  1. There's a pizza restaurant in Illinois I've been to that's the same way. One time the guests at one table put the shells in the ash tray, and the waitress went by and threw them on the floor.
  2. I think they SHOULD be used in the same sentence. As in "The NL will never adopt the DH." :D
  3. So now you have ESP and know that Prior will start next year on the DL?
  4. No problem; I've done my share of teasing other posters about obvious goofs in their posts. It's all good-natured.
  5. Interesting comment, since Prior has never needed surgery. Wood, on the other hand.....
  6. Never. They WILL pitch again; the only question is when. I hope its as Cubs... For Prior, at least, it's almost certain it will be, since he's under the Cubs' control through 2008. Wood should be as well; nothing about his situation suggests to me that he's going to miss the entire year.
  7. Maybe Hendry should have contacted Bowden immediately after the DUI arrest. Maybe Bowden was drunk enough to agree to it at the time. :D
  8. I saw that game. I remember Jack saying they weren't going to show replays because they didn't want to give the flag-burner the attention he was seeking. If I recall, it was a game against the Dodgers. And it was during the upcoming offseason that Monday was traded to the Dodgers for Bill Buckner and Ivan DeJesus.
  9. Never. They WILL pitch again; the only question is when.
  10. I'm sure you meant that they are NOT permitted here. Just to clarify.  #-o Doh. Actually, I've been asleep for a few weeks and thought it was April Fool's Day.
  11. He hasn't yet been ejected this year. :D
  12. I'm not positive, but I think it's for players who have left the team for some reason (possibly personal situations) but haven't retired. I think it's similar to the DL but for reasons other than illness or injury. I think it has the effect of opening up a roster position for somebody else until the player returns.
  13. You're an idiot. Despite Sammy's disposition for "enhancing" his performance, he didn't hit it over the socreboard. The CF wall is 400 feet. NO WAY is the tiptop of the scorebard 465, not to metion the trajectory of hitting it that much higher. It would take a shot much longer than 465 to clear it. Nobody's every hit it over the scoreboard. You will not call a poster an idiot again, nor will you say a poster is on crack again, if you wish to continue posting here. Personal attacks are not permitted on this board.
  14. Hmm, I obviously fell asleep for a few months. Last I remember it was April, and injury or no injury, the season obviously isn't over in April. Apparently it must now be August or September.
  15. I wouldn't say most Wal-Marts have gas stations; some do. There are two Wal-Marts within about 15 miles of my home. One of them does have a gas station; one doesn't. Neither of them have a Sam's club next door. I guess that shows how much I know about Wal-Marts. The closest one to me is 2 1/2 hours away (actually there are 2 of them there that I know about) and both have their own gas stations. Then again if I can avoid going to Wal-Mart, I do so there are probably plenty of Wal-Marts without them that I've seen and completely ignored in the past. It may be a regional thing. They may be more common in Texas than in North Carolina.
  16. sorry Oh well, that's life. I knew at the time that it was a risk because of his injury history. Hopefully he'll only miss a couple of weeks.
  17. THE DON!! The Donald.http://www.nbc.com/The_Apprentice_5/images/promote_blog.jpg
  18. This is NOT what I had in mind when I traded the #1 draft pick for him and Cordero.
  19. Yes. I hope I'm wrong, my friend, but I don't think I am. We'll certainly find out. I wasn't seriously trying to tell you what you should think, even if it came off that way. I just think that things are as hopeless as some people seem to think. But discussions would be boring if we didn't have both optimists and pessimists.
  20. Since when did Ron Cey look so much like Jack Bauer? :D
  21. Totally agree. It's ridiculous but let's still go ahead and give everybody extensions! Actually one coach was fired after 2004. They waved goodbye to Wavin' Wendell. How could I forget that one? Wasn't Dusty supposedly a little ticked off that Hendy let Wendell go? I don't remember what Dusty's reaction was, but that wouldn't surprise me. And even though Kim was the only coach fired, two other coaches (Sarge and Clines) swapped duties.
  22. "Former MLB player Derek Lee arrested" #-o
  23. Yes.
  24. I wouldn't say most Wal-Marts have gas stations; some do. There are two Wal-Marts within about 15 miles of my home. One of them does have a gas station; one doesn't. Neither of them have a Sam's club next door.
  25. I don't anticipate a major move at this time. I look for Hendry to see what happens over the next couple of weeks. If it looks like the Cubs can remain in the race with the current team I'd look for him to follow his M.O. from recent years (waiting until close to the deadline to see who becomes available at a decent price). If it looks like the Cubs are sinking then I think he'll do what it takes to stop the slide before it's too late.
