  1. There was something on TV last night about Wood not closing right away until he can prove his finger is healed. Not sure I agree with that methodology. If his finger isn't healed he shouldn't pitch, and if he is pitching I don't see why he isn't closing. Unless they are going to let Howry close, then I would be ok with it.
  2. Oh, really? If you told me the Cubs were going to finish last in the division, but every team in the NL Central was DQ'd due to some scheduling conflict, and then the Cubs won the WS, I would be very fine with that. :)
  3. Where is it being shown? The Youtube generation is slacking http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2008_08_04_milmlb_cinmlb_1 I love Thom's reaction. "Oh look at this!" Ha. Did you notice the "Things are coming apart for the Milwaukee Brewers, and it started with the four game sweet by the Mets, in Milwaukee."
  4. And if your name is Bob Howry, it likely means putting you in with a slim lead in the 7th or 8th
  5. +1!!! That would be awesome. I don't know how I would fare though, being that I will likely always live in Indianapolis, but already have a Cubs tattoo... hmm
  6. 2008: 3 starts, 2-0, 17.1 IP, 6ER, 17 H, 5 BB, 12 K's
  7. fixed
  8. If we dont shut them out every game, we'll be making them look better than they are. I suppose, but we do have Jason Marquis....
  9. Great series against the Brewers. The long-distance girlfriend called last night and said "We made the Brewers look awful this week!" Lets NOT make the Pirates look better than they are, please. :beg:
  10. I don't know if I would say it's MUCH more important. I guess it all depends on how the Brewers decide to play. But, given we just got done spanking them in Miller Park, the last series of the year doesn't worry me near as much as I thought it did.
  11. Really surprised that he isn't in the clubhouse packing his things. I guess it doesn't matter if Lou is not going to use him though. Maybe it is Lou's way of saying "thanks for everything" by giving him a warm-up session.
  12. Think this have anything connection with his lack of use since his return from the DL? Yup..Why oh why can't it be Bob Howry instead No kidding. Is Neal Cotts our lefty specialist then?
  13. Think this have anything connection with his lack of use since his return from the DL?
  14. Dangerous. We don't need Ibanez with that lineup. Why the hell is soto 8th though. He hasnt been slumping THAT bad, jesus. I guess my thoughts are, where do you stick all the people? I guess switching DeRo and Soto, but still, freakin' Mark DeRosa would be our 8 hitter. Geo is just as, if not more crazy though.
  15. lol. Gotta love Pee-Hands Alou

  17. I never said opp. batting average. Thanks though
  18. Wuertz is also terrible Sadly, statisics would suggest otherwise. Prior to last night Wuertz had a 5.40 ERA and a 1.80 WHIP in 5 appearances since his demotion. Yeah, that is a great sample size there. Weurtz had a proven track record of "not being terrible". There is no point debating this. Weurtz is not terrible. Seriously. You know who else had a proven track record of "not being terrible"? Bob Howry. Exept for 2008 of course. The same could be said for Wuertz. The arguement that either of the haven't been terrible is wrong No, not really. Agree to disagree, I guess. No, there really is nothign to disagree about. Wuertz was not terrible in 2008. His demotion was based on bad outing he had vs. Cincy. He was actually lights out in May & June. Can we please operate with some facts here. Thanks. K compelling agrument. I was taking the high road because there is no changing your man-crush on Mike Wuertz. I had looked up the stats, was going to post his WHIP and OBA, but decided it was in vein. OBA is .331 btw I'm pretty sure that stat isn't correct. compelling agrument... I'm pretty sure that is what cubs.com stats says... I don't know. You should check it. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/stats/sortable_player_stats.jsp?c_id=chc&section2=1&statSet2=2&sortByStat=IP&statType=2&timeFrame=1&timeSubFrame=2008&baseballScope=CH2&prevPage2=1&readBoxes=true&sitSplit=&venueID=&subScope=pos&teamPosCode=all
