    BP is doing a goofy pretend it's 2017 thing today What's the reasoning for choosing July 8th as flashforward day? I clicked around BP's website and couldn't find anything.

    Holy cow, the Cubs jumped to 21 games over .500 overnight! http://www.baseballprospectus.com/odds/ It's magic! EDIT: For some weird reason, the page says it was updated in 2017, and all the standings are summarily borked up.

    That's not all that matters. An inning+ with a 3 run lead or, 3+ innings with any lead will also result in a save if you finish the game. A pitcher recorded a save in the Rangers/Orioles 30-3 game back in 2007 because of this very rule.
