  1. It’s a 5 man group that takes at least 7 to get through a season, so it’s in constant need of refreshment. But with an emerging qb I’d prefer better protection early in the career if I have a choice. Without getting to pedantic or creating mutually exclusive options, I'll take the Ja'Marr Chase side of the debate over the Penei Sewell side. i'd agree if you can get a Ja'Marr chase, but its only a one guy vs one guy debate and also, is there a WR of JC's level in this years draft?
  2. I'd tend to agree that #1 wr's aren't a truly definable required piece, what I think is actually more critical is having multiple good options. That puts more pressure on a D than a singe guy running his route
  3. If he wont get the record, I'd rather he sits the entire game. Good call as frustrating as it might be for him
  4. after his 70 yrd td run AND THE RECORD
  5. love the trade to Indy and still getting Anderson, plus the SMU WR btw, I keep forgetting SMU is a thing. I remember them getting the death penalty
  6. Never once when I was playing, but absolutely once I had a son. I highly encouraged him to play every sport except football. He tried flag football when he was like 8 or 9 and said it wasn't for him, and I was perfectly fine with that. I never found the risk for serious injury or death to be worrisome when my daughter was playing softball or volleyball or when he played baseball. When I played sports, including football, I never once considered the possibility of a catastrophic injury. I could comprehend the possibility for a broken bone or other orthopedic injury, but nothing beyond that was ever on my mind. Looking back at it now, and especially as a parent/coach, sports look more like a minefield of possible serious outcomes. Even baseball, which never concerned me one bit while playing, has the ever-present risk of one line drive or errant pitch changing someone's life forever. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  7. I don't see how last night would have any bearing on their decision to play Fields or not. my only thought was that the Bears may be thinking they should shut Fields down to keep him from any injury in a meaningless game, and what happened last night may remind them of that/reinforce the concerns. Not that Fields could suffer the same fate

I must be old like you, I never heard about it growing up. The worst injury I remember was watching a baseball teammate take a fly ball off their eye socket. It sounded like a golf ball hitting wood, left a giant bump and swelled their eye shut
  9. I wonder if the Hamlin heart attack will push the Bears brass into sitting Fields. I would love to see JF break the rushing record, but I am also mostly just done with football for the year
  10. If you have ever played a sport, has the idea that you may actually die ever crossed your mind? I watched that live, and it was just stunning and sickening. I know it's a violent sport but holy hell
  11. Seems plausible
  12. He had no heartbeat? That had to use an AED? Holy hell that's scary
  13. I wonder if he had a heart attack, it never really seemed like he hit his head hard, and they had to give cpr. But man, wtf would want to play after that End the game
  14. Yea, he just dropped to the ground and they had to do cpr?
  15. https://www.si.com/fannation/bringmethesports/vikings/in-search-of-truth-about-the-vikings-point-differential We'll have to see of course. Yesterday has to give anyone pause. It was a Packers team playing for their season and with a good QB and trending up. All teams play for their season in the playoffs. On the other hand, some of the things that caused that game to snowball (special teams, tipped INT return for TD) might not happen, and their OLine was almost immediately crippled too. yea, I'm not sure the Vikings are for real or not, I just happened to notice that article just before I read your posts. Side note: a guy a went to grad school who grew up in Wisconsin and is obviously a Packer fan, yet resides in Minneapolis took to FB to lambast the Viking faithful on how GB has been "exposing frauds since 1919". Now that is a team I want exposed early and often...
  16. They’ve wasted his first two years and it won’t be hard to waste the 3rd. Hey, Poles has 0 regrets guys
  17. Yeah they’ve got weapons and I think they can play good football, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see an early exit from the playoffs. https://www.si.com/fannation/bringmethesports/vikings/in-search-of-truth-about-the-vikings-point-differential
  18. No. Nobody can look at this and conclude the coaching staff is competent. Yea I mean I get it that we’re rebuilding and the roster is lolbad but I haven’t been particularly impressed this year. Eberflus was a head-scratching choice as HC, one of Poles first head-scratching decisions
  19. Small athletic olinemen are the way to go I'm told
  20. The house next to ours was built by a Navy submariner. It's fairly unique, valued around $1.3 mil or so. But we've had a run of neighbors. After the submariner and his real estate wife moved to France, they sold it to an older couple. We loved them, they were nice people. Unfortunately, they sold it and moved. The next couple we hated. They were brash, wealthy, and expected horsefeathers like our daughter was supposed to gather her friends and help them move in. She did not. The whole neighborhood hated them. They sold the house about 2 months ago. Where am I going with this....oh yeah. Our new neighbor is a retired pilot for Delta. Grew up in the Chi area and is also a big bears fan. The kicker: his son played high school ball in Kennesaw Georgia with Justin Fields when he was based out of Atlanta. I saw video evidence of this today. I'm working hard to get Scott and his family to host Mr Fields for a bbq...I'm not too hopeful that this would happen but if it does I will have died a happy man Go Bears
  21. How so? He's got Sam Mustipher as his current C, Mustiphers shape can only be described as round. Poles must be able to justify it somehow
  22. He's bigger than Grasu, Schmitz is 6-4 and 320. Grasu was 300 wet In fact, Schmitz will be one of the largest C's in the nfl if that's where he plays
