  1. You won't jinx it. We are going to make the playoffs. 99.5% chance. Thats about what our chances were of going to the Series after being up 3-1 on the Marlins in 2003 I looked and can't find what our % chance was after game 4, but I would bet that it was less than 99.5%

  3. MVP isn't who did the best in the 2nd half. Although he has sucked hard, the entire season is what is going to be looked at. No one that votes will even know he has had a terrible 2nd half.
  4. but remember this includes him and his father so maybe that guy did a lot of good to even out all the things the younger one has done im jjust spitballin No. Not even 100 consecutive years of WS championships could even out all the things GWB has f'd up. Well.... maybe 100 would be enough \:D/
  5. How about a road gray uni with blue pinstripes? I'm thinking like the Rockies road uni. Then we could go with the all white home. http://www.prosportsmemorabilia.com/Images/Product/51-48/51-48125-F.jpg
  6. So you're telling me there's a chance! I love that we (and the players, it seems) expect to win every night. That's the way it should be. So, Ted, you're due for a good outing. Make it happen. Ted Lilly has looked good in his last couple outings I'm pretty sure, 3 August starts: 2-0 record 6.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 K's, 6 H's, 3 BB's 7.1 IP, 2 ER, 4 K's, 7 H's, 2 BB's 6.0 IP, 4 ER, 8 K's, 8 H's, 2 BB's and ONLY 2 HR's in those 3 starts =D>
  7. I went with GWB. He managed to ruin the world in just 8 short years.
  8. I would hope that nobody is rooting against these kids. From the guy who can't wait to run over to NSBB and update everyone on Murton's, Patterson's, and Gallagher's struggles, that's rich. well, I would be more than happy to report on their successes when they occur. Why the personal shot, Brusstar? Who pee'd in your proverbial Cherios? Really? Why is this thread missing posts from you regarding Gallagher's first four starts? He must have deleted them.
  9. I hate any game that isn't on WGN. I agree. I had all the Cubs games at my aunts house where I was living during the summer. Now, my apartment only gets WGN for Cubs games that aren't on ESPN, FOX, etc.
  10. UMFan - He went 7 innings!!!
  11. Hey, we expect this to be the year. But, if it doesn't work out that way... [-X Don't think that way.
  12. The Mega Cubs win, but Lilly gives up 14 HR's over 3 1/3 innings. Mega Cubs - 94 DB Reds - 67 Looks like a US men's bball score.
  13. I don't know what to take from this. As LLF said, facebook is a small sample size. That said, the Indians don't have more fans than the Cubs.
  14. You dont think that Theriot has played a part in the Cubs success this year? Im not saying hes worthy of the award, but he is having a very good year. He has been the most consistent offensive performer on the best team in the NL this year. As for Berkman vs Pujols, Pujols might have better counting stats at this point, but Berkman is outperforming him. Creating more runs, winning more games, better in the clutch. I've already tried this, and it doesn't hold water. See EqA for Cubs players in 2008. EqA (considers batting as well as baserunning): Edmonds: 316 Soriano: 297 Ramirez: 294 Soto: 288 DeRosa: 285 Lee: 279 Theriot: 271 Fukudome: 267
  15. I don't care who we beat. If whatever team makes it to the WS (White Sox, Angels, Twins, whoever) and we play and then beat them, it won't matter who the other team was. The only thing that will get coverage (outside of US NeverSellOut) is that the Cubs won the WS for the first time in 100 yrs, NOT who they beat up on to do it. Sox fans will say "Oh, you beat xyz team and they suck" or whatever. But what team are we going to play that they will be able to say that? They wouldn't be able to say it if its any team from the Central, the Rays are tied for the best record in baseball, the Red Sox aren't bad, and the Angels aren't bad.
  16. Yeah, lou is a idiot and a soriano is selfish hack. ?
  17. it depends... does anyone play lf, or are the cubs just fielding a team with 8 players and nobody in lf? :rotfl: I lol'd at work. Thanks for that.
  18. Ok, so this is what I don't understand: I respect all the people who know all the stats there are to know about baseball, but they play no relevance in MVP, Cy Young, ROTY, etc. Everyone (not everyone, but you know what I mean) seems to think wins, hits, BA, and on and on and on are these pointless/meaningless stats that should have no bearing on anything, but they play a VERY VERY key role in end of season awards, etc. Thoughts? Wins and Saves are "pointless" in the fact that they do not really enlighten us as to a player's pitching ability, but they are not "pointless" in the sense that they matter for awards. Is that an example of what you're trying to say in a nutshell? That's the problem. Members of the "old guard" in baseball, who are obsessed with the conventional wisdom that wins, BA, etc. are meaningful are oftentimes unwilling to consider more useful/descriptive statistics. It's extremely frustrating, especially when a knowledgeable writer like Neyer discusses who will win instead of who should. At least discussion who should win would open some eyes in the same way the (Jim Caple?) article on saves did. Yes, thank you.

  20. Obviously they won't look to project out numbers when voting for the MVP, but these are stupid numbers to put up from the leadoff spot.
  21. Well, the Cubs didn't lose on August 17, 2006. They didn't exactly have a game to play, but that's beside the point.
  22. We would knock him around at either venue.
