  1. Considering both are having career years at 36 years old, I can't see both Fraklin and Miller continuing the 2009 success beyond this yr, especially if Duncan leaves as some thing he might.
  2. Castro hasn't exactly had a great time with the defense, committing 50 errors in 157 games at SS Derek Jeter once had 56 errors in 162 games at Greensboro in 1993, and look at how he turned out. Not comparing the two, mind you, just saying.
  3. If Castro projects as a SS, and everybody who sees Theriot knows he isn't a long-term short with his no range and no arm, but wouldn't it make sense tomove Theriot over to 2B and give Castro the shot at SS? It worked (or in the process of working) with the Rangers moving the established but the inferior player of the position to a new position? If Young can move to 3rd, then Theriot should be able to move to 2b.
  4. (Jay Cutler impersonating Horation Crane) And that is why.........I have a score to settle.
  5. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/huddleup/2009/08/chicago-bears-waiveinjured-nose-tackle-dusty-dvoracek-cut-three-others.html Dusty has been waived. :(
  6. The way I interpret that is that Rosenthal is stated that as an opinion rather then basing it off quotes from sources. I have a hard time believing that a major league team would let an ar like Harden go for nothing. And seeing as the Cubs didn't trade Harden today, it leads me to believe they will try to re-sign Rich in the offseason. As for why Hendry can let go of one of his pet projects in Heilman, I have no clue. I'm not surprise, but like Miles, Heilman is an Aaron that doesn't belong on the Cubs.
  7. That almost guarantees they'll go out after a QB. I saw Tyler Thigpen brought up somewhere, that seems like a really good idea to backup Brady. I thought the Patriots signed Andrew Walter a couple of weeks back? :-k
  8. Yes and the comparison to Corey is silly. Upton averages 70 walks a season. I don't think Corey could get 70 walks in a season where in he started every AB 3-0. The real question on Upton will he ever consistently develop that power he flashed in 2007. I think the fact that he is only 25 to me is worth the gamble.
  9. Glee!!! Wrong thread, that goes into the TV Thread..... ;) j/k
  10. LOL a bit overconfident aren't we? In case you haven't noticed, Vegas has the Packers as the favorites. Right now there is NOT a clear favorite in the NFC North. I would put the Bears/Vikings/Packers are even keel, no matter the caliber of play in preseason. Even more proof that the Bears will "smash the pack" is nothing but a sign of overconfidence. That is ONE fan's opinion. I actually think it will be an old-school battle between the Bears and the Packers.
  11. Exactly. However, god forbid a fan favorite get benched for crappy play. My goodness. When Baker get back he should get the same promotion that Hill got. Fontenot has been as crappy this yr a Soto, thus he should be relegated to the bench like Soto.

  13. This is a wake up call from the Cubs manageent to Soto. Nothing more, nothing less.
  14. I'm not usually to hyped about a preseason because preseason games are gloridied scrimmages, but considering certain signs and how certain people were dressed (ie diapers and a pacifier) I really hope Cutler sticks it to the Broncos on the field. I really hope Cutler and the Bears clearly out plays the Broncos. I know preseason games mean nothing but I would love nothing more then watching McDaniels and Broncos fans---who hates on Cutler---to cry about what could have been. Here's to a good game, Cutler.
  15. I would not mind BJ Upton at all. I know there are flaws with BJ, but the man is still only 25 yrs old, so it's not out of the realm for it to click and he realizes his potential. BJ seems to me to be the kind of player who needs a chang eof scenery. And the Cubs have talked about getting younger and more athlethic, and that fit BJ to a t. But again it would come down to what TB would want for Upton.
  16. I personally don't get the hostility when people like Phil Rogers suggest we trade him. I hate Rogers, but at this point I think if we could get decent value for Z we'd be foolish not to pull the trigger. Absolutely. Zambrano is a 2/3 disguised as an ace, and I wouldn't cry if the Cubs dealt Zambrano.
  17. That is if you believe the Mets bullpen can actually hold a lead, which I don't. Z isn't done giving them a lead either. True, but I don't see the Mets holding the lead.

  19. Bradley for Cordero? What's next Ramirez for Homer Bailey? Fukudome for Chris Dickerson? No thank you on Cordero.
  20. Ridiculous. I'd much rather take either the two picks or have Harden stick around for at least another year from accepting arbitration instead of trading him to the Twins just for the sake of trading him. If they offer a great package that is better than two picks, sure, then by all means go for it. Agreed. And like O_O suggestion I would mind either Hicks or Revere as part of the package. The Cubs should not have to give Harden up to the Twins just because Minnesota wants to placate the two franchise players.
  21. chuck, you honestly thought I would say just Harden go? :D No man, I am in favor of re-signing Harden unless they---the Cubs---can get an offer they can't refuse.
  22. I just hope for the Packers fans sake that the GB isn't peaking in preseason football.
  23. all i care about them is losing at least 3 games in their first playoff series or at least four in the next one. That goes without say, TS, but I want them to have as bad of a September as they had as good of a August.
  24. Not so much a salary dump as a reallocation of their limited monetary means. I think they are going to take the money from Kazmir and put it into re-signing Crawford.
