  1. Are the Cubs seriously not allowed to get any clutch hits? Seriously, when is the last time we had a big run scoring hit late and close in the game? Rizzo's home run in Arizona? This is truly awful.
  2. Starting to lose my patience with this team.
  3. Funny how our excellent reliever hangs a meatball on 2-0 while Hoover made excellent pitches on 2-0 against our guys. He can't make a mistake, nosiree.
  4. I'm probably in the minority opinion, but does anyone think Castro is trying to be a more patient hitter and is just slumping because he's going through an adjustment period? It does seem like he's trying to be a more selective hitter, he just doesn't know how to do that yet.
  5. Hooray runs! And Russell is blown away by a 90 MPH fastball.
  6. Holy [expletive], we made a clutch hit.
  7. Giants play tonight, if they win and we lose, we're tied Wouldn't be a problem if we knew how to score runs like a major league team. Also, I hate AJ for calling a good game. A mistake pitch would be nice.
  8. That was a random gyro picture from Google images. I have no idea where it's from. Fargo has a nice Greek/Mediterranean place, though.
  9. If Kris is going to make errors as of late, he can at least be nice enough to hit more dongs to compensate.
  10. Post some food, it's cathartic. Anyone else love Greek food?
  11. I can't wait for this major league baseball club with four excellent hitters going against the team with the worst bullpen in baseball to score less than three runs. [expletive], I'm bitter at this club. I have no expectations today. Please let good things happen.
  12. Pretty much this, but it's not just power, it's everything. Bryant has been fine, actually, but everyone else has been abysmal. Here's the slashlines for most of our primary guys over the last 14 days: Bryant: .244/.380/.512/.892 Rizzo: .256/.412/.359/.771 Montero: .182/.250/.303/.553 Soler: .233/.258/.300/.558 Denorfia: .235/.278/.265/.542 Fowler: .200/.280/.244/.524 Castro: .159/.224/.205/.429 Russell: .121/.237/.152/.388 Coghlan: .138/.286/.138/.424 Rizzo's would be fine if others were hitting the ball like they should, but they're not so our offense pretty much lives and dies with the tandem performance of Bryant and Rizzo. In this stretch run of awfulness, Rizzo would still at least be providing a great OBP allowing for opportunities to get driven in, but when nobody can drive you in it's useless. And since no one can drive him in we need to rely on him for power, and his SLG has been embarrassing in this stretch. With Schwarber up, and his solid performance today, if he can keep that up and Rizzo bounces back then the team is totally different, even if the others keep performing like jerks, but this team-wide swoon really needs to knock it the [expletive] off. Good lord, that's abysmal. There's no way that's sustainable, right? Right?
  13. Also, the power hitters aren't hitting for power. I don't know if there's any quick solution, but firing the hitting coach would be awfully cathartic. As nice as it would feel, telling the offense to stop sucking wouldn't accomplish much.
  14. Would have been nice if the Cubs could have exploded out of the gate and set the tone for the rest of the season.
  15. Sigh. [expletive] the Cubs. Score more than two runs a game. For [expletive]'s sake.
  16. I'm never going to say 'At least the heart of the lineup is coming up' ever again. Never seems to do us any good.
  17. It's not a horrible acquisition if he actually plays like he's supposed to. Naturally the year he decides to suck is his contract year.
  18. Imagine how much better that lineup would be if Fowler and Castro were playing up to their career norms. Still, it's probably better than what any other team except the Blue Jays could throw out there.
  19. Watching Rosenthal unravel like that was immensely satisfying.
  20. Man, Rosenthal only has his fastball tonight. The Pirates are smartly sitting on it.
  21. Why the hell is Jackson still on this team?
  22. That and a stern lecture from Maddon.
  23. Wow, a run. Right after our supposed ace shits the bed.
