  1. I think you're giving him too much credit here.
  2. It's Hendry's responsibility to make sure they ARE in a position to win next year. It's unreasonable for him to expect fans to be patient for two or three more years after he allowed what looked like a perennial contender to deteriorate. He created the problem; it's up to him to fix it right away. Any moves made need to be with the idea of winning next year, not in two or three (or even longer) years, and if they don't win next year he needs to be held accountable, contract extension notwithstanding.
  3. 1018th place, with 124 ESPN. :(
  4. I feel that's already been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. It was proven last year when he didn't shut Wood down last year and have him undergo surgery immediately when it was determined he needed it.
  5. He's not a bad pitcher. He may not be as good as he showed at the end of last year and start of this year, but when he's on he's very good. Today he was on.
  6. Hendry's obviously never seen Greg Maddux's rookie statistics. If he had he'd realize you need to have patience with young pitchers.
  7. I like the Brown comparison, because I think the Cubs should do the same thing the Knicks just did: Fire Baker, then make it clear that Hendry must show significant progress next year or else he's gone too.
  8. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a1/Banana_split.JPG/659px-Banana_split.JPG I'm sure he understands splits. :D
  9. I'd agree if they'd ever play competently enough to actually EARN an off day.
  10. Wow are you this obtuse? He's had other non-dusty related setbacks during that team which have only magnified and excerbated the situation. Is it that hard to see or is your raging hard-on for getting rid of Prior that dominating? Come on badger, there's no need for that. sorry. i couldn't think of a synonym :? It's not rocket science. You could have said something like "your desire for getting rid of Prior." Conveys the same thought in a more respectful tone.
  11. Marmol is starting today (Wednesday). Oh...I thought Guzman was taking his spot in the rotation? Well, if either Guzman or Marmol is sitting in the bullpen as a "long relief" man, it's a waste. In fact, the entire concept of long relief is a waste if you have a 12 man staff, IMO. You are trying to introduce logic into the decision making of the Cubs? :D He must be living in a parallel universe. Everybody in this universe knows that "logic" and "Cubs decision making" is a contradiction in terms.
  12. You're obviously forgetting this is the Cubs we're talking about. If they can extend Hendry and talk about extending Baker, and extend Rusch and Perez before the season, they can extend Pierre as well.
  13. I agree in some situations, but not all. A single is better if it advances a runner more than one base or if it advances a runner that would stay put if it were a walk. Otherwise (for example, if there's nobody on base) a single or walk are of equal value.
  14. That's great. That's seven more players than the parent club will probably have in the major league All-Star Game.
  15. Kansas City is no longer the team we need to surpass for the worst record in all of baseball; Pittsburgh is. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh isn't cooperating; they're losing even more than the Cubs right now. Don't lose faith, eventually the Cubs will play the Pirates. Very true; the Cubs control their own Dustiny. :D
  16. THE DON! (Twice in a row I was the one to get it in. :D )
  17. I finally got the production from Burnett that justifies trading the #1 draft choice for. Now he needs to keep doing this the rest of the year instead of spending more quality time on the DL.
  18. Kansas City is no longer the team we need to surpass for the worst record in all of baseball; Pittsburgh is. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh isn't cooperating; they're losing even more than the Cubs right now.
  19. Better still: Bring Joshua to him. Fire Clines and promote Joshua to major league hitting coach.
  20. The Cubs are winless since Lee's return. They could easily get swept again at home. They're playing like Little Leaguers on the field (my apologies to Little Leaguers for comparing them to the Cubs). Baker MUST go NOW.
  21. I edited the title to reflect what the article is actually about. No mention of the Cubs whatsoever in the article.
  22. I actually picked up Jackson for today in another league. Jerk. If the Cubs are going to lose anyway, at least Jackson should have gotten the win. :x
  23. I haven't received any reply to my e-mail from Saturday.
  24. I don't see why it would be impractical. Changes in affiliation always take place during the offseason, and even without a change minor league rosters would change substantially before the next season due to players moving up in the system.
  25. The reverse of about a week ago. Everybody on the road.
