  1. Well, I hope you're right, because I don't want to be the only one dropping quality talent! I know most people haven't gotten to legal rosters yet, but the draft pool is mainly my guys at this point. :( I've made Victorino, Ryan Zimmerman, and Franklin Gutierrez, among others, available. Maybe not superstar talent, but not too shabby.
  2. The "done deal" is not a done deal. It is being discussed as a possibility.
  3. The 2000 point limit really makes it more challenging, but the upside is a lot of talent available in the draft. I think post-season trades may become virtually extinct because just about all of us are trying to shed points rather than add.
  4. It's now official. I didn't realize Millar is Wayne Nordhagen's nephew. He spent most of his career with the White Sox but finished his career with the Cubs in 1983.
  5. My roster is now legal. Lind--566.5 Cabrera--554.2 Young--429.5 Schierholtz--Exempt Marmol--242.5 Volquez--101 (getting a head start on my DL) Smoltz--79 Stauffer--Exempt Norris--Exempt Davis--Exempt Total points--1972.7 More pitchers and fewer position players than I'd like, but all of my position players had over 330 points and all of my exempt players (except for Schierholtz) are pitchers.
  6. The last time he posted was July 2009; the last time he was logged in was September.
  7. It's been corrected. It says Alfonso now.
  8. You got your wish. :D
  9. Former Cub Josh Hamilton's school. :D Go Camels! (That's where I teach.)
  10. no way that happens. are you kidding? wow. Seems impossible, which is exactly why it will happen. Typical Cubs luck. (No, I don't really think it will happen, but we are talking about the Cubs.)
  11. What do I win for being the first? :D
  12. My recollection was that the Cubs were insisting on a club option for a second year to avoid paying him to rehabilitate for another team. Prior wasn't willing to accept the option so the Cubs said bye bye.
  13. Game 163, tie-breaker between the Reds and Cubs for the 2010 NLCentral championship in Cincinnati. Cubs lead 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th. Runner on 1st and 2 out, Miles hits a walk-off pinch-hit home run to beat the Cubs 5-4. Count on it.
  14. At home, no less. To a bad team. Virginia actually isn't bad this year. They're only 1/2 game out of the ACC lead and 13-6 overall.
  15. At home, no less.
  16. I believe that was to reduce the possibility of a team out of contention intentionally tanking to improve draft position.
  17. Wow, 40 rainouts. :D
  18. Payment will go out in tomorrow's mail.
  19. I can live with it either way, but my preference is to do a one-night draft as we have prior to last year. Even if the bugs in the system are worked out there's still the issue of the draft screeching to a halt if somebody is away for a day or two when his turn comes up.
  20. Did I talk more about Rich Hill than I remember doing? I hope Hill is just good enough to be mediocre in St. Louis and get crushed every time the Cubs face him. We'll see. He may have you mixed up with abuck.
  21. Did some mad scientist combine Tom Moore and Jim Mora? :D
  22. Colts are my second favorite team (behind the Bears). Last time I couldn't really enjoy the Colts' title since it came at the Bears' expense, so this time I'm for the Colts all the way. Had it been any other AFC team I would have been for the Saints to win their first Super Bowl.
  23. Who will win?
  24. But other than that he's great. :D
