  1. Former Cub Billy Sunday did the same thing (I forget whether he was late 1800s or early 1900s).
  2. I'm kind of back to where I was before 2003, which is being a fan but not obsessed. I'll watch the game if there's not something else I'd rather be doing, but it's not as much of a priority as it was for a few years. Last year was the first year since 2001 that I didn't go to a Cubs game (home or on the road), and it didn't seem to me like I was missing out (I still went to a few minor league games).
  3. I'm in.
  4. I will always think of Jody Davis when I see a #7 on the Cubs. Jody, Jody DavisCatcher without a peer
  5. And UNC also lost tonight, to Wake Forest (their third consecutive loss). Not often that Duke and UNC lose the same night.
  6. Stockstill's a really good coach. He should get a major job before too long if he can keep up what he's building at MTSU. Also, former UT OC Dave Clawson has been rumored for the ECU opening now. He did really well as the head man at Bowling Green this year. Another rumored candidate is the current head coach at Liberty (I forget his name).
  7. Tiger is reportedly receiving treatment at a sex rehab clinic in Mississippi.
  8. Rick Stockstill has turned down East Carolina's offer and will remain at Middle Tennessee.
  9. With the tragic death of Adams the idea of trading Hester for a second rounder is starting to sound quite attractive to me.
  10. There's a reason that the Redskins cut him. The Cowboys are finding out that reason.
  11. Full back, minus the space, obviously; the filter censors any word starting with F and ending with CK Actually it's words beginning with FU, not just F.
  12. Didn't you know you can't say full back anymore? [-X
  13. Yes, it was Mackovic. He was coach of the Chiefs before Illinois.
  14. Please, PLEASE, PLEASE!
  15. Novoa and Fox. More specifically, Chad Fox (as opposed to Jake Fox).
  16. The CUBS will be heavenly in sixty sevenly. I don't recall that one since I didn't start following the Cubs until 69, but that sounds like what he'd come up with. I also think he said "The Cubs will come through in 72."
  17. I remember when Ernie Banks came up with a slogan for each year. The specific ones I remember are "The Cubs will shine in 69," "The Cubs will glow in 7-0," and "The Cubs will be thunderous in 71-derous."
  18. If I remember correctly they brought him to AAA to avoid another conflict with the AA pitching coach, which is where the issue arose. Maybe it depends in part on where that pitching coach is now. I don't remember ever hearing exactly WHY he was sent down. Was that ever discussed and brought out into the open? For some reason, I was thinking I had read he was missing curfews and it pissed off Sandberg.......Definitely could be mixed up here though. I was thinking the conflict was with Lewallyn, the pitching coach (as Goony was thinking). He's still pitching coach at Tennessee for 2010.
  19. Isn't Randy Bush in the same position? Or is he just the assistant GM? Because if he has the same role, Bush has been mentioned for possible GM jobs. Bush is Assistant GM, not Assistant to the GM.
  20. Hendry will call him up before the deadline. :D
  21. I believe it was elbow surgery, but I don't think it was TJS. It seems to me that pitchers generally come back better from elbow surgery than shoulder surgery, but not always (one example of an unsuccessful comeback from TJS is Luke Hagerty a few years ago).
  22. Jerry Wainwright is apparently out as DePaul coach.
  23. They might be favored too. they are not. Sat 1/16 Arizona Cardinals @ New Orleans Saints -7 (O/U 56.5) Sat 1/16 Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts -6.5 (O/U 45) Sun 1/17 Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings -2.5 (O/U 46.5) Sun 1/17 New York Jets @ San Diego Chargers -9 (O/U 42.5) I thought he was saying they might be favored in the championship game if they make it.
  24. Saturday, Jan. 16 Arizona @ New Orleans, 4:30 P.M., FOX Baltimore @ Indianapolis, 8:15 P.M., CBS Sunday, Jan. 17 Dallas @ Minnesota, 1:00 P.M., FOX New York @ San Diego, 4:40 P.M., CBS
