15. I realize players slump but when he went last year, he went bad and never recovered (at the same spot on the calender, too). I'd rather talk about something else, too, but I can't help but notice the change in his approach.
  16. It probably has something to do with the fact that he's a good manager. Have some perspective, think about how the Cubs did the season before Lou got here, look at what he did the 2 full seasons he was here, think of all the attributes about this ballclub that immediately changed when he came aboard. Then think of all the injuries and turmoil we've had this year. No one in their right mind would consider all that, and then fire a manager 25% into the season when his team is above .500 Well, the 2007 team had a lot more talent than the 2006 team. I'd say that had more to do with the increase in wins, rather than Lou being on the bench.
  17. Heh, because pretty much everyone on the team sucks right now. I can't believe this team is only 4 games out of first place.
  18. I was just going to say that his manager from Japan recently paid him a visit. Yeah, we shouldn't allow that guy to meet with him anymore. Fukudome was looking great early in the season, striding towards the pitcher, really getting into it. His plate appearances lately have been vintage 2008. Lou and Gerald need to straighten him out.
  19. Lately Kouske has been looking like the guy from the last 4 months of 2008. Stepping way in the bucket and doing his Fukucopter thing. Is anybody else seeing this?
  20. I've never liked Lou so I'd be happy to see him get sent packing. Perry should stay.
  21. The fukucopter looks back. Way in the bucket there. Just a horrible, horrible baseball team.
  22. Scales is at third. If Lou is really trying to keep Fontenot at 2nd to concentrate on his hitting, that's good news for Scales and to a lesser extent Freel and bad news for Miles. Bad news for Miles is good news for us. But then again, Ryan Freel is horrible too.
