  1. Fangraphs has the Cubs' odds of winning at 88%, but I'm assuming that doesn't take into account the Cardinals Outlandish Bullcrap Scale (COBS).
  2. I can tell you without even running a statistical test that there's no way that difference has occurred through chance alone. obviously not they cheat I tend to go with "Pact with Satan," myself.
  3. I can tell you without even running a statistical test that there's no way that difference has occurred through chance alone.
  4. I never thought I'd call for electronic balls and strikes, but we need electronic balls and strikes. The strike zone is not subjective.
  5. Let's all brace ourselves. We know the Cardinals are going to get the clutch hit they need. You know, because scoring rallies with a guy on first and two outs and facing an ace are so [expletive] common.
  6. Maybe if we actually get a hit with the bases loaded this game isn't even close.
  7. So of course we can't cruise to an easy 3-0 win. Every. Single. Game.
  8. Denorfia is good, but that was a horrible AB.
  9. What happened to the Soler Special strike zone?
  10. I want Arrieta starting in the wildcard game.
  11. He just crushed the ball. It would have been gone on a normal day.
  12. I told you guys that complaining loudly would solve our problems! Yay!
  13. WHAT THE [expletive] DO WE HAVE TO DO TO SCORE A [expletive] RUN?!
  14. Not even going to pay attention to today's games unless something good is happening. The Cubs have proven that recently, that at least offensively speaking, they're not worth anyone's time.
  15. You have to figure that even if we only had a .450 chance to win any given Cardinals game, we'd still be expected to win between four and five games of any given ten game stretch. We've won two out of ten games against the Cardinals this year. Even if that .45 winning percentage was true (it's not, it's probably slightly below .50, because in all honesty, our rosters are very evenly matched on paper - and our offense is slightly better, performance with RISP aside), the Cubs would only have a ten percent chance of winning two or fewer of ten games against the Cardinals. If our true winning percentage against the Cardinals was .40, there's still only a 16 percent chance we'd win two or fewer games in a ten game stretch. Baseball is [expletive] sometimes.
  16. Maybe we can motivate the offense by promising them ice cream after the game if they win.
  17. Thr big bang theory Grown men who get upset at the athletic performance of other grown men.
  18. And we were supposed to have Annibal Sanchez instead, who won the ERA title after he signed with the Tigers. (But kinda sucks this year).
  19. Also, Edwin needs to be gone tomorrow. I can't imagine management or the front office has any patience left with him.
  20. If the Cubs were just slightly better with hitting with guys in scoring position, the past two weeks don't even look that bad. But a combination of everyone sans Bryant slumping at the same time and everyone forgetting How to hit a baseball with RISP has made for a historically putrid stretch. This is as much an issue of approach and mentality as it is about having a couple bad hitters in the lineup. If everyone was playing to their career averages right now, We'd be fine. But Fowler decided to be bad at baseball in his contract year (when the opposite is supposed to happen), Castro picked a key resurgence year to suck (yet he hit well season when it hardly mattered), and Russell is going through some obvious growing pains. A lot is going wrong for the offense to be performing this poorly. But biggest of all, we can't get a clutch hit worth a damn.
  21. At what point does Maddon lose patience and tell the team to score some [expletive] runs? There's no excuse for the two-week offensive slump we've had. A few games, or a week, sure. Not two weeks. We're better than that. (I'll admit that I'm just fantasizing and there's no way this actually happens).
  22. The odds that every Cardinals-Cubs series would descend into a storm of fluky [expletive] on random chance alone has to be worse than winning the lottery. I have a math degree and I seriously can't comprehend how this happens time after time after time after time after time.
  23. Starting to get really sick of this offense. We aren't -this- bad. Not in on paper.
