  1. Derrick Rose's points, assists, rebounds, shooting percentage are all down while his turnovers are up. I'm so glad I used a high draft pick on him for my fantasy team. BTW I never realized how bad of a 3-pt shooter he was. Got to get much better at that if he ever wants to be great. Teams can just slack off and make sure he doesn't drive.
  2. Hmm being the No. 2 is completely different than what you said so yes. Playoffs, assuming we make it, would be the big issue and is also the time I wouldn't want any issues.
  3. Carolina was -3.5 I believe, so only if Carolina scores another TD. And why didn't Miami take the 15 yards on the conversion? Right, but if they had gone for the single point another TD wouldn't have covered without a 2 pointer. So what you meant to say is that the 2-pt conversion could be a giant play?
  4. With what he did this year I don't think he will be willing to be a No. 5 nor take an overly cheap contract and Pedro is a situation he doesn't like is not something I want to go through.
  5. Anyway I think it will interesting to see what happens if Paul is shopped. I would bet one of the teams that has been building for this next offseason would pull the trigger give up a crap ton to guarantee they get an elite player.
  6. There's no doubt, although the fact that they didn't say "no" right away is odd. Rule V is clear: referee's decisions on the field are not subject to any sort of anything after the fact. Do you know the background/details of the 2005 match that was replayed? A PK was awarded improperly; the situations were different in that the ref in the 2005 match just plain didn't know the proper rule and his screwup of interpretation. This one comes down to the ref missing (4) calls on one play. EDIT: That ref was also one of the most incompetent in history; that game was riddled with poor decisions, and Bahrain had some heft within FIFA. The FIA's appeal seemingly relies less on the rule and more on the "Fair Play" aspect; it also helps, imo, that Henry admitted he told the ref and the ref disregarded it. The only way a replay happens is if public pressure just absolutely overwhelms Blatter and FIFA. Even the French media and other French outlets and organizations are blasting the refs and the outcome, so that helps, but as Wolf mentioned, Platini probably doesn't give an ish. To be fair if the ref called it back Henry would have probably denied telling the ref. I don't think he would admit to being the reason the ref called it back. If Henry were to deny it the ref would be in a bad situation. Although if I was the ref I would rather know I made the right call in the end then stay with one I know to be wrong.
  7. http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/english-idioms-sayings/90541-mine-well.html http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/english/212/mine/ http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060922140435AAL3M8S Like I said it's not widely used but it is in fact used. I picked it up from somewhere (always said it that way so I don't know where it came from). Is it wrong. Yes. Are there many phrases commonly misspoken in this country, hell yes. This one isn't very common but I'm guessing it has to do with the "Hoosier" accent since I most likely picked it up from my dad. He mispronounces many things and when I correct him he always says he was speaking "Hoosier."
  8. They are going to be bottom of the Big Ten until they have a couple of people (at least 1?) who can defend the 4 and 5 positions. Tom Pritchard and Tijan Jobe aren't doing it for me. I don't understand how they couldn't recruit 1 decent big man for next year. The position is wide open. To me, that's failure. How many years are we giving Crean to build the team? More than one. I hate IU and would love nothing more than him to fail but I will admit he is doing a good job. He got the team to be competitive last year in games which is more than was expected. He is signing pretty good classes for a program that was completely obliterated. It's hard to sign great players when you have none and the team is coming off its worst year. Most recruits aren't the brightest and aren't going to be thinking about 3 or 4 years from now. They don't want to go to a team that is already losing and has a higher chance to continue losing for a couple more years compared to the other teams recruiting them. I expect that with the players he is signing he will be able to be at least above .500 and a strong NIT team next season. Once they are winning he will be able to get top tier recruits.
  9. Aren't you a writer or trying to be one? Yes I am but not for a message board. And mineaswell is used in both spoken and written forms (not widely). Its one of those things like y'all. I have always spoken it that way and tend to write it that way. When I'm writing for my job I have a have a completely different mindset and are much more critical of the words I chose. On a message board I don't do much editing. I also can't foresee any story that I would need to use mineaswell/might as well.
  10. Wade is easily better than Durant. Durant's great but let's not draw sweeping conclusions from one game shall we? KD is also an absolutely horrific defender too. Although from what I've seen of him so far this year he's gone from historically awful to merely terrible. He still needs a ton of work in that area. what i was saying is i would rather have the 21 year old, 4 million dollar a year kevin durant over a 27 year old 15 million dollar a year wade. Even if you put wade over durant he's not that much better to where he makes up for being six years older and getting paid over 10 mil a year more. Just for refrence, when wade was 21 he was averaging 16 ppg, durant is averaging 28. also, it's not like durant is about to turn 22, he turned 21 about a month ago. If someone was starting a team and was guaranteed to keep a player for the length of his career, all players played until they were 35, et al; Most people would take lebron then durant Durant will be pulling in one of the highest salaries in the league as soon as his rookie deal is done. I see what you're saying about youth and potential and all of that and I don't necessarily disagree. I was just saying it's pretty silly to all of a sudden change your mind about Durant vs. Wade because Thabo stopped him in one game. As for the who would you take to build a team around argument...I would dispute that. Durant would get some votes here and there but most would take Howard and Paul I think (after Lebron of course). yeah, you're right about howard and paul. I didn't think about guys like them, i was just thinking scorers On a side note about paul and the hornets, i'm so glad the nba didn't let us keep them now. Ever since they left okc they've been going downhill fast. It sucks to be a hornets fan right now. They look like they're going to miss the playoffs and i know that they won't ever trade paul because he is their franchise, but i don't see any reason for paul to stay when he becomes a free agent. Paul said he loved OKC while he was here, bring him in presti! Durant and Paul :beg: =P~ :yahoo: lol That is almost definitely wrong. He's not their franchise because they know he won't be staying. He's supposedly not very interested in talking extension. Last season just before the trade deadline the Hornets supposedly (according to a Rockets employee who posts anonymously on clutchfans.net) came close to trading Paul in a huge deal that included Landry/Brooks and some expiring contracts and draft picks. The guy said they decided not to right at the deadline because they 1) didn't want to trade in division 2) wanted to try and talk to Paul again. With Scott fired and Paul pissed about it the Hornets know he is definitely gone so they mineaswell get something for him.
  11. Or start from the time Ireland scored.
  12. Based on their bodies of work so far, I firmly believe that future civilizations will dig up all the draft magazines that debated "Russell or Quinn?" before the 2007 draft and conclude that our society was primitive and stupid. All societies of the past are primitive compared today. As long as our society continues to advance (rather than regress) that will remain true. I'm guessing at some point many years from know people will look back on our sports today and wonder why we cared so much about something that had nothing to do with us.
  13. I used to think FIFA was great. I get more and more convinced every year that they rig some games (not an abundance of games but enough to be noticed).
  14. Actually, I kind of care. It's mildly interesting to me that Smith was played very early in his career and is struggling, and Rodgers sat the bench for a couple years and is doing well. I don't think there's one solution to the question of whether you should play your young QB or not. But every time a QB is played early and succeeds, you hear stuff about how that is the way to go. But I don't think that's always the best way, depending on the player. Rodgers sat and learned, and it seems to have benefitted him. Each player is different and should be treated as so and the sooner people realize that the better. There is no one way to handle a player. Whether he is a QB, RB or whatever.
  15. Our defense does match up well against you guys. We should completely shut down the run game and we get good pressure so Rodgers should be hurried a lot. It's probably going to be another ugly game at Lambeau, much like the game against Dallas. We'll see. I think it will come down to who can run the ball better (both teams in top 5 in rushing D) and whether or not Smith is effective in passing. Our passing defense ranks as one of the worst but it is misleading. We have the third most attempts against us, have only allowed 9 TD's (6th best), and have faced some of the best passing teams (Arizona, Houston, Indy, Minnesota). The QB's we have faced are Warner, Hasselbeck, Favre, Bulger, Ryan, Schaub, Manning, VY and Cutler. All but VY and Bulger all are still considered among the leagues best.
  16. A starter is likely out for season before we can even get into the season. Awesome.

  18. Brady just wants more time with his hands under center. Homophobia is fun for the whole family. I'll take your word for it.
  19. You are not alone IMB I didn't know him either. Never even seen his name before. Now that I have looked up his stats I am ashamed to have not known him.
  20. Brady just wants more time with his hands under center.
  21. That guy is really stupid. For one he calculates the results and hey going for it was the better choice. Then he says football is played on the field as if saying playing the percentages is stupid. Umm yeah you go ahead and do what makes you more likely to lose and I'll go with what's more likely to win. Plus going for it is saying my offense can beat your defense i.e. he was deciding the game on the field.
  22. He had a good half season in Tampa. But anyways I wasn't saying he ever looked good. Was just saying Denver is screwed if Simms has to play for a week or two.
  23. Especially if Orton is out for awhile. Simms didn't look good.
  24. Rockets won on the road against the Lakers tonight. :yahoo: Budinger had the highest plus/minus at +17. Battier surprisingly was -15.
  25. uhh they would have won if they got the first down They could not have taken knees to win there. the game would have still been over
