  1. Agreed. If you want another way to determine who to ban, just wait until the next time the Brewers lose 2 games in a row and see who is still posting here. Ban the rest. Same here. We've a newly minted mod, who has an itchy trigger finger, so...........
  2. I don't think it's the losses that bother us per say (not that there's any such thing as a good loss), but rather the fashion in which they're losing, the team/pitchers they're losing to and the worrisome performances that are contributing to the losses, performances that could be precursors to extended problems. Exactly. I know the Cubs are better then the Brewers/Cards, but the fact that they are playing like the Padres is what concerns. 17+ innings, they've score 2 runs on such "legendary" pitcher like Moehler and Rodriguez. That is concerning to me.
  3. Oh good, I see the 2006 Cobs are back. Losing to Wandy Rodriguez (forget the home/road splits) and Brian Moehler on back to back days, following ASB is pretty PATHETHIC. And the two runs the Cubs have scored, are by a 37 yr old CF who is walking on borrow time as a MLer, and Zambrano. Cool man. I so glad the ASB gave the guys a chance to catch their breathe.... I kinda hope Lou lays into them after the game. Nothing public, but go all Crazy Lou on them, because they need a gigantic kick in the butt. Losing two games to one of the worst teams in the NL is statement of embarrassment.
  4. While Wandy is tough at home, but I have a hunch the Cubs are going to rough up Rodriguez. 7-1, Cubs.
  5. No necessarily. I still believe Hendry is a very good baseball guy, and I believe he has earn the right to keep his job, to be honest.
  6. Not really, but keep thinking that. Losing to the last place team in the division ALWAYS sucks. Neither team "deserved" this game, but of course the team with the last at-bat will get the win. Come out tomorrow and kick the Astos butts, Cubs. You need to take control of the divison. I think the Cubs deserved it less with only 5 baserunners all game and absolutely not a single baserunner past the 5th inning. Perhaps, the Astros had more baserunners, and they only score 2 runs all night. So, while I do agree the Cubs prolly "deserve" this loss, by no means did Astros earn this win. I am pretty confident the Cubs will win the next two games. and take the series.

  8. From the descriptions of the flyballs in this game up to this point, if the Cubs hitters would simply pull the ball and take to RF, then this game should be something like 5-1, or so. But the problem I see with the Cubs, according to people who are watching the game, is that the Cubs are trying to hit it to CF. And the Cubs will win this game.
  9. http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/263 I'd love him here for nothing other than the picks, not to even mention his performance. Not sure what i'd want to give up though, and they are supposed to be looking for alot due to the picks. Maybe they would be high on Colvin for some reason (wishful thinking)? Maybe the Cubs could sell the Rockies on Colvin being a young, cheaper Brad Hawpe?
  10. Novoa hasn't been in the organization since the end of last season. He's at Triple-A Norfolk (Baltimore) right now. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_430604.jpg He still looks like a lizard, though. I understand that, but I was making a joke about Jose Ascanio is like the new Roberto Novoa, that the Cubs have Novoa, but someone who is similar.
  11. There, I correct Brewers.com. Their prediction was half a prediction.
  12. Or better yet, if he continues to hit at AAA, why not a guy like Matt Craig?
  13. I hope Rebel and Jericho reaches the bigs.
  14. Absolutely not. Maybe Hart, MAYBE, but not Ceda. I might consider a guy like Novoa, I mean Ascanio, or perhaps a guy like Wells, not that is a no on Jose Ceda. Cubs can get a better player then Blake for Ceda.
  15. Not me. 1-25, the Cubs are better then Philly. And getting Blanton is, IMO, no more then a lateral move for Philly. But it does put Brett Myers back in the bullpen. A Myers/Lidge back end of the pen is as nasty as Marmol/Wood. But the Phills is still a one starting pitcher rotation.
  16. I think we can put the Khalil Green rumor to bed. In his latest blog, Miles is saying his Cubs sources have "emphatically" denied interests in Khalil Green. So I think we can put this rumor to bed, now.
  17. To be honest, by the time the playoffs start, I believe the Cubs will be playing better on the road. I think this will be a non-issue.
  18. I have been to a game at Enron/Minute Maid, and I will say, it's one of my favorite new stadiums in the game today.
  19. But, but, but, ESPN is the self-proclaimed "worldwide leader of sports."
  20. Quote for truth. This is the braintrust I want running my team. I have no interest in running you're softball team. I have more pressing needs then that....like sleep.
  21. I also love Shooter Beck delievery.
  22. I read the rest of the post, and I think it's irrelevent. I think Hendry brings him back regardless. Not with the club still up for sell...I realize Hendry was given the green light to make moves DURING the season by Zell and whatnot, but in the offseason it's a different story. I could see Hendry being told to hold off making MAJOR moves in the offseason until the Cubs sell is settle one way or another. Which means, even if he wants Dempster to return, it may not be his choice. So Hendry would either have to re-sign before the season over, or potentially have his hands tied in the offseason due to the potential Cubs sell. One possibility to consider is....trade Marquis before the deadline (one more good quality start, and move him quickly) and then sign Dempster to an extension (3/$33 mill sounds like a deal that could get done). Have Dempster finish the yr out on his current contract----which would allow the Cubs to still potentially improve the club this yr---then his new contract kicks in for 2009. This way, you get rid of Marquis, extend/pay rasie Dempster, and still leave the ability to move Lilly in the offseason.
  23. It's like when people tried to force one of the Bobby Joneses to be the good Bobby Jones. The only good Bobby Jones, was the PGA HOFer...
  24. What about Boston having kids like Bucholz (can't spell his name worth a crap) Lester, and perhaps even Lester in the rotation? Or how the Yankees with Kennedy and Hughes? I'm not comparing the quality of young pitchers the Cubs have to what the Red Sox/Yankees have, but those teams were/are prepare to go with young, unproven pitchers in the rotation. Now, I admit it's been semi-decent with the Red Sox with Lester working out, but Masterson and Bucholz being hit and miss. And so far it'shasn't work for the Yankees, but that doesn't mean their young pitchers still won't developed. So just because a team is a "high-payroll championship contender" doesn't mean they won't take a shot at having cheaper options in the rotation. IMO, Kennedy and Hughes will work out for the Yankees, and Bucholz will work out for the Red Sox in their rotations. I don't buy your argument, because IMO it's dated. Jericho/JeffH, did both you read the REST of what I post? I said if Hendry is successful at moving Marquis and Lilly between NOW and the start of the OFFSEASON, then re-signing Dempster would be all but guarantee. But if you ask me: Dempster today or Harden tomorrow what would I say? I say Harden tomorrow. Let me make this clear (not trying to rude or condecending), if Hendry can move Lilly and Marquis then I expect Dempster to be back, but if he can't, I expect the Cubs to let Dempster walk for a couple of draft picks.
