I have nothing against them. I may actually root for them. Do it for Uecker. I hope some of you trip and somehow land on your nuts while going to bed tonight. That's why I've taken a huge step back from the Cubs after 2016. The fact that sports can do this to people is dumb. It's pure tribalism. Be happy for the Brewers if they go far. -
Why do we care about the Brewers winning the World Series? That'd be an amazing baseball story. Better them than the Yankees, Red Sox, or Dodgers.

Nice, going to get to go to see Miller Park without the stress of being emotionally invested in the Cubs. I don't want to be a big enough meatball to say the Cubs weren't trying, but man, what an embarrassing funk they've been mired in the last two days.

The entire series has been identical for me. Pregame: "eh, if they lose it happens, I like their odds but baseball, etc" The moment the Cubs give up a hit or make an out: "come on you idiots I am DYING here" I've discovered that if you get hung up on every play going your way - every pitch to the Cubs you either want called a ball or to be a meatball down the middle, every ball in play you want to be a hit, every ball in play the opponents hit you want to be an out... there are so many of these plays in baseball that you'll only make yourself miserable. Easier said than done, I know.

that's just dumb. today is "win today and you can win the world series tomorrow." none of us has seen that. arguing that Game 6 of the WS is equivalent to Game 7 of an NLCS makes no sense at all. but you do you. yeah, it's kind of like the argument that came up when i said i would take being 3 straight wins away from winning the WS every year, and people brought up that the pre-season odds may have been a smidge higher. The odds of winning three straight to win the World Series is something like 15%, right? I feel like only truly elite teams are projected to have a higher World Series winning % in the preseason, so if you're an average playoff team in the 90-95 win range, you would take having to win three straight to clinch a title every time. It's just not as good of a bet for the Cubs before they're a true powerhouse.

It must be a hard thing to fix if they're still flailing wildly at garbage. It's not like they don't know what the problem is. Bad timing for a mental breakdown, really. Baseball is happening. We are in a slump and cleveland has good pitchers. This is a stupid sport. Why the hell can't a team as good as the Cubs make other teams look completely hopeless? We're eight games better than the Indians and they haven't broken a sweat the entire playoffs. In all three series, the Cubs have struggled in certain portions. (The answer is baseball).

Clearly Maddon didn't shout hard enough/speak inspirationally enough/hire enough magicians/show footage of the team's horrible performance enough after yesterday's game.
