  1. that'll be an interesting working relationship given Russells strained relationship with Pete Carroll. To be fair, Payton will be much more "throw first" which is reportedly what Russell likes, but I also think Russell doesnt like having a strong bossPayton is on record that Parcells is his mentor, and he still talks to him all the time. In retrospect, it’s part of why the Saints fell apart. Payton controlled everything, from meals to hotels to uniforms, flights, everything. He’s THAT guy. Strong disagree that Payton is “throw first”. Outside of the three middling 7-9 seasons several years ago, he is a run first, play action, strong defense guy. His best teams always had a two or three RB rotation. Brees just made it seem like he was pass happy. but will he be more throw first than Carroll? Thats all I was suggesting, and Pete wants to run the ball 50 times a game. but you would know him better than me, for sure
  2. Is Payton's personality at all like Parcells'? I believe he coached under Bill when he was the Dallas HC, I wonder if he has any of the "dictator" type personality that Parcells had (use your own best work to describe him, that's the first thing that came to mind) 100% yes. that'll be an interesting working relationship given Russells strained relationship with Pete Carroll. 3. Obviously Anderson is a terrific prospect, but it's also supposed a deep DE class, with plenty of early round talent. No saying how Poles will grade Anderson or Carter next to the other DL who will be available. But yea, if they stay at 1 or 2 to ensure their top choice, I won't be upset. I'd love to pickup that extra 2024 FRP, but theres no guarantee such opportunities will even present themselves. Yeah, I think I'm the opposite of UK. I think Anderson is the better prospect of the 2, but I almost prefer Carter based on how good this DE class is. Like just completely get a dominant potential interior w/ Payne and Carter. DE, you can hit in the 2nd (or 1st pick of the 3rd) and I like quite a few players there. Might not get a true stud, but if you do everything else right, you can go into 2024 and get a top edge rusher then and the guy you pick this year is a solid starter or depth. Plus, they should be adding a DE in free agency as well. Yea, 2006 Bears did it with Tommie and a bunch of good/decent ends, no true super hero

I'd be pretty upset if they stay at #1 If they stay at 1 I'd assume it's because they didn't get any decent trade offers
  5. nvm...my own insomnia is kicking in. its going around, must be tax season
  6. Who TF was positing that he became the guy yesterday? Greg Gabriel?
  7. Wooooooaaa doggie, let the bidd'n start
  8. I will be royally pissed if we do not sign Payne if he's available. Clear need, young proven stud, lots of space. Guys like him don't hit the market more often than not. Can't afford to punt two offseasons in a row on some absurd value principle. It's not absurd at all. And there will be 30 other teams trying to sign him. It makes no sense to be pissed off if Payne decides to pick Miami over playing over Chicago or something. Just setting yourself up to be disappointed. But yeah, I explained the value thing. I don't think you are clear on what I am saying. Value does not mean, cheap. To me, value = a convoy of dump trucks full of cash and Poles singing "I love you truly" at Paynes front door would be a good start
  9. This is what gets me, even if he wants to be frugal, poles has to spend. Might as well throw money at a premium player who plays a premium position
  10. Someone summed it up in the Reddit comments. Fields loves to throw the ball deep and has the exact opposite roster he needs around him to play to his strengths. LOL. The OL can't hold up long enough for him to get the ball down the field effectively. He also threw the fewest number of tight window throws according to Next Gen Stats. So that basically means either guys aren't separating enough or he isn't anticipating well enough....which both are true. The tight window stuff, I don't really care about. If he doesn't want to throw into tight windows too much, then get guys that are better at getting open. But they really gotta protect him going forward. Heavy resources need to go into the OL this offseason. You can survive with Mooney, Claypool and whatever, but you gotta be able to execute a simple 3-5 step drop back passes. yea, their inability to do that gives me hope that Claypool/Mooney/whoever/Kmet can be a good corps in time. its so hard to tell when the dt is 2' from Fields face in less then 2 seconds
  11. love the Hoke hire, Lovie guy, knows the Tampa 2 and has had success here in it
  12. A former exec who sucked at his job yet holds himself in high regard I mean, even with the fact he sucked, he talks about his experience like he was just in the league. He got canned in 2010. Like his tidbits might have some anecdotal value, but it's not like he was a former GM. That's what I couldn't place. I googled him today and a linked in page came up suggesting he was still director of college scouting or some horsefeathers, but I didn't think he was. It was at work, so I didn't save the link...and now I can't find it again. Regardless, I clearly get the animosity now
  13. why do we hate Greg Gabriel again?
  14. does this go here or in the "me too" thread? https://www.cnn.com/2023/02/01/sport/philadelphia-eagles-player-rape-charges-spt-intl/index.html
  15. That's also a trade the raiders could give up for Rodgers
  16. In this scenario using the #7 pick on a LB should be a firing offense. I would agree, but I'm more excited about 3 1st rd picks + + + + that trade would set the Bears up nicely for years
  17. I really like Harry, but there's a reason I don't want him back. The Bears are already bringing back Mooney, Claypool, Velus Jones and St. Brown. Harry would be the 5th WR on a roster that usually carries 6. I know they carried 7 a lot of this year, and they could cut Jones, St. Brown and/or Harry for minimal dead cap, but I'd hate for them to get rid of Jones so quickly after flashes in the 2nd half, and obviously cheap rookie deal and great speed. St. Brown they obviously value by locking him up before the season ended. So, that limits the number of spots you have to truly upgrade the WR position. I just don't see much of a path to improvement if you bring back 5 of the 7 players on a bottom 5 WR depth chart in the league. The FA market is soft on WR's this year, right? If so bring back Harry and draft one. Spend more picks/cap money on protecting Fields up front and let's see what he can do with this group. Then maybe we can make a bigger splash at WR next offseason. Just spitballing here off the top of my head. Sure. And if you p/up Pittman or whoever in a trade, it helps your cause overall.
  18. That, there ladies and gents could be the #1 tank roster of all time
  19. Bosa (either one) was not an obvious home run I have to admit, I might be wrong about Anderson. David pointed out that Carter was drawing "Darnold" comparisons and last season, Carter was clearly stronger than Anderson. How far would the Bers drop before you would feel comfortable still getting Carter?
  20. I may be in the minority, but i wanted the Bills to win bah
  21. Propane is stupid and useless and imparts no flavor. I have a Weber kettle and a kamado and it takes me maybe 5 minutes longer to be cooking on the Weber than it does on a gas grill. I ditched my gas grill and went straight Weber kettle, I've never regretted that. Oysters are easier on gas but man does charcoal open up their flavor, steaks too. But truly the best nachos are via cast iron and wood fire I'm closing, cooking set ups can very greatly on your food choice. Experiment, but choose wisely
  22. its clearly a sign from JF: beef up cuz I'm getting blasted straight up the middle, beotch
