  1. Whew! The Bears' DST (mainly the kickoff returning) and Rice pulled it out for me. I'm not sure I really deserved the championship (two of the three playoff weeks I was the 3rd lowest scoring team but had the luck of playing one of the lower scoring teams), but I'm perfectly willing to acknowledge the role luck can play. It's been a fun season. I'm greedy, so I'll be looking to repeat next year. :D
  2. I have Stewart in one of my leagues and Williams in the other. Unfortunately, the league I'm playing for the championship in is the one I have Williams in and the league I didn't even make the playoffs is the one I have Stewart in.
  3. Looks like starting Manning over Moore could cost me the championship. At least I'm still in it, down by a little over 12 but with a 2 to 1 remaining advantage. I still think I made the right decision at the time, since Moore's performance was unexpected and the Colts were silent about their plans for Manning.
  4. Matt Moore is making me cross my fingers hoping I made the right decision at QB.

  6. There's mention of this in the bowl games thread, but I think this is stunning enough to warrant its own thread. Urban Meyer announced today that he is stepping down for health reasons. No specifics were given, but it was mentioned on the telecast of the Meineke Car Care Bowl (not in the article I linked to) that there is no immediate health concern. So my interpretation is that he's been warned that something may happen in the future if he doesn't make changes. He will coach Florida in the Sugar Bowl.
  7. I'm in essentially the same position except substitute Vince Young for Eli. I plan to follow the reports during the week and if it sounds like Peyton is likely to play most of the game I'll use him, but if he's likely to play half or less of the game I won't hesitate to use Young instead. At the time I wrote this I forgot that the Titans play on Christmas, so I'm not going to play Young. I picked up Matt Moore (who seemed to be the best available QB) as a fallback option if the Colts plan to rest Peyton. Unless there's talk closer to game time of him sitting out much of the game, though, I'll win or lose with Peyton.
  8. Starting with a time machine. :D
  9. I have no idea what you are laughing at. I got it right ... the second time. Again why I shouldn't post just before going to bed. Probably the spelling. You reap what you sow, not sew.

  11. Sorry folks, the nightmare isn't over yet. Two more weeks of torture remain. And since this is the Monday night game, that means there is no alternate game to switch to if (or, rather, when) this game gets out of hand. Let the fun begin.
  12. He's obviously trolling to get a reaction. If people stop responding to him he'll probably get bored and stop. We all know that wins are not a good way of evaluating a pitcher; who cares if BW admits it or not?
  13. Ogunleye is out for the year with a broken leg.
  14. He's got 5/10 rights. And he was the first player in history to exercise that right to block a trade. ninja edit: That trade was to the Angels in 1972 for a pair of guys who never amounted to anything. After that, he was traded to the White Sox. I think it was December '73 It was. Santo had a good year for the Cubs in 1973, but by that time they were completely dismantling that team. I don't remember who the Cubs were supposed to get from the Angels, but they got Steve Stone and Steve Swisher among others from the Sox after the proposed trade to the Angels fell through.
  15. Bye bye Lovie. Bye bye Turner.
  16. Congrats NC. You well deserve the win. Just shows how much of a crapshoot fantasy football is from week to week. Last week my team was rather putrid (third lowest score) and you would have easily beaten me, but I was fortunate to be up against the team with the second lowest score. This week against better competition my team steps up to the challenge. They remind me of the Colts in the sense that they frequently do just enough to win.
  17. If Williams and Rice can combine for about 6 points tonight I'm playing for the championship. \:D/
  18. The start of tomorrow's 49ers at Eagles game has also been pushed back to the late afternoon slot because of the weather.
  19. UMass and Memphis. He was coach at UMass several years ago when they made the Final Four (I believe that was the year UK won the national championship under Pitino).
  20. The storm responsible for the delay is expected to be a monster. Parts of North Carolina got walloped today, and areas in Virginia and around Washington are expected to get one to two feet of snow.
  21. But his 4 TDs, with one of them to Collie, helped my team a heck of a lot more. :P
  22. Five TDs for me already (4 TD passes by Manning, with one of them to Collie). I'm feeling pretty good so far.
  23. Play it safe; sit both of them to protect against negative points.
