  1. Seems like a no brainer to me but it doesn't look like. I like how my brother put though. He said that while role players in the moment of a championship say they wouldn't trade, almost all of them would want a Barkley type career 10 years later. One way to look at it is a role player will be all but forgotten a decade later while a HOFer won't be. How little was Kerr talked about after his retirement and prior to his GM duties? And he is perhaps the most memorable role player of all-time (interesting debate).
  2. No it was more of a rant about being surprised Kerr said he would rather have Nash's career. Now a bunch of my friends are saying they would rather have Kerr's. So everyone knows what kind of career each has had ... Kerr won 5 championships, started only 30 times in his career (out of 910 games), averaged 18 minutes a game, 6 points and nothing else over 2 and his career high was 8.6 points a game. Nash has started in 783 of his 942 games, averaged 31 minutes a game, 14.4 points, 8.1 assists, won two MVP's, made six all-star teams, will finish somewhere between 2nd and 9th in career assists and has never won an NBA championship nor conference championship.
  3. So PTI debated which career you would rather have Steve Kerr or Steve Nash. Kerr was asked and said Nash. I was surprised to hear both PTI guys say they were surprised by Kerr's statement. They said they thought winning was always what a player wanted most. To me that was dead wrong. What a player wants most is to play. Kerr barely played and was never anything other than a bench 3-pt shooter. Meanwhile Nash has been a starter his whole career and has won two MVP's. As a player I want to win but if you gave me the choice of playing 40 minutes and losing or 5 minutes and winning I'll take the first one. Anyways I made it my facebook status and already two friends have said they would rather be Kerr (Andy was one of them). I'm curious as to what this board thinks. I would think Nash will win easily but I could very well be wrong. Oh and Bulls fans don't be biased and ruin the poll :P
  4. That reminds me does anyone know of a place that does a stat for balls caught that a player with an estimated average speed would not get to? I highly doubt it as its a very hard stat to do and is going to subjective to a degree but I've always wanted to see how many more outs are recorded by a guy with Crawford's speed. Or maybe a place that creates a graph for the estimated feet traveled for each catch made. That would have the same affect. Speed isn't the only thing that decides how far you travel to make a catch. Yes I realize that. It would still be interesting to see who has the highest amount of ball caught having to go a long distance to get. A distance that most players couldn't get to consistently.
  5. Just voted and looks like I'm the first one. I'll get some more votes on there (by myself and friends) although it looks like unless Vance does what he does The Captain's Deck will be winning.
  6. I would trade the farm for Votto. If he can't play OF for a season then trade Lee. Votto is an elite hitter. Got power, avg and patience.

  8. Although I'll admit that I've done my share of cheering against Kyle Orton this year, nothing that happens can change my view that trading for Cutler was absolutely the right move for the Bears. Orton pretty much had me convinced he was the Bears' franchise QB last year after his hot start, until he crushed my hopes in the second half of the season. He just doesn't have much zip on his throws, and although he is fairly accurate, his ceiling can only go so high with his subpar arm. He is basically a poor man's Chad Pennington. Bears are probably 2-6 if Orton is QB this year, especially considering how much worse the o-line is. That is a very bad comparison. Orton has a much stronger arm than Pennington (not hard) but isn't nearly as accurate (no is as accurate as Pennington).
  9. Maybe, but if Taj Gibson turns out to be a Horace Grant type player for the Bulls, then I'm pleased with the deal. I'm glad he's doing good for you guys, but I'm not nor the Bulls losing any sleep over trading Thabo. You guys just have to hope that he isn't Trenton Hassell part 2. he'll only be a starter for this year and maybe next year, after that harden is going to take over. Harden has looked really good so far. His downfall was supposed to be on the defensive end but so far i haven't seen anything but good defense from him. also, harden just hit a half-court shot. So far this game? I hope you're not talking for the year because 5 pts and 3 assists on 35% shooting is by no means "looked rally good so far." I think he's going to be good but he hasn't been able to hit his shot so far.
  10. That joke is what three years too late.
  11. Umm we have a very young roster that is already performing. The PG position is locked up for the future with Brooks, SF in Ariza and PF in Scola and Landry. That's 3 of 5 positions. We will have as much cap space as anyone with McGrady and Yao coming off the books next season. If we keep Yao we are set at 4 of 5 positions with roughly 20 mil from McGrady going away to spend on getting a great SG. The part that pissed me off though is that they mentioned Ariza and Brooks and then said no one expects them to become stars. Umm one is averaging 19 pts 8 assists and the other is averaging 20-4-4. Brooks was a first round pick that many teams thought could turn into a great player but were scared off by his height. Ariza is a lengthy, talented player that a lot of experts have said can turn into a star. Given Yao's size, lengthy injury history and age, you can't possibly say you're ever set at center with him on the roster. Also, be careful to claim either Ariza or Brooks are stars based on a small sample of less than 10 games. Wasn't saying they are stars. I'm saying that for someone to say that no one expects them ro be stars is incredibly idiotic considering they are currently performing like stars and one of them was a 1st round pick.
  12. ESPN Future Power Rankings are out and as expected are wrong. Here's what they said about Houston. Umm we have a very young roster that is already performing. 13. Didn't realize Teixiera was that good of a defender. Or is this the Yankees were great during the season so let's give Jeter a GG and one other prominent Yankee.
  14. Whether you got sat next to each other because of alphabetical order or complete randomness doesn't change it from irony. The only way it could change from irony is if the person who decided who sat where put them next to each because they were ex's. If I'm understanding the usage correctly (not entirely sure with the way they wrote it) Webster's is saying nauseous can be used instead of nauseated as long as the word feel or become is also used. Now as for the original situation I agree it wasn't irony.
  15. Might want to update your knowledge on Smith some. He's by no means a good QB but he isn't complete crap either. His shoulder is finally healthy and he is no longer indecisive. His QB rating is almost identical to Cutler's (not that QB rating is that valuable). You cannot be serious. Comparing Smith's 2009 QB rating to Cutler's? Smith has thrown a whole 99 passes this year. If you want to compare QB ratings, lets compare Cutler's 86.4 career rating to Smith's 65.7. Injuries cannot be used as an excuse either. This is football, everyone has aches and pains. I understand you defending players on your favorite team, but you should try to be realistic and non-biased. Wasn't saying he is as good as Cutler. I'm just pointing out that while he was really bad he has showed that he is no longer that awful QB. Oh and you sure as hell can talk about injuries when its a QB who had to have surguries on his throwing shoulder. He was stupid, as was the coaches to allow it, and tried to play through the injury when it was actually serious. It cost him for years and it has finally this offseason gotten back to full strength. On top of that his sitting has allowed him to adjust to the NFL finally. This time last year he almost retired. Partially due to his shoulder and partially because his best friend committed suicide and he was lost in grief because the friend tried to call him just before he did it and Smith didn't answer.
  16. Figured Dew as well as others would find these two "Goal Posts" points from 49ers.com interesting.
  17. It was cool but thought they should have mixed in some plays from Singletary.
  18. I guess they could have continued to try to force the ball to Gore in the Colts game, but the reason they went away from it is because after the big run in the first quarter, he was getting stuffed. Here are the rest of his runs for the day: -1, 3, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, -1, 3, 7 The big run inflated his stats, but the running game wasn't really moving the chains whatsoever in that game. They did try to line up and just run it on both 1st and 2nd down in 2 different drives and it led to 3rd and long both times and then 3 and outs. So I agree with you a little bit (they probably should have tried 3-4 more runs during the course of the game) but I can't blame them too much because getting 2 yards a run is not going to get many drives started and Smith was throwing the ball well. I'm not sure what happened this week though. Yeah I wasn't frustrated in the first half when they went away from the run when it stopped working. I was frustrated in the second half when they continued to pass on first, second and third down. They didn't move the ball in the second half, mainly because Indy started dropping back, and never went back to the run. That is just dumb. They should be stubborn with the run because it sets up everything else. Singletary said they would do just that and yet they haven't for weeks. Essentially the 49ers offense will come out doing one thing and when it stops working will switch to the other but then never adjust the rest of the game regardless of what happens.
  19. I would say he is probably the most complete player in the nation.
  20. Might want to update your knowledge on Smith some. He's by no means a good QB but he isn't complete crap either. His shoulder is finally healthy and he is no longer indecisive. His QB rating is almost identical to Cutler's (not that QB rating is that valuable).
  21. Good way to think about it. If we can trade Bradley without taking on much salary I'm for it. We can then use that money to go and get a player as good as Bradley without the headache.
  22. Hahaha one of my favorite schools. A school named after a state that is not in that state. On top of that it's not even a bordering state. I remember first learning about that when I was a kid and thinking it was funny. I use it as a trivia question sometimes. how do you use it as a trivia question sometimes? What is the farthest east IU campus? I guess my answer is still technically true just highly misleading.
  23. I didn't get to see the game but my brother told me about that option play. Supposedly there were four 49ers in position and CJ made some cut and ran past them all. As I told my brother I don't understand what the 49ers were thinking defensively (or offensively). All week I was reading quotes from Singletary about how they were doing things in practice to make sure they would contain VY and keep him from running. Why were they concentrating on VY? CJ is dominating. They should have come in with a plan to stack the box to stop the run and made VY beat them through the air. This loss is on the coaches.
