  1. Eh, I think that 6 weeks is probably the right estimate. Still better than ESPN's "at least" 6 weeks, which could mean even longer.
  2. I hope he catches on with another team soon. My Hacking Mass team needs him. :D
  3. I've seen a couple of sources that say Soriano may not be out as long as ESPN reported. CBS Sportsline is reporting that he'll be out 4 to 6 weeks (as opposed to ESPN's "at least" 6 weeks). And Yahoo says he "could" miss 6 weeks.
  4. Each year he gets sent down counts as one option regardless of how many times he goes up and down during the year.
  5. Kosuke Fukudome for RF.Edmonds for CF? For now, until he shows his recent play was a fluke.

  7. But if we can't get a legitimate #2 and just want to push Marquis aside there's no need to make a trade at all. We can do that internally (Marshall).
  8. Because the Eastcoast Sports Propaganda Network says it is.
  9. I'm down by 3.5 but with a 6 to 4 pitching start advantage. Drew is still on fire, and since missing a couple of games with an injury Vlad seems to have remembered that he's Vlad. The eyes of Texas will be crying eyes this week. :D
  10. I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE.
  11. It linked to the wrong video. Click on the link again and find the video that says "Crisp exchange words with Maddon" that is 2:48 long. It's the second slide in the video. Wow. What Crisp did was bull. That slide was ridiculous with intent to injure Iwamura. IMO the ump should have thrown him out. Especially after the way he stalked off proving his intention. Then the yelling F you twice at someone else. Those add up to an automatic ejection in my book. If I was on the Rays I would thrown at his head and done it again the next time he comes up. Simply put what he did was bush league and no one (the league, or other team, or his team) should put up with it. I can't think of a single thing that's happened on the field in the last 25 years that would warrant throwing 1, let alone 2, fastballs at a guy's melon. The slide was bush-league and Shields was right to drill him in the hip, but to suggest he should aim for his head is crazy. Once you try to hurt one of my teammates you become fair game. In most sports its that way. You try to hurt my teammate I'm going to hurt you. You see it in football, hockey, basketball, soccer .. etc. In baseball its you try to hurt my teammate I'll give you a little bruise. You can give someone a little bruise (and a lot more) without aiming at someone's head. When you go for the head you risk killing them, or hurting them so badly that they can never play again (Juan Encarnacion). No, aiming for the head is never justified, period. and neither is kicking your legs up at a guys knees while sliding because he made a good defensive play your last time up. If I was on the Red Sox I would tell Crisp to stop being a j-hole. The way he struted and everything he did does nothing to help the team. I wasn't in any way trying to defend what Crisp did. But that doesn't change the fact that aiming for somebody's head is 100% inexcusable and unforgiveable under any circumstances.
  12. Neither of these guys are even on the roster right now, correct? Correct. Somebody (probably Hoff) will be called up and a pitcher sent down to get back to 12 pitchers.
  13. Nah, breathing is overrated.
  14. Kosuke Fukudome for RF.
  15. I've reset the league; watch for your invite from Yahoo if you participated last year. I've tentatively set the draft for Monday, Aug. 25 at 9:30 P.M. Eastern time; once the league is filled we can decide whether that's a good time. I was trying for a time fairly late in preseason, after training camp battles have played out, but with time remaining to make trades or other moves before the start of the season.
  16. Fairly soon (probably later this evening) I'll renew the league for 2008. First priority will go to those who participated last year (you should get an e-mail from Yahoo with the link for joining the league). After a reasonable period (probably about two weeks), if anybody from last year does not join for this year I'll open up the remaining slots on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the league is filled, if somebody else in the league would like a turn as commissioner I can transfer those powers. If more than one person is interested in serving as commissioner we'll hold an election. And a warning: Everybody else who signs up is playing for second place. I am so winning this league again.
  17. That's better. Either one is OK. He just doesn't deserve to stay in the NFL.
  18. and you're in second place despite barely having the fourth most points in the division. like ryan theriot's BA, you're due for a collapse. You're just jealous because I whipped you by over 70 points earlier this season (the week after I beat Raw by over 100). I've EARNED my standing by beating up on the usual powers in the East. :P
  19. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3435994 Hendry better not even THINK about signing him this year.
  20. I just thought I'd point out that I haven't had a single player go on the DL yet this year. *Ducks*
  21. The last few years was time for me to lose a few games (OK, time for me to lose MANY games). This year, just like the Cubs, it's time for me to win. Your going down this week! So far we're even, practically speaking. Your pitching start last night accounts for 12.5 points of your 12.75 point advantage. I just hope Drew, Derosa, and Vlad remain hot. That could go a long way toward determining the outcome.
  22. Ward apparently won't be ready to come off of the DL by then.
  23. I like being pesky. I think I'll stay around for awhile. :D
