  1. In the right trade anybody is tradeable to any team. I think there's very little chance of a trade involving Z or Lee I'd be in favor of, but it isn't completely impossible. Same thing with Howry and Eyre. I wouldn't actively seek to trade them, but if any team (including the Cardinals or White Sox) offered a very good deal, the Cubs would be crazy not to consider it. I'm not actually advocating trading those players; I'm simply saying that you can't say conclusively at this point that a good offer won't come.
  2. More home cooking. This time all six teams at home.
  3. One more time. NOBODY IS 100% OFF LIMITS! He can't be serious. If you've read his gazillion posts saying the same thing, it seems like he is serious.
  4. In other words, Hendry will be all over him.
  5. One more time. NOBODY IS 100% OFF LIMITS!
  6. They didn't. Their trades with Pittsburgh that year were Ramirez/Lofton and Simon (separate trades). Looking at the 2003 Cubs page on Baseball Reference, I don't think they traded for any pitchers that year, although they did sign a few as free agents (Mike Remlinger, Dave Veres, Mark Guthrie, ans Shawn Estes).
  7. Do you mean Molina, Molina, or Molina? (Remember, there are three of them: Benji, Jose, and Yadier.)
  8. If you're talking about a CURRENT major league manager, I'd agree. If you're talking about a FORMER major league manager who wants to get back into managing, I'm not so sure. Two years is two more than zero years.
  9. Yes, that's what it is. Top team in each division gets a bye in the first round (playing a meaningless game against a non-playoff team) while #2 plays #3. Not that any of this matters to me, since unlike Jim Hendry I'm capable of admitting I'm not a contender. :D
  10. Once I'm back home for good (after one more trip) and have Internet access every day, I'll start doing it again if Busty is still the manager (which, thankfully, it's starting to sound more and more like he may not be much longer).
  11. I wonder if Dusty will see the writing on the wall and resign at the break rather being fired. I remember Shines from his minor league playing days. He played a couple years at Indianapolis (when they were the Expos' AAA team) when I was living in Indiana, and he was their top hitter, so he got quite a bit of publicity. That's a name you never forget once you see it.
  12. In a parallel universe where the Cubs actually have competent management, maybe.
  13. There will be a fan riot if they trade Z. I think many people from this board will be leading it. He's one player the Cubs MUST keep at all costs.
  14. Second time this year everybody who's playing is at home.
  15. Because by "we are working on it" Dusty meant they are trying to ensure that they give up the most. :D
  16. I edited this and turned it into an actual poll, which is what the Polls forum is used for.
  17. After a little of today's early action, I'm now up to negative 2 for the week. \:D/
  18. It's a shame. Both Blasko and Hagerty looked like they were going to be something a few years ago. Now neither seems to be able to come back from injury.
  19. That's cruel. The title of this thread had my hopes up.
  20. Correction: They should not be off limits to ANYBODY if the Cubs get a great offer.
  21. Iguchi sprained his ankle, so I replaced him with Sanchez for the rest of the week.
  22. I was doint that as my signature for awhile. I stopped doing it temporarily because I'll be vacationing and visiting relatives a fair amount this month, making it hard to keep updated. Once I'm done with that I may start doing it again when it's easier for me to update.
  23. They need to get Bynum back first. Then they'll be unbeatable.
  24. Hence the reason they started showing their age the following season.
  25. They're the best pinch hitters in baseball. :D
