  1. Actually the 49ers have lost four in a row and 5 of 6. Both teams are down but given the 49ers where at home this week and thus the short weekend won't affect them as much I think the 49ers will win. Also, the 49ers have led 4/5's of the time against the Titans and Colts the last two weeks and I think they will probably finally give the ball to Gore instead of acting like Martz is still the OC.
  2. The front 7 don't have to stay out to make screens a bad idea, they just have to realize that the quarterback still has the ball and it might be a good idea for some of them who aren't next to the QB to stay near the RB or whoever. In other news, the Bengals and Cardinals called about one screen against the Bears, a team that couldn't get anyone near the QB. You'd think the Bears defensive line and the Packers offensive line would be instantly converted into pure energy when they came into contact, they're that perfectly matched as crappy opposites. Hence they get no penetration and are still sitting at the line of scrimmage when you try to screen pass. The key to a good screen is allowing the d-line to penetrate but not far enough to get a sack.
  3. Did they like it? Did they use that big wiener from your sig?
  4. Hahaha one of my favorite schools. A school named after a state that is not in that state. On top of that it's not even a bordering state. I remember first learning about that when I was a kid and thinking it was funny. I use it as a trivia question sometimes. It's named that because the college is located in the city of Indiana. Nevermind then. Always assumed it was an campus for IU. Still find it funny though. Why would you name a city after a state that the city isn't in and then name the college the exact same as a major school in the state the city is named after? Probably because Indiana the city is older than Indiana the state. Never thought of that. When was the city founded?
  5. :rotfl: The dude has no arm and is no longer got anything other than average speed. He's essentially a Jim Edmonds without the quick reads and strong arm. In other words he is not a good CF. I think he's still serviceable in center. Maybe not great, but he's passable. And like I said... we play in a ballpark that doesn't have much square footage in center. He simply is not.
  6. Purdue finally beats OSU and Michigan in the same season (very rare but I think done before) and yet are one loss away from being ineligible for a bowl game.
  7. And they are successful because they run them scarce enough the defense doesn't expect it. All it takes is one defender on that side of the field to see it coming and its blown up. You have to run it when the defense won't expect it. If you do it 10-15 times a game teams are going to expect it.

  9. Congrats Dew. I'm officially completely and utterly fed up with the 49ers offense. Frank Gore is averaging 6.2 yards a carry the last two games yet has only got 14 rushes per game. WTF!?! What happened to the smack you in the mouth style offense Singletary? What's even more frustrating is we have led both the Titans and Colts the entire game heading into the fourth quarter. Also the Colts suck against power running. I am completely confused.

  11. Brooks has played 7 games this year, lets see if he can keep this pace up a bit first. Of course, I'm just saying.
  12. Thanks for taking the week off against the Cardinals. Yeesh! Now watch the Bears will play their best game of the season next week.
  13. hahaha yeah he's somewhat of a Kramer. If he's on your team you love him, if not you hate him. He whines a lot and does a lot of borderline dirty stuff. Sometimes his whining goes overboard and I get annoyed with it. In the playoffs last year he got on my nerves because he was complaining about something on every play. i actually love him and landry, but not when we go against them. actually, with mcgrady in a suit, the rockets have a pretty likable team. I love aaron brooks far too much. Brooks is my favorite and our best PG since ... ever. He is a lot of fun to watch. I would say he is hands down the quickest player in the league. Steve Francis was way better than Aaron Brooks when he first got to Houston. True. Stevie Franchise was why I stayed a Rocket fan after Barkley retired. Up until that point I had always rooted for whatever team Barkley was on. Although Rockets fans and fans in general used to argue whether Francis was really a PG who a just a SG who handled the ball a lot. KInda of like when AI started getting called a PG. And the difference isn't as great as you would think (surprised me when I looked it up). Francis averaged 21 pts in 41 minutes in his peak years to go with almost 7 assists. Brooks is averaging 18.3 and 7.7 in 36.7 minutes. Take that rate to the 41 minutes Francis played and you get 20.4 pts and 8.6 assists. Plus Francis shot in the low to mid 40's while Brooks is shooting .488.
  14. By the way I'm pissed at myself for not remembering to pick up Ben Sheets. I drafted him and eventually dropped him half way through the season. I kept reminding myself to pick him back up so I could have him as a keeper at no cost but then when I was eliminated I forgot to go get him.

  17. It also helps a lot that teams are drawn out of position by Brooks a lot. I've watched 3 of the games so far and Brooks will essentially flash into the lane blowing past his guy. If the defense slides over he dishes, if it doesn't he makes a running hook shot that he is really good at. A lot of times the defense slides over and guys like Ariza are left open.
  18. I normally never would but this would have been one of the rare occasions. They overturned it but if it had stood it would have been two times in that possession that Purdue should have gotten the ball and didn't. When that happens this late in a one possession game the blame should be put heavily on the refs.
  19. Yeah, absolutely horrible call. Pretty tough for the refs though since Hemingway fell down near the Purdue player. Of course, he just tripped over his own feet. And the refs are trying to screw Purdue again. That ball went forward a good half yard. If Purdue loses its on the refs.
  20. There's no doubt in my mind that Ariza is going to put up better numbers this year than Artest but that doesn't mean he's the better pickup. I'm not saying he isn't but with McGrady and Yao out, Ariza is one of the first two or three options on that ream when he would normally be No. 4 or 5. Artest doesn't need to score with the Lakers. He'll have games where he'll get 20-30, but with Kobe, Pau (when he returns), Odom and Bynum, Artest isn't going to be a 20 point scorer and might not be a 15 point scorer. I can agree with that. I guess I mean Ariza is a much better fit for a depleted Rockets team than Artest would have been. One thing I know for sure based on what I have seen is Ariza is better at making his own shot. Artest in order to create has to hold the ball for 20 seconds. Ariza moves very well without the ball and is pretty quick (surprised me) for his size so he is able to drive pretty well. Artest is all power but is slow enough that he never burns a guy. His drives always end with him trying to power through for the basket.

  22. I don't know why but this just doesn't really matter to me. I love Sammy and he is the reason I became a Cubs fan but my reaction to this is just eh.
  23. I'm a bit confused by it too. I think it must be Painter thinks the guy fits his system so it doesn't matter if he isn't rated that high. This is my only complaint about Painter and it doesn't really bother me. I just wish he would go after more big name players. I think he can get them, especially right now with the team ranked so high. I think he is concentrating a little too much on Indiana talent. I'm fearful he will become what Gene Keady was. A guy who over the course of a season can put up a great performance but rarely can go on big win streaks and doesn't have the top level talent he needs to make Final Fours. I think Painter is capable of getting two or three top 100 recruits every year but he seems content to get the Indiana players in the 100-250 range that fit his system.
  24. You're being too modest with those 3 easy ones. Those are 3 "cannot possibly lose or else hell freezes over" games. Packers should make each of those teams look like college-level opponents. Seattle's trickier than the other two. They still have the ability to score on anyone. They just don't execute well pretty much every game.
  25. I would think people would hate Kramer more than Cardinal. Kramer whines a helluva lot more. Cardinal flopped, dove, etc., but he didn't piss and moan nearly as much when calls didn't go his way. Cardinal never faked getting elbowed in the face to get a player ejected either. While I completely agree that Kramer flopped big time on that play, he obviously did get hit (unless you want to make the case that the blood was caused from him hitting the floor). However, watching his reaction, you'd have thought he got shot. I have no problem with the hustle or trying to sell a call here and there. It's the constant whining when he doesn't get calls that bugs the crap out of me...even as a Purdue fan. And the fact that he ALWAYS handchecks and never gets called for it. Hahaha like I said I would hate him if he was on any other team but mine.
