  1. And in one of the two non-shutouts the only Cub run scored on a bases-loaded walk. So just one game in the past six that the Cubs actually scored on a hit.
  2. He could undergo Tommy John surgery on one elbow and rotator cuff or labrum surgery on the other shoulder simultaneously. :D
  3. Dear Cubs Offense: You are hereby notified that the complete incompetence you've displayed for the past several games will not be tolerated for even one more day. Consider it MANDATORY that you start a winning streak IMMEDIATELY. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this very important matter, and have a nice day.
  4. Yep, Bynum sure provided great defense. :^o
  5. Showing that I don't learn from my mistakes, I forgot to activate Zambrano for tonight's game. He sure could have helped me with strikeouts, ERA, and WHIP. :(
  6. Yep, we passed on David Aardsma and Matt Murton. :D
  7. [-X How soon people forget. It's rnez (no o, no d). :D
  8. Watch your language. Vulgar language is not permitted on this board in order to keep it family friendly. The fact that the word sensors were turned on and converted the word you typed into asterisks doesn't make it acceptable.
  9. Being a Cub fan is like Hotel California. You can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave. And they went on to win the World Series.
  10. Actually, the Cruz vs. Zambrano issue was back when Baylor was still manager (2002). When Dusty took over in 2003, Zambrano was firmly in the rotation.
  11. Your signature unfortunately needs updating. :(
  12. I hope they send him back to Iowa to start. As much time as he missed the past few years, I think he needs regular action, not pitching out of the bullpen.
  13. Dibs on Novoa (I'd say Rusch, but he's already taken :D ).
  14. Definite no on trading Zambrano. He's off to a slow start this year, but he's the only one of the big three that can be counted on to remain healthy. Maddux is off to a great start, but nobody knows whether he'll keep it up all year. Trading Z could easily result in a disasterous rotation.
  15. What do you get when you cross a checkup with a shakeup? A chakeup.
  16. The university I teach at has finals this week too. I give my last one tomorrow (actually today now) afternoon.
  17. I merged the bus information into the road hotels thread. That way useful information for attending road games is in one stickied thread.
  18. No need to be condescending like that. You could have omitted the bolded part of your response and still gotten your point across.
  19. Sounds like Pratt is still as wild as I remember from when he was with the Cubs.
  20. The ones I've listened to have sounded fine (including the one with Tim last Friday).
  21. You dominated at Iowa, then had problems after being called up to the Cubs. Do you attribute that to nerves, a different approach to pitching at the major league level, or simply better hitters? Hang in there; you'll be back up. Even Greg Maddux got sent down during his rookie season, so you're in good company.
  22. Maddux is without question homegrown. Homegrown means that the player was developed in the system, not that he spent the majority of his major league career with the team.
  23. Ah, Spaceballs. Dark Helmet, Pizza the Hut, Master Yogurt, etc. I love Mel Brooks movies.
  24. Too bad the umpire stole the win from Marshall. As the announcers were saying, it's hard to be any farther out of the basepath. Still, I'll take the win.
  25. Quality starts for both Hernandez and Marshall for me tonight, although neither pitcher got a win. So far drafting both Maddux and Marshall has been a good move for me.
